Is Sleep Paralysis a Symptom of a Serious Problem? Yesterday left side full not sense (top to bottom like head, hand and leg) this is 1st time happening to me.

MBBS, Master In Health Science
Neurologist, Mumbai
Usually sleep paralysis affects the entire body and is part of narcolepsy which includes cataplexy (neck quickly losing power e.f. While Laughing) and excessive daytime sleepiness. Since your episode was so asymmetric you should be very intensively evaluated to rule out a transient loss of blood supply to one part of your brain (a transient ischaemic attack or TIA)

Good morning Sir,
Can you Explain me what are the symptoms for Malaria, Tuberculosis.
And what to you mean by medulla...
Malaria-Symptoms are chills, fever and sweating, usually occurring a few weeks after being bitten. People may experience: Pain areas: in the muscles Whole body: chills, fatigue, fever, malaise, shivering, or sweating Also common: fast heart rate, headache, nausea, or pallor Tuberculosis-The bacteria that cause TB are spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Most people infected with the bacteria that cause tuberculosis don't have symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they usually include cough (sometimes blood-tinged), weight loss, night sweats and fever. Treatment isn't always required for those without symptoms. Patients with active symptoms will require a long course of treatment involving multiple antibiotics. Hi Doctor, I am suffering from insomnia. I am working as a scientist in one of the reputed company and staying alone far from my family. I can not sleep more than 3-4 h per day. I am taking diazepam/Clonazepam lowest dose on need basis. Initially it helped me and I can get sleep when I used to take it. Now, After taking sedatives also, I am not able to sleep. Because of that I am not able to do my day work efficiently. I have consulted one psychiatrist who gave me anti depressant (X). When I take it, I feel very calm. I got the 7 kg weight gain because of that and I stopped the treatment. After stopping the medicine, situation has been worsened more. I can not even express suddenly what happen to me which is completely uncontrollable. One small thought provokes 10 thoughts and 10 thoughts provoke 100 big thoughts. The tragedy of this is I can not share it to any one. I tried once, but no one is believing and taking me seriously. After some time I am able to realize that, it is not impacting any body other than me. Its my loss, I know that truth also, but I can not control my thoughts. It is my kind request to help or suggest me something as soon as possible to get out of it.

Hi One of the simplest and most effective ways to induce sleep is to rub some oil on the scalp and the soles of the feet before going to bed. Use sesame oil, brahmi oil, jasmine oil, or coconut oil and massage gently for a few minutes. Slightly warming the oil before applying is helpful... 1-1 drop of cow ghee in both nostrils at night time before sleep

Worried About Dementia?

Worried about dementia?

Getting a diagnosis
If you are worried about yourself, or someone close to you, it is worth discussing your concerns with your general practitioner (GP). A diagnosis will help the doctor rule out other illnesses that might have similar symptoms to dementia, including depression. There are drugs available that appear to alleviate some of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease in some people. Whether you are someone with dementia or a carer, a diagnosis can help you to prepare and plan for the future.
Every person experiences dementia in their own individual way, but there is usually a decline in memory, reasoning and communication skills and a gradual loss of the skills needed to carry out daily activities. If you are feeling confused, agitated or forgetful, you should see your GP. If you are close to someone who is showing these symptoms, you could suggest that you accompany them on their first visit.

Becoming forgetful does not necessarily mean that you have dementia. Memory loss can be an effect of ageing. It can also be a symptom of stress or depression. In rare cases, dementia-like symptoms can be caused by vitamin deficiencies and/or a brain tumour.
The GP is the first person to consult. The GP may then refer the person being diagnosed to a specialist consultant. Assessments can include conversations with the person being diagnosed and those close to them, a physical examination, memory tests and/or brain scans.
