How to reduce sugar level.?

Endocrinologist,
How to reduce sugar level.?
If some has diabetes, then first thing is to take proper medication as prescribed, secondly follow a strict life style modification, which means - exercise regularly for more than one hour a day, avoid sweets, sugar, deep fried foods and maintain weight within normal limits for height. Plus no smoking and alcohol. If these guide lines are followed sugar control is achievable.

Hi, Most of the time, a high uric acid level occurs when your kidneys don't eliminate uric acid efficiently. Things that may cause this slow-down in the removal of uric acid include rich foods, being overweight, having diabetes, taking certain diuretics (sometimes called water pills) and drinking too much alcohol. Other less common causes are a diet high in purine-containing items or your body producing too much uric acid. Prevention:- -Increase your intake of fibre-rich diet. -Olive oil helps you avoid the production of excess uric acid. -Regular intake of 500 mg of vitamin C will decrease your uric acid levels in a month or two. -Avoid bakery products. -Increase intake of antioxidant-rich foods like fruits and vegetables. -Drink a minimum of 3 and 1/2 liters of water daily. Water is a medium that aids the kidney to 'strain' the impurities from your body. -Limit meat, poultry and fish - animal proteins are high in purine and this will result in high uric acid levels in the body. -Limit or avoid alcohol. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine - Colchicum 30/ 3 times a day daily for a month.

Dear lybrate user, the bitter truth is once you are diagnosed with diabetes you have to live with it for your rest of life. Diet, exercise & medicine will surely decrease your blood sugar level to normal but it cannot be permanently cured. You have to monitor your blood sugar level every month. However, if you are feeling that your current medication is failing to decrease your blood sugar level then try homoeopathic uranium nit 3x tablets (r. S. Bhargava company). Take 1 tablet, thrice daily, in empty stomach. As you have been suffering from diabetes for more than 10 years, I fear that you may be resistant towards medicine & turned into insulin dependent diabetic patient. If it really happens such then you have to take insulin injection.

Hba1c is the test reveals your average glucose levels that is how well your diabetes is controlled. Fasting and postlunch tests are day to day based and hence may vary according to diet taken that day, exercise n even medication. Some may even have superb fbs/ppbs and yet high hba1c. At such times, it denotes that your current medications are falling short to control yur diabetes and yu may either need higher doses of insulin or stricter diet n exercise. If one could somehow take steps to arrest further progression of diabetes that is stop further drop in pancreatic function i. E. Insulin secretion n action - stability can be achieved, as is with homeopathy. Also diabetes has been linked to stressful lifestyle. Hence here what you could do to arrest further progression. Meet your doctor to first reconsider dosage. Revisit your diet n activity. Identify what stresses you and makes you worry try homeopathy as complementary therapy. Happy to help!

Lybrate-user, the levels mentioned are too high, shows totally uncontrolled diabetes. If you are on treatment, it is clear the current treatment is not helpful or grossly inadequate. Needs immediate improvement. Plus I see that you are having a bmi of 34.09 kgs/m2, showing grade 1 obesity. This also contributes to increased blood sugar. So there needs to be - efforts to reduce weight, additional treatment and proper diet control and exercise. With this multi pronged approach we will be able to bring situation under control. Thanks for the question.

Dear lybrate-user, you are not advised to take honey with warm water. Honey contains 70 calories 10 time sugar. As a diabetic patient carry on your medicines and have physical exercise 30 minutes morning. Take 100% safe ayurveda drugs to control your sugar level. Be attentive to your daily foods. Ok.

Mr. Lybrate-user, you blood sugar levels mentioned are quite with in the expected range when on treatment. What is the hba1c%? it should be <7 or ideally closer to 6.5%. You are controlling the sugar levels really well. Keep it up. Avoiding hyperglycemia is essential as prevents or delays development of long term complications of diabetes.

Mr. Lybrate-user, looking at your weight and height, you have grade 1 obesity with a bmi of 31.39 kgs/m2. According to your height and age ideal body weight should be about 48 kgs, excess weight it self makes it tough to control blood glucose effectively. If glucose is more then it is excreted in urine leading to more frequent urination, hence getting up at night. Ideally blood glucose should be fasting around 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c%<7, then it is considered very good control. If you have 150 mg after dinner, then it is good. Please look at hba1c%. Weight reduction will definitely help. Thanks.

Mr R Gowthaman, Methimazole is the drug for hyperthyroidism. Usually taken for about 18 months and then discontinued. In some cases thyroid function returns to normal or if again excess activity comes back then preferred treatment is either use of radio active iodine or thyroidectomy.
