At one year age. 10 kg is app. Weight ideally. Breast feed tobe given only 2.3 times 8 hrs interval. 4 times you give cereals based soup prepred in milk or curd. That will provide adequate calories and gain in weght. More breast in late night avoided.

As weight gain for your baby in one month is good while on breast feed only, there does not appear any need to switch to formula feed. Breast feed is best for babies, specially so for pre-term babies as breast milk of mothers of such babies modified to meet special needs of these babies. Pl do not switch to formula, consult your pediatrician regularly to monitor growth & development of your babies; as well as to allay fear of inadequate breast milk.

One cannot lose 10 kgs in 1 month even if you are starving. One can lose maximum of 3-5 kgs depending on how obese the body is. Your height and weight looks perfect. But yes you may have some body fat which you can lose by 1. Exercise at least 5 times per week 2. Eat whole/unprocessed foods at regular intervals, while being aware of physical hunger/fullness cues 3. Sleep 7-9 hours per night 4. Don’t engage in extreme diets 5. Stay consistent with your habits 6. Incorporate non-exercise physical activity 7. Ignore food advertising You need a fat loss diet which comprises of whole grains like jowar, bajra, wheat, brown rice, pulses like moong, musoor, bengal gram, lots of vegetables, fruits, eggs, fish, chicken, paneer, healthy oil, nuts and seeds. You need to eat them in right proportion. Avoid eating sugar and sweets, refined foods like maida, noodles pasta, White rice and products, bread. Drink a lot of water.

My daughter is 4 months old diagnosed with nystagmus. What does that mean? Please advise

MBBS, DNB (Ophthalmology), ROP
Ophthalmologist, Coimbatore
My daughter is 4 months old diagnosed with nystagmus. What does that mean? Please advise
Nystagmus is a ocular condition in which the eyes make repetitive, uncontrolled movements. These movements may result in reduced vision and depth perception and can affect balance and coordination. The movement can vary between slow and fast and usually happens in both eyes. The eyes may shake more when looking in certain directions. People with nystagmus may tilt or turn their head to see more clearly. This helps to slow down the eye movements. Some types of nystagmus improve throughout childhood. Rarely, surgery is performed to change the position of the muscles that move the eyes. While this surgery does not cure nystagmus, it may reduce how much a person needs to turn his or her head for better vision. Your daughter has congenital nystagmus. This type starts in infants, usually between 6 weeks and 3 months old. Children with this condition tend to have it in both eyes, which move side to side. Sometimes it is inherited.

My baby has completed 6 months now, for last 20 days she is having loose motions. We are not giving any outside food except mother's milk. The pediatrician advised not to worry, it will stop on its own. First three days we gave econorm, but doctor suggested to stop it as the Baby don't have any infection problem, so no antibiotics needed. Baby is active, no vomiting. But motions didn't stop. What to do ?

It may be your perception that stool is loose. It may be liquid or semi solid but may be many times in a day. It does not require any medicine. Since she is still on exclusive breast milk at 6 months, she requires additional food and top milk too. It is her weaning period. Start with semi solids with any one like kheechadee, dal, suji kheer etc. It may resolve problem.

Hi, your child is almost normal. *from the age of 6 months he/she should start normal diet sharing with you from your meal. * milk be consumed to get plenty of calcium. * the child should take water, periodically to moisten the skin * you should discontinue breast feeding to d child, this will harm your health and the health of the child, as well. * massage at least twice b regularized.
