Good morning all respected doctors. My age 36 year, weight 57 kg. From last 1 month l am Suffering with knee pain left leg (I feel this pain only when I seat for at latrine (Indian style), when I stand up after 5-10 minutes I feel more pain intensity which goes after some time. X ray done, doctor saw x-ray and said that cartilage has been decreased b/w bones. However I feel no pain during following activities:- walking 4 km daily/seating on chair at office/playing badminton 30 minutes daily/ push-up etc. I want to know the following: 1. Why cartilage decreased. I am only 36 years. 2. Whether cartilage recover naturally or will I face this problem long life? 3. Which of the following activities (walking/running/push up/Indian style latrine/ playing badminton etc.) are harmful. Which I continue and which to be stopped. 4. What steps/activities should I follow to reduce further pain, wear-tear and improvements. 5. Which foods/medicines should be taken for improvement. Thanks to all.

Wear and tear of cartilage even in early 30's is seen quite often nowadays. Exact reason is not know but the possible causes are inflammatory arthritis, chondromalacia, oxidative damage, lifestyle problems, impact sports, injuries etc. Fortunately the cartilage can heal itself to a certain extent. The potential for healing is even better in young people. Walking and swimming is good for cartilage nutrition. Avoid running, jumping, Indian style toilets. There are specific knee exercises which help to strengthen the knee joint and decrease the load on the cartilage. A good physiotherapist can help you with that. Almonds, walnut, cod liver oil, kiwi, pineapple, apricots etc. Are believed to be good for joints. (Basically and food with omega3 fatty acids and good anti oxidant properties are good). Glucosamine supplements are known to improve cartilage health.

1. Check your hemoglobin, bp. 2. Avoid stress, anxiety, severe physical and mental exertion 3. Take adequate rest and sleep for 7-8 hours daily to remain healthy 4. Have good nourishing diet, plenty of green leafy vegetables, fruits etc 5. Drink plenty of water (8-10 glass daily) 6. Take one capsule of revital daily after breakfast 7. Consult doctor for further advice.

Hello doctor. My concern is I have started taking a mass gainer . Today morning while using it it didn't mix properly with water . I have little bit pain in my lower back (left side ) I am worried if I have stones in kidney . Moreover just from two days I have started using it .

Dear user it is highly likely that muscular pain is the cause of your symptoms rather than kidney stones. If you have any urinary symptoms like burning in urine it could indicate the presence of stones. If not all you may need is a muscle relaxant and analgesic. Ultrasound of the abdomen and urinalysis can help solve the doubts. Protien shakes take time to mix with water or milk. Using a blender is a great option.

Did you injure your knee? I would recommend xray of both knees standing ap and lat views. Get your serum esr, ra, crp and aso.

DEAR Lybrate USER. Follow few basic things …. 1) drink only 100-150 ml of water during meals …. 2) don’t drink water one hour before meals and one hour after meal…3) avoid oily, spicy, salty, junk, fast, fermented and stale foods…. 4) avoid coffee and tea…5) try to sleep upto 10.30 pm …6) do anuloma viloma pranayam regularly early in the morning…A) eat 30-40 black currants during meals…B) take 250 ml of fresh butter milk during dinner. C) instill 3-4 drops of CHANDANADI TAILA in each nostril at the time of sleeping……Do all these things for 15 days. It gives you good result. Consult to me for further suggestions. THANKS.

Hello from about 2 months I have strong vertigo that do not even sleep well . I've noticed that I also dilated pupils . I went two weeks ago by the neurologoneurologo and he prescribed supplements Melaxina Te Pineal Tens. No improvement in fact I always feel worse . Before I had a treatment with Cipralex drops for irritable bowel and took 7 drops in the evening before going to bed but the neurologist told me to take them off because they could be the cause of expansion but the fact is that I have always these problems . What may be somebody can tell me? I am very worried.

There are 2 main causes for vertigo. 1) diseases of the ear 2) diseases of the brain. Diseases of the ear causing vertigo are bppv (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), meniere's disease, labyrinthitis, trauma to the inner ear, toxicity due to medicines. These diseases can occur at any age and are usually associated with nausea and vomiting. Examination by an ent doctor will help to come to a diagnosis. Diseases of the brain causing vertigo are bleeding or interrupted blood supply to the cerebellum (area of the brain responsible for balance) and its connections, tumours. These conditions are commonly seen in elderly and are not associated with nausea and vomiting. They can be ruled out by mri. I hope this answered your question. Hi, Take food rich in carbohydrates and protein like sprouted whole grams, corn, bananas, mangoes, milk and milk products, dry fruits, sweets, etc. Sleep well for 8-9 hours a day. Consume adequate quantity of food according to your age. Get rid of mental tensions and worries.

Hello sir. Instead gaining weight its better to maintain weight sir. Since your 40+ in your age, gaining weight may some times invite unwanted diaeases or disorders, so its better to maintain your weight as for now. Is quite a common condition rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use this no pillow under the head. Any way take caldikind plus (mankind) 1tab odx10days paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take you may have to use lumbosacral support for some time. Avoid painful act/activities. Take medicines as prescribed it may have to be further investigated.

Hello You need not worry. Drink plenty of water. Take 3 main meals and 2 side meals. Don't skip breakfast. Sleep for 7-9 hours per night. Start your day with peanut butter sandwich. After 2 hours take 500ml milk. After 2 hours take 2-3 chapati with ghee applied along with paneer. Take apple before workout. After workout take 1 scoop of whey protein powder. Dinner take 2-3 chapati with ghee applied along with paneer or soya curry. Thank you

Take high protein foods like all milk and milk products, eggs, pulses, sprouts, nuts, tofu, rajmah, chole, soyabean, paneer, chicken, fish etc. To gain muscle mass. Take small and frequent meals at regular intervals of 2-3 hrs. Avoid outside food completely. Ask me privately for detailed diet plan.
