Does olive oil prevent heart disease? Short answer: Yes  The health benefits of olive oil come from the presence of polyphenol, antioxidants that reduce the risk of heart diseases and cancers. But to get these healthy compounds, consumers should buy good-quality, fresh" extra-virgin" olive oil, which has the highest polyphenol content. Most commercially available olive oils have low levels of polyphenol associated with poor harvesting methods, improper storage, and heavy processing.

Good to know that you have basic knowledge about oils and don't follow the herd spirit. Use mustard oil in thick based iron vessel to cook your greens and other vegetables like your grany used to do with no non stick handy pans. But do depend on steam cooking by using a pressure cooker after sauting the vegetables with very little oil. Remember no oil is zero cholesterol.

Your psa levels are in doubtful range. Medicines are required only if difficulty in urination is there. Cancer has be ruled out. Physical examination is essential for this. Prostate biobsy may be required if clinical suspicion of cancer.

I want to clarify, is there any symptoms for rectal cancer? Coz, my father had the rectal cancer and no more now. I don't know how to check or to whom I go to check. Please let somebody tell me, how can I found is am also affected by rectal cancer or not.

After complete treatment for rectal cancer, patient should follow up with cancer surgeon every 3 monthly for first 2 years, then 6 monthly for next 3 years, then yearly thereafter. At every visit patient should get CEA and ultasonography done. Other than this if patient has persistent pain while passing motion, difficulty in passing motion or if there is blood in stools, then the patient needs to show to a surgical oncologist immediately.

Hello, if clump is there since 10 years without increasing then it must be fibroadenoma. But it will be advisable to get surgical consultation and ultrasonography of breast done.

Causes;-different types of cancers may be having different types of multiple causes, not any one, in some cancers--viruses have been detected. Adultrated foods, allopathic salts, hormonal drugs, chemical salts, paints, alcohol, smoking, constipation, unhealthy water, foods, uncompatible foods, excessive sex-loss of semen, industrial hazards, polluted air, acidity, arthritis, stones, unknown reasons etc. Are other causes. Prevention;;-- you can prevent cancers by avoiding its possible causes. Symptoms;--generally pain is main symptom but mainly depend upon the organs involved. Other symptoms can be -bleeding, obstruction, ulceration, fever, weakness, loss of appetite, indigestion etc. Etc. Early detection;;- is generally difficult. But lumps may be detected, palpable. Suddenly found when ever pain or some problem is there problem with cancers;;--is that they spread to other parts immediately after surgery-when cut or any time after surgery, may be within-5-10 years or 20 yrs. Results;;- some 80% die within 1-2 years, 10 %--live -------- longer for 5-10 yrs, 10%-escape death. ---------------------------------------- treatment cancer;;-- you may need 4-6 doctors/experts to cure a cancer, at different stages. -step- 1- diagnosis;- generally patients are referred from small clinics or town hospitals to big city hospitals, for complete checkup and diagnostic procedures, bcz only such centres are equipped with big machines/eqipments etc. -step -2-;-- supportive/symptomatic treatment;-- this is required at each stage and step everywhere. Patient may need blood, glucose, vitamins, fluids and life saving drugs, pain killers etc.- all the time. So the patient needs to be admitted in hospitals. You may need allopathic/ ayurvedic/ homeopathic/ naturopathic/ home remedies etc. -step-3-;;--curative treatment;- -tibetan therapy--medicine -cancero - course is the best -step-4-surgery;- may be required where tissues have become hard and degenerated and in irreversible cases or in cavities. -step-5- radiology;- may also be of some helpful in advanced cases. -step-6-chemotherapy;- I do not recommend it bcz of its multiple side effects.

What are the symptoms of early cancer. Any normal cheap test for confirmation the cancer present in body.

Hi, I appreciate you seeking guidance. Commonly blood tests/ tumor markers, scans and biopsies are usually employed to diagnose cancer, with biopsy being the gold standard that clinches the diagnosis. The test requirements, as mentioned above, vary from cancer to cancer. In fact, there always are symptoms but in certain early stage cancers they are quite mild and hence go unnoticed mostly. Routine health checkups may help catch these early, however. Specifically, basis the cancer society recommendations, you need to be watchful about seven cardinal warning signs (c. A. U. T. I. O. N) of cancer, as given below - c - change in bowel habits a - a sore that does not heal you - unusual bleeding or discharge t - thickening or enlargement of a lump I - indigestion or difficulty swallowing (/ dysphagia) o - obvious change in a wart or mole n - nagging cough or hoarseness hope this answers your question.

A Few Tips and Strategies to Follow to Avoid Breast Cancer

A Few Tips and Strategies to Follow to Avoid Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is one of the most feared diagnoses in women. When cancerous cells develop in a woman's breast, irregular lumps, changes in the shape or size of the breast and discharge of blood from the nipples may be experienced. There are lots of preventive measures that you can take to avoid breast cancer. It is important to live a healthy life with as less exposure to toxins as possible. Here are some tips and strategies that can lower your risk of breast cancer

Preventive measures

  • Plant based diet - Studies have shown that a high plant based diet, full of vegetables and fruits, is packed with antioxidants, minerals, and nutrients that lower the risk of breast cancer. Eat light, and avoid refined sugar and processed meat. Try to construct a healthy Mediterranean diet plan rich in olive oil and nuts.
  • Maintain an appropriate weight - Do not gain extra weight as obesity and excessive weight gain are related to breast cancer. Cut down on fat and exercise regularly to lead an active life.
  • Breastfeeding - If you are a new mom, breastfeed your baby as it has numerous health benefits for both you and your child, including lowering the chances of breast cancer in the mother.
  • Sleep - It is important to get 8 hours of sleep every night to live a healthy life. Many studies have shown that a short duration of sleep and exposure to light at night that disrupts the circadian rhythm increases the risk of breast cancer.
  • Avoid tobacco and alcohol - Do not smoke as it increases the chances of cancer in other organs and also leads to toxin inclusion in the body. Also, be sure to drink in moderation as excess alcohol consumption is cancer causing offender.
  • Artificial hormones - Women during menopause often resort to hormone replacement therapy, and the extended use of this therapy can heighten the risk of breast cancer. Therefore, it is recommended to look for other options to smoothen your transition to the menopausal phase.

Sorry to hear about your problem. This is a common problem and it can occur due to the blockade of the opening of a sweat gland opening. It resovles with time. If it causes pain and starts to itch and become read, the you need to get it treated.

She sometimes notices the signs of periods like swollen breast and abdomen pain, back pain but didn't got periods. Is this due to that I pill? Please guide us what to do. Hi Pawan definitely this period problem can be solved. however first the cause must be found out. IN your case there are 2 possibilities, pregnancy and hormonal disturbance due to Ipill. I suggest you repeat the test again but with an early morning sample of urine for accurate results. if still negative we can start with medicines to resume her periods.

Small movements made usually doesn't result in data loss. The machine is automised to compensate for it and if it can't will alert the technician who will redo that area if required. If you are still doubtful you can speak once with reporting radiologist.

In general, 7 to 20 mg/dl (2.5 to 7.1 mmol/l) is considered normal. But normal ranges may vary, depending on the reference range used by the lab, and your age.

I am suffering from Hodgkin lymphoma from last 1year. I want to ask what are the causes of this and how can we leave from this and what types of food I need to eat and in how much time take to healthy me?

MBBS, DNB ( Radiation Oncology)
Oncologist, Mumbai
Hello, hodgkins lymphoma is usually a treatable cancer which responds very well to chemotherapy and radiation. Depending on the stage the number of cycles of chemotherapy and radiation dose is decided. Many times there may be history of exposure to radiation in childhood and many times it just happens due to some genetic mutations too. You should have a balanced diet, with adequate proteins, green leafy vegetables, fruits, lots of antioxidants. Hope that helps!
