Hi. Erectile dysfunction, often referred to as ed, is characterized by a persistent and recurring inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Psychological (like stress and anxiety, poor communication with your partner, unrealistic sexual expectations, negative feelings about non performance, depression), physical and lifestyle (smoking, alcohol and sometimes illicit drugs and medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid conditions, poor circulation, low testosterone) or neurologic disorders (such as multiple sclerosis or parkinson's disease) issues can all cause ed, as can trauma to nerves and arteries (for example, from prostate surgery). The incidence of erectile dysfunction increases with age, but young men can also experience it. So, will have to find out the exact cause in your case. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine - schwabe's damiaplant/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. Management: regular exercising keeps you fit and healthy, so don't forget to do it. Practice pranayam regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning. Not to do these exercises within 4 hours after meals. One can have meals not within 15 minutes after finishing these exercises. These exercises are good for gaining and maintaining good health. Also, practice pelvic floor exercise or kegel exercise, consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor. In order to locate your pelvic muscles try to stop and begin the flow of urine as using the bathroom. You can perform kegel exercises with the empty bladder as exercising pelvic muscle with the full bladder might result in urinary tract infections. Erectile.

Hello, I have gone through the values mentioned, following are higher than normal: uric acid, total cholesterol, ldl and alt. Others are fine. Toal cholesterol is marginally high but ldl is definitely much higher. Liver enzyme alt is also marginally high. Not much of a problem but if you are alcoholic then it is better to reduce or stop that. Higher uric acid can cause joit pains, otherwise nothing much to worry.

dear be fortunate u have come to know of your diabetic and high cholesterol status well before it could create havoc inside your body..many of the patients are diagnosed diabetic only when they land up in hospitals due to some other reason like heart attack...so be thankful for not falling into that category no you are not heart patient as of now ....and you can prevent yourself from that by taking regular medications.. this is more likely type 2 diabetes and u have to take lifelong medications for that...but be thankful for living in an era whwere we have so many medications to take other than only insulin...your detailed reports like LDL levels are required before prescribing any medications... for diabetes you can take tab galvus met 50/1000 mg twice daily after meals and tab GP1 daily before breakfast ...keep a check on blood sugar daily .as of now..buy a glucometer..take tab atorlip 10 mg at bedtime for high cholesterol levels...avoid sugar rich food and fruits...

Heart attack first aid

A heart attack is a medical emergency. Call ambulance or your local emergency number if you think you or someone else is having a heart attack.

The average person waits 3 hours before seeking help for symptoms of a heart attack. Many heart attack patients die before they reach a hospital. The sooner the person gets to the emergency room, the better the chance of survival. Prompt medical treatment reduces the amount of heart damage.

This article discusses what to do if you think someone may be having a heart attack.

Causes
A heart attack occurs when the blood flow that carries oxygen to the heart is blocked. The heart muscle becomes starved for oxygen and begins to die.

Symptoms
Symptoms of a heart attack can vary from person to person. They may be mild or severe. Women, older adults, and people with diabetes are more likely to have subtle or unusual symptoms.

Symptoms in adults may include:

Changes in mental status, especially in older adults
Chest pain that feels like pressure, squeezing, or fullness. The pain is usually in the center of the chest. It may also be felt in the jaw, shoulder, arms, back, and stomach. It can last for more than a few minutes, or come and go.
Cold sweat
Light-headedness
Nausea (more common in women)
Numbness, aching, or tingling in the arm (usually the left arm, but the right arm may be affected alone, or along with the left)
Shortness of breath
Weakness or fatigue, especially in older adults and in women
First aid
If you think someone is having a heart attack:

Have the person sit down, rest, and try to keep calm.
Loosen any tight clothing.
Ask if the person takes any chest pain medication, such as nitroglycerin, for a known heart condition, and help them take it.
If the pain does not go away promptly with rest or within 3 minutes of taking nitroglycerin, call for emergency medical help.
If the person is unconscious and unresponsive, (or your local emergency number), then begin cpr.
If an infant or child is unconscious and unresponsive, perform 1 minute of cpr, then call ambulance
Do not
Do not leave the person alone except to call for help, if necessary.
Do not allow the person to deny the symptoms and convince you not to call for emergency help.
Do not wait to see if the symptoms go away.
Do not give the person anything by mouth unless a heart medication (such as nitroglycerin) has been prescribed.
When to contact a medical professional or your local emergency number immediately if the person:

Does not respond to you
Is not breathing
Has sudden chest pain or other symptoms of a heart attack
Prevention
Adults should take steps to control heart disease risk factors whenever possible.

If you smoke, quit. Smoking more than doubles the chance of developing heart disease.
Keep blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes in good control and follow your doctor's orders.
Lose weight if obese or overweight.
Get regular exercise to improve heart health. (talk to your doctor before starting any new fitness program.)
Eat a heart-healthy diet. Limit saturated fats, red meat, and sugars. Increase your intake of chicken, fish, fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. Your health care provider can help you tailor a diet specific to your needs.
Limit the amount of alcohol you drink. One drink a day is associated with reducing the rate of heart attacks, but two or more drinks a day can damage the heart and cause other medical problems.

Get an ecg done to rule out whether the pain is related to your heart. If there are any variations, then meet a cardiologist for further management. But if it is normal, then the pain may be due to gastritis for which you need to be treated with medications for 2-3 weeks.

Hello, the symptoms are s/o gastric reflux. In which the acid from stomach gets refluxed into lower oesophagus (food pipe, leading to burping and heartburn mimicking chest pain. You have to start a complete course of proton pump inhibitors i. E. Antacid. Eat bland foods, do not lie down immediately after meals. Drink plenty of water. Avoid tea and coffee, gap between meals should not be more than 4 hrs. If symptoms still persist, consult a physician.

Dear lybrate-user, high bp may or may not produce symptoms. A significant proportion of pt with high bp live with it without knowing its presence in their body. A very large proportion in young hypertensive pt, hypertension is secondary to certain cause like hormone tumor, kidney disease, anxiety etc. Some of those causes are treatable so we need to know whether high bp is because of itself or due to anxiety or due to certain other disease. Treatment will depend upon the root cause. Life style modification should be given utmost priority. Low salt low calorie diet, smoking cessation will be given priority. Regular exercise, weight reduction, meditation & stress management will help a lot.
