Several lifestyle changes may be required. Most back pain gets better with a few weeks of home treatment and careful attention. Over-the-counter pain relievers as prescribed by me may be all that you need to improve your pain. A short period of bed rest is ok, but more than a couple of days actually does more harm than good. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Endocrinologist's decision must be logical and it should be respected. He must have some calculations in mind. He ll do the best which is available in allopathy. But the limitations and capacities of modern science can not stop advancement of disease and effects of disease in the long run. Neuropathy, retinopathy etc creep in many people inspite of many best treatments. This does not mean that allopathy is bad. It saves life. Whereas the aftereffects of disease and medicine may be checked by herbal support. Herbs may not save life in emergency in present day scene but definitely benefit in lifestyloe disorders and chronic diseases like dm. I suggest you not to play with decision of endocrinologist. If any apprehensions, get second opinion only from an endocrinologist only and not from general doctors. I suggest you continue with your current regime.

Lybrate-user, in diabetes chance of getting repeated urinary tract infection is quite common. So strict blood glucose control is very essential. Fasting glucose should be closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% <7. Plus there has to be appropriate antibiotic treatment of each episode of infection. It may be necessary to get a sensitivity test to see which antibiotic is most effective. But still if hyperglycemia is not controlled urinary tract infection can continue to occur. Thanks.

My sister is suffering from thyroid I think. She is getting fatty day by day. Although she is doing dieting also but still no she does not able to loose weight. Is there any solution?

BHMS
Homeopath,
My sister is suffering from thyroid I think. She is getting fatty day by day. Although she is doing dieting also but ...
Dear Lybrate User, you may have come across a number of gimmicking advertisement of medicines which claim to decrease body weight in a very short time. Don’t fall prey for such advertisement because the excess weight would not be shredded until each & every underlying cause of being overweight is diagnosed & treated. Normally 1 kg of fat occupies thrice the volume than that of 1 kg of muscle. That’s why accumulation of fat makes a person so bulky whereas body-builders have a shredded physique although most of the body-builders are overweight according to the BMI index. So it is evident that to lose the excess weight you have to get rid of the excess fat in your body. Now the basic role behind the process of accumulation of fat in human body is played by Metabolism. Metabolism is the set of life-sustaining chemical transformations within the cells of living organisms. The three main purposes of metabolism are the conversion of food/fuel to energy to run cellular processes, the conversion of food/fuel to building blocks for proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and some carbohydrates, and the elimination of nitrogenous wastes. In order to lose the excess fat you need to increase your rate of metabolism. First of all you need to rule out the possibility of the presence of any hormonal disturbance that may be affecting your sister's metabolism. Just conduct a total Thyroid profile test of all her blood. If the reports are within normal limits then she should proceed further to increase your metabolism. If you find any abnormalities in the report you should immediately consult a doctor.

Madam, we have specialized tablets to control hair fall. These tablets clear blocks at the root of hair follicles thereby giving them proper protein and nutrition and hence hair becomes thick and strong and follicles that are devoid of hair acquire nutrition and grow hairs in them. At the same time, medicine retards destruction of estrogen, thereby reducing hair fall. Above all else, medicine strengthen liver so that absorption of calcium and phosphorus from food increases.

Lybrate-user having pain in knee of your is nothing to do with diabetes provided their b sugar is under control - having pain in knee for 3-4 days could be linked to some un-knowing traumatic injury or strain in ligament or osteo-arthritic changes in knees - go for uric acid test / ra factor / and x-ray knee will help us in ruling out certain possibilites. For the time being put a cotton clothe soaked in hot salted water and apply over knee with give some relief.

You seem to be over occupied with your own thought process. Yes being introvert is one of the reasons for the way you feel. You are reading too much between the lines and so your concentration on the happenings around you is less and you think you are absent minded. You have got a kind of guilty conscience about your so called bad qualities, which can be corrected by sincere efforts. Having sugar level 135 is not anything which you have to worry for. The feeling of weakness might be due to your negative thoughts and loss of appetite and poor nutrition. The same may be the cause of mouth ulcers. Think on a positive note and many things can change dramatically.

YOU CAN TAKE TAB.THYRONORM 100MCG BBF. irregular periods due to it.it may be cured by medicines...due to it cause in infertilty .Goitrogens are naturally occurring substances in certain foods that interfere with the production of thyroid hormones (the hormones that people with hypothyroidism lack). They include some of the most commonly consumed foods of the health-conscious community: broccoli, cauliflower, kale, spinach, radishes, soybeans, peanuts, pine nuts, peaches and millet. The good news is that many health professionals believe that cooking may inactivate goitrogens. Although these foods provide many benefits for healthy people, goitrogenic potential should be considered by at-risk groups: people who have a family history of hypothyroidism, those who already have symptoms, and women approaching menopause. Some goitrogens, such as soy isoflavones, pose a particular quandary for menopausal women—they can reduce certain menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, but are thought to aggravate hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism could explain menopausal symptoms such as depression, weight gain, and lethargy. People with deficient thyroid function often feel cold, which might help differentiate the two conditions. It is unknown whether other phytoestrogenic foods are thought to affect thyroid functioning. While avoiding goitrogens may mitigate symptoms of hypothyroidism, many other dietary and nondietary factors are also involved. At least a dozen vitamins and minerals are recommended for preventing low thyroid function—iodine, an essential trace element present in the thyroid gland, being the most widely recognized. Iodized table salt generally contributes enough iodine to the American diet to prevent goiter, a swelling of the thyroid gland visible around the Adam’s apple and associated with hypothyroidism; however, it may not be enough to counter other effects of low thyroid function. Iodine may be available in land-grown foods, but because the amount varies considerably depending on the minerals in the soil, seafood is a more reliable source. A significant amount of iodine is found in kelp, but excessive amounts (more than 600 mcg per day for prolonged periods) may actually trigger hypothyroidism, so moderation is the key.

I have diabetes. I am trying to control it but its increasing day by day. What can i do?
Following are the tips to prevent onset/or control diabetes 1-losing extra weight:-is the most significant thing which can make a big difference to your health. It helps lower your blood pressure and cholesterol too. Waist of more than 80 cm in women & 90 cm in man are at risk 2- constant and regular food timings:- it will improve your metabolic activity and helps reducing your weight. 3- split your meals and eating in moderate amount:-splitting your meals into 3-4 times per day (including snacks) and eating in fair amount, improves your metabolic rate as the food you take is not concentrated at one time. 4- no long gaps and skipping of meals:-never miss out breakfast. 5- no overeating:-never eat in a bulk on one time remember to eat your food slowly, chew well. 6- proper exercise and work outs:-exercise is a fast way to trim down calories, extra weight and controlling glucose level. Brisk walking for 30 min. Atleast five times a week is the best. You can also try cycling, swimming, dancing. Timings for exercise should be fixed and regular. Do not eat right away after a workout. 7-constant and regular timings for medication 8-avoid fried foods, meat, fats and sweets. 9- take high-fibre and complex carbohydrates:-like oats. Add whole grain foods in your diet. Avoid white bread, pasta, pizza, candies, and snacks. Instead include high-fiber carbohydrates like wheat bran, flaxseed and methi seeds to your wheat flour. This will increase fibre in your diet. 10-drink enough fluids:-keep your body well hydrated. 11. Fresh vegetables and fruits:- these contain a lot of minerals as well as nutrients. Include sprouts in the diet as they are easily digestible.

What is a juvenile diabetes and type 1 and type 2 diabetes and how to treat this disease and what precautions to take.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

What is a juvenile diabetes and type 1 and type 2 diabetes and how to treat this disease and what precautions to take.
Rahil, Earlier Juvenile diabetes term was used for T1 DM, because it was thought that it occurs only in juveniles (children). Now it is called T1DM, where only insulin is needed for treatment and survival. T2DM is invariably in adults and older persons. There is lack of insulin and resistance to insulin plus patient is usually over weight. In case T2DM one can prevent it by adapting modified life style- regular exercise for more than 1 hour, restricted diet giving exact calories based on normal body weight, avoiding sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries and aerated sweetened drinks. Consume more of fruits, green leafy vegetables and salads. Plus refrain from alcohol and smoking.
