I am 39 years old female and frequently attacked by migraine headche. Is there any permanent solution for this?

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
Try to find out the trigger in your case. Maintain a diary . whenever you have migraine just take a note of what all you are that day and what you did? After sometime try to find out a common factor and try avoiding that. Usually it is cheese, chocolate, fasting, poor sleep, loud music, dim light. If you have more than 2 attacks in a month or attacks are debilitating, then start preventive treatment, see a psychiatrist

There is no definite treatment unless it is severe 2 other causes of tremor could be stress, anxiety, panic, nervousness, inadequate sleep, physical exhaustion, strong emotion, hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemia, smoking/tobacco/alcohol abuse/withdrawl, excess tea/coffee, drugs like steroid/amphetamine, neurological disorder, cerebellar dis order, brainstem disorde, r multiple sclerosis, stroke, head injury, mercury poisoning, liver failure, parkinsonism etc 3. My father is suffering from loss of pneumatization with sclerosis seen in the right mastoid. Can you suggest me is it dangerous.

AUTLS, CCEDM, MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
it indicates infection of the mastoid area and its draining sinuses probably due to recent/past ear infection..first get ct scan done of the right mastoid region..(if u 've already got xray done),consult to nearby ENT specialist immediately as this condition requires immediate treatment if he is having other symptoms like fever and weight loss etc

My cousin (age 44 years) got first fits 15 days back. Then he lost memory for 8 hours. Then consulted neuro surgeon and under went all brain related tests and MRI scanning. All reports are normal. Why fits has come and lost short time memory? Is there chances fits again?

He should get an eeg test done too. Chance of second seizure is always there. Consult a neurophysician.

My wife is taking tegrital (Carbamazepine) 200 mg daily, earlier she was taking 600 mg daily but gradually reduced to 200. This medicine she is taking since the age of 12 due to seizures, and now she is 46 years old. The last attach had happened almost 15 years ago, hence my question is that she will continue the medicine or should stop it.

MBBS, Master In Health Science
Neurologist, Mumbai
You should talk to an epilepsy specialist before stopping it. The chances of seizure recurrence after stopping medications is about 50-50. Studying earlier Mris and repeating the eeg might help in predicting if she needs to continue taking medications.

Resp Sir, My wife is suffering very badly from Migraine problem since last 20 yrs. MRI was normal. Pl suggest any homeopathy medicine for the same. Also guide what things not to do. Thanx.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, self-care measures can help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation techniques may include progressive muscle relaxation, meditation or yoga. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. Medication: take bakson's mig-aid tablet/ 1 tablet 3 times a day.

My mother has migrane pains once a month. We had ct scan of the head on recommendation of a moolchand doctor and nothing was found. What next can we do to reduce this frequency of pains. Her head aches and she vomits. I can't see her in pain. Please let me know what can I do to ease it.

MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Once a month is mild grade migraine. In case of acute pain start taking tablet brufen twice a day for 3 days. Tab emset sos for vomiting. Tab rantac empty stomach for 3 days for associated dyspepsia. But if situation goes on worsening like 1-2 attack /wk then there are medicine available like flunarizzine and propranolol but don't take them in mild migraine. In case of severe acute pain not controlled by medicine you can take tablet rizatriptan sos only once in 24 hrs.
