I am 36 years old and for last five year I have thyroid tsh 40 so can you suggest the medicine? Please advise.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
With such a high level of tsh you still not on treatment is it? please tell me if you are taking thyroxine tablet and what is the dosage. If no treatment is being taken then you have to start on thyroxine tablets. You may begin with 50 mcg per day, to be taken early in the morning on empty stomach and nothing to taken for two hours after that. After 3 to 4 weeks check tsh levels again if still high then increase the dosage.

Hi , an under-functioning thyroid is a hormonal disruption that could be fixed via good eating habits and an active lifestyle. At our company, we do have several clients come in with a thyroid disorder which we successfully rectify with 3-6 months of lifestyle intervention and behavioral modification. This would be a great platform to put your wife on as well. Do consult us for a preliminary consult and we could discuss this in more depth. .

How To Take Care Of Diabetic Nerve Pain

Sixty to seventy percent of those individuals will develop diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) at some point during their lives. In fact, DPN is the most common diabetes complications and it?s an increasingly-common problem within the African-American community. There are several ways to prevent diabetes-related complications, but if you?re already one of the millions of people living with DPN every day, here are three ways to manage your symptoms.
1.Lower your blood glucose levels.
Keeping your blood sugar levels in check is absolutely critical when it comes to treating DPN because it lowers the patient?s risk of developing complications, including urinary tract infections and amputation.
?Keeping your blood sugar controlled is essential to managing DPN,? When your blood sugar is controlled, the blood flow can improve with time if it?s still early in the disease.
2. Change your lifestyle.
That means eating healthier and incorporating more raw foods into your everyday diet, exercising regularly if you don?t already and not smoking.
?Appropriate diet and exercise helps in several ways. Both of which will have a direct impact in controlling you blood sugar,? Dr. Carter says. ?You also get the added benefit of better blood flow. Exercise has been shown to improve blood flow and help regulate the hormones involved in regulating your blood sugar i.E. Insulin and cortisol. Exercise can help control the low-grade inflammation you get in the nerve cells when your blood sugar is not controlled as well.?
3. Meditate.
Depression and anxiety are quite common among people with DPN since many patients lose the ability to perform simple, everyday tasks, such as cooking, driving and tying one?s shoes. If you?re already taking medication prescribed by your doctor, then by all means, continue to do so, but consider adding meditation to your everyday routine. According to a 2011 study published in the Journal of Neuroscience, people who meditate regularly experienced less pain.
?Not often thought of, meditation can be quite helpful,? Dr. Carter says. ?By helping lower your stress levels, it will help your blood sugar control, lower your vascular tone and how tense your blood vessels are [while] improving the blood flow to those nerves as well.?

Cracks on your penis skin is due to sugar going out through urine and so we need to first check your hba1c levels and we need to make even sugar absent in urine by altering the drug.

I am 35 years old male and I had taking thyrox 100 mcg last 5 years but nowadays I have problem with gases and goes to latrine 4 to 5 times a day then what should I do? I had used dose of thyrox 100 mcg to 50 mcg?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. If yu are on treatment for hypothyroidism (100 mcg Thyroxine), then best way to judge whether treatment is adequate or not is to check TSH level, it should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L. With that most of the symptoms will be in check So whether to reduce or change the dose can only be answered by looking at TSH level. As regards the other complaints those could be related to indigestion. Please increase the water intake and also do regular exercise, which will help in better digestion. Most important is to control hypothyroidism well. Thanks.

Mr subhash, please tell me current fasting and pp sugar levels. If fastinf is below 126 mg and pp below 200 mg the condition is called as pre diabetes. Drug treatment is not required but strict diet control and regular exercise are needed to keep weight in check so that helps maintain lower sugar levels and avoid getting diabetes. At 197 mg you may not need the medication.

Few details are required to give correct advise, like weight, height, waist circumference, level of physical activity every day and the dosage of medications taken. Ppg 0.2 needs to be taken with each meal with first bite. As regards the food on tour one can stick to dal roti, salads, curd and a little rice (if needed). Breakfast could be upama, 2 idlis, 1 -2 plain dosas with nil oil, and half apple or 1 orange etc. Dinner should be similar to lunch. Avoid sweets, pastries, deep fried foods, drink dilute butter milk. A glass of skimmed milk can be had at bed time.
