Lead poisoning occurs when lead is ingested. It can also be caused by breathing in dust that contains lead. You cannot smell or taste lead. It is not visible to the naked eye. Lead used to be common in house paint and gasoline in the United States. These products are not produced with lead any longer. However, lead is still present everywhere. It is especially found in older houses. Common sources of lead include: House paint from before 1978 Toys and household items painted before 1976 Toys made and painted bullets, curtain weights, and fishing sinkers made of lead Pipes and sink faucets, which can contaminate drinking water Soil polluted by car exhaust or chipping house paint Paint sets and art supplies Jewelry, pottery, and lead figures Other types of art hobbies and projects Storage batteries Kohl or kajol eyeliners (used more in other countries) Some traditional ethnic medicines At levels above 80 µg/dL, serious, permanent health damage may occur (extremely dangerous). Between 40 and 80 µg/dL, serious health damage may be occuring, even if there are no symptoms (seriously elevated). Between 25 and 40 µg/dL, regular exposure is occuring. There is some evidence of potential physiologic problems (elevated). Between 10 and 25 µg/dL, lead is building up in the body and some exposure is occurring.

Hello, Thanks for the query. The blood glucose values mentioned (fasting 228 mg & PP 360 mg) both are too high, suggesting there is severely uncontrolled diabetes. Hence first and foremost is to achieve an early glucose control with FBG < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8. So there is a need for taking appropriate medication. Secondly maintain a normal weight, with regular exercise and restricted diet intake. You should avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, foods made from maida. Also refrain from red meat, alcohol and smoking. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits. Exercise for at least 1 hour a day, brisk walking can be a good option. Thanks.

Osteoarthritis is an irreversible process. Long term medication is not advised. Life style modification (avoiding squatting, cross leg sitting, stair climbing) and use of cane helps. Give here paracetamol for pain and start vitamin d therapy. Hope this helps.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. There is absolutely no reason to worry if you have no symptoms. Your fasting glucose is fine. (range 70 to 110 mg). PP is low, that does not matter at all. Insulin levels also are good. Thanks.

Shoulder pain likely to be muscle related. Commonly called frozen shoulder, which can last upto 6 months. Good physiotherapy is required. For more you can ask me a private question.
