Hello lybrate user, diabetes is much more complicated than you can imagine. You are doing your bit by taking the medicines regularly and that must be much appreciated by your doctors but please remember that it's a ongoing disease process and you will have ups and downs. First you should be aware completely of your sugar and blood pressure levels and just get them controlled them by adjustment of medicines by doctors. Second remember that medicine is just a part of the solution. Your diet and exercise are equally important solutions and can become a part of the problem if you don't watch them. You are young and exercise is your best ally at this juncture. Make use of exercise to do the fine tuning of your diabetes. Third all medicines have side effects but these side effects are better than the effect of disease in the body. I hear so many people crib about side effects of medicines but no one care about the effects of the disease process. Medicines are medicines because they cause less harm than benefit and surely prevent you from getting that bad effect of the disease on the body. Diabetes is going to be with you for life. Treat it as a unwanted guest on your journey. Keep watching it and never let it take the steering wheel. Checking your blood sugar is meant for several goals. If your doctor plans to put you on new set of medication then he requires to see your profile of blood sugars.

I am growing fat. I am suffering from thyroid. I am taking medicine from past one year but still I could not control my weight. What should I follow to control my weight?

I am growing fat. I am suffering from thyroid. I am taking medicine from past one year but still I could not control ...
Losing weight and keeping it off, is not an easy task and often we are frustrated by failed attempts at doing so. The cause of such failure, mostly, is not making the attempt in a comprehensive and disciplined manner. A comprehensive lifestyle modification program for weight loss not only helps you lose weight but also leads to significant betterment of blood sugar, lipids, bp levels etc. And thus reduces your health risks of diabetes and cvd but also make you feel more in control of your life. Therefore, if you have not been able to lose weight on your own, should consider getting into one of these. The components of such a program should be the following: diet modification and calorie restriction: the diet plan you should follow should be driven by the following principles: it should be aligned to your eating preferences in terms of food and frequency of eating, as much as possible ; no diet plan (low fat or low carb, 4-5 meals a day or more or less frequent meals etc.) has been prov.

Homeopath,
HYPOTHYROIDISM

Homeopathic remedies and homeopathy treatment for Hypothyroidism.

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the body lacks sufficient thyroid hormone. Since the main purpose of thyroid hormone is to “run the body’s metabolism”, it is understandable that people with this condition will have symptoms associated with a slow metabolism.

Hypothyroidism – CAUSE

There are two fairly common causes of hypothyroidism. The first is a result of previous (or currently ongoing) inflammation of the thyroid gland which leaves a large percentage of the cells of the thyroid damaged (or dead) and incapable of producing sufficient hormone. The most common cause of thyroid gland failure is called autoimmune thyroiditis (also called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), a form of thyroid inflammation caused by the patient’s own immune system. The second major cause is the broad category of “medical treatments”. As noted on a number of our other pages, the treatment of many thyroid conditions warrants surgical removal of a portion or all of the thyroid gland. If the total mass of thyroid producing cells left within the body are not enough to meet the needs of the body, the patient will develop hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism – SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Fatigue
Weakness
Weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight
Coarse, dry hair
Dry, rough pale skin
Hair loss
Cold intolerance (can’t tolerate the cold like those around you)
Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
Constipation
Depression
Irritability
Memory loss
Abnormal menstrual cycles
Decreased libido
Hypothyroidism – HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT & Medicines

Homeopathy offers good prognosis to cases of hypothyroidism. Medicines like Calcare phos, Calcarea carb, Lapis alb, Iodium, Thyroidinum, Spongia, Lycopus, Calcarea iod etc are often found indicated in cases of hypothyroidism.

I am 64 yrs old. I taking metformin 500 twice daily since the last nearly two years. Is there any side effects for using it continuously. My sugar level is 113 before and 180 after. Please advise.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Let us keep aside the side effects of metformin for time being. While taking this medicine the sugar level r not still under control and this can prove fatal for your body. So consult your physician and ask him to give some aggressive medicine o that your sugar level fasting is below 110 and pp is below 140, otherwise it can cause some serious damage.

Hello, metformin 250 mg can be taken either on empty stomach (before food) or after food. There is no hard and fast rule. Some patients complain of gastrointestinal side effects, when taken on empty stomach. So for them it is recommended after food.

Will a person with Type 2 diabetes under control end up with the need for insulin?

Certificate in Basic Course on Diabetes Management, CCEBDM Certificate in Diabetes, MBBS

Will a person with Type 2 diabetes under control end up with the need for insulin?
Diet, exercise, oral medication are three basic steps to control type 2 diabetes. Depending on availability of free endogenous insulin and control this will work in most of the cases but at times during temporary crisis like surgery, heart attack etc insulin has to be brought in temporarily. When things go out of hand insulin may have to be introduced may not be in all cases.

Your blood sugar have to be maintained roughy fasting around 70to 80 at the best 90 mgm/d! and pp around 140mgm/dl and maintain your at according to your height and weight. Have a balanced diet go for morning walk regularly followed by free hand exercise. And your fever may not be related to your rise of sugar level. It may be due to some viral infection have lot of vitamin c which helps your as autoimmune system to prevent infection.
