What Can Possibly Lead To Dislocation?

DNB - Orthopaedics, MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
What Can Possibly Lead To Dislocation?

Dislocation refers to an injury, which causes the bones to abnormally separate from each other in the joint, which is the meeting place of the bones. Dislocation causes intense pain and is most common in the fingers, shoulders and the elbows. Although a timely diagnosis can make your pain go away, any future injury in the tendons or the ligaments might bring back the injury.

What can cause a dislocation?
The causes of dislocation are as follows:

  1. A body joint can get dislocated if you have suffered a fall.
  2. If you are into any form of sports that requires strenuous physical activity and intense exertion on certain body parts like gymnastics, football or volleyball you have a chance of suffering from dislocated body joints.
  3. Automobile accidents can also cause dislocation of joints.
  4. Some People who are with a loose ligament and are more likely to get a dislocated joint than other people. This may happen without the influence of a major physical trauma or stress.

Understanding the signs and symptoms
In the majority of the cases, a dislocation of the joint is easily detectable as it induces inflammation along with redness and deformation of the affected area. Some of the other symptoms that might occur as a result of the dislocation of the body joints could be:

  1. You might experience severe pain while moving the dislocated joint.
  2. There will be a lack of sensation near the dislocated portion.
  3. There might be a stinging sensation in the dislocated area.
  4. In certain areas you may not be able to move the joint at all

If you have a dislocated joint, the doctors can easily relocate them. Depending on the amount of swelling and pain you are experiencing, the doctor might administer local anesthesia during the process. If the joint dislocation is too severe or has multiple instances of dislocation, then you may have to undergo surgery. Surgery may also be suggested if the adjoined ligaments or tendons are severely affected along with the joints. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hey Doctor, I have 1.5 year old pug-dog diagnosed with Pyometra. Fortunately it is open and the infection is draining out I have given her the course of antibiotics (intake tazo injections, meloxicam, norflox-100, etc) but she is not responding to it. She seems finer but the discharge is still continuous. Now I have switched to homoeopathy (septa out) as I am scared of surgery because since her suffering, she had loss of appetite and ate only biscuit bread and some milk and due to this she became weaker and the operation might make things worse. Can you suggest me a possible non-surgery treatment? Regards, Ronica (This is the question posed by my friend Ronica, she is very stressed out. Any slightest assistance will be a great blessing, Doctor. Please help)

When your pet was discharged from the hospital, you received specific instructions regarding your pet's home care. Some general care guidelines include: In order to help the healing process, it is important that the wound and surrounding area is gently cleaned to remove any crusty or sticky debris. This will keep the wound edges clean, reduce the potential for re-infection, and allow new healthy tissue to develop. Administer all of the medications as prescribed. Do not discontinue antibiotics for any reason unless you have been specifically instructed to do so by your veterinarian. Your dog should not be allowed to lick or chew the open wound. Many dogs will require a protective collar (Elizabethan or E-collar) to prevent them from injuring the site. It is important to prevent the skin from healing over the wound too quickly. This is particularly important with abscesses that have been lanced and drained surgically. If the wound closes prematurely, the risk of recurrence increases.

I am suffering stress problem that too on a great extent. Actually that deals somehow with my personal life.
First of all you need to rule out the cause for stress and find the solution for it by having a talk with your closed ones. Otherwise this stress will cause a personal conflict. Besides this you can de-stress yourself by many ways Just take few minutes and go for relaxing from your busy schedule for Relaxing the mind- 1.Take slow, deep breaths. Or try other breathing exercises for relaxation. 2.Soak in a warm bath. 3.Listen to soothing music. 4.Practice mindful meditation. The goal of mindful meditation is to focus your attention on things that are happening right now in the present moment. 5.get a cup of herbal tea. Green tea is a source of L-Theanine, a chemical that helps relieve stress 6.Just a square of the sweet stuff like Dark chocolate can calm your nerves. 7.try a spoonful of honey, it will reduce inflammation in the brain, meaning it fights depression and anxiety. 8. Minty, fruity, or bubble-gum flavor, a stick of gum is a surprisingly quick and easy way to beat stress 9.You can close your eyes, it’s all right. Take a quick break from a busy office or a chaotic household by just lowering your eyelids. It’s an easy way to regain calm and focus. Just try it out these simple techniques for quick way to relax. Certainly there are other medicines that can give better results. Generally psychoactive drugs need an average period of one month to get established in a person. Please go the same psychiatrist so that he or she may be able to prescribe next line drugs for the same problem.

I recently read that researchers believe certain foods might cure Alzheimer’s disease. Is this true? If so, which foods do this and how much would you have to consume to get the benefits?

Dear lybrate-user, for curing alzheimer's so far nothing has come clinically. Of course we would like to research all the possible ones. Research findings to become clinically relevant needs more time and more replication of findings in different population. For preventing probably all healthy food habit may be helpful. May not be alzheimer's alone, generally any dementia, especially vascular ones.

Geriatric depression is often wrongly taken as to aging and its consequences. The changed role of life and being physically and psychologically dependent makes them elders vulnerable. Presence of medical or surgical illnesses further complicates the diagnosis. Please take him to a psychiatrist for proper evaluation. Do not take his complaints for granted and try to involve him in some daily activity which will give him entitlement and purpose.

Hello sir, I have panic attacks and disorder Kindly prescribe medicine Thank you.
Hi lybrate-user, sit comfortably. Take a long, deep breath and exhale it slowly while saying the word" relax" silently. Close your eyes. Let yourself take ten natural, easy breaths. Count down with each exhale, starting with" ten. This time, while you are breathing comfortably, notice any tensions, perhaps in your jaw or forehead or stomach. Imagine those tensions loosening. When you reach" one, open your eyes again. Do this exercise for panic attack and seek psychotherapy from psychologist.
