5 Tips to Prevent Cellulitis

5 Tips to Prevent Cellulitis

Cellulitis is a common contagious bacterial skin infection marked by redness and swelling of the skin that feels tender and hot. It usually occurs when bacteria penetrate through a crack or a cut on the skin’s surface. Although cellulitis can develop anywhere over the face or the body, it is your lower legs that are affected the most. It damages the tissues beneath the skin, spreading to the bloodstream and the lymph nodes. If left untreated, the infection might get aggravated and turn fatal.

Prevention:

In case of a recurrence, preventive antibiotics may be recommended by the doctor. Adopting the below mentioned precautionary measures can help:

1. Gently rinse the wound with soap and water on a daily basis, whenever you go in for a shower.

2. Apply an antibiotic ointment or a cream over the wound to get adequate protection.

3. Use a bandage to dress your wound and change it daily.

4. Watch out for signs of infections such as pain and redness and accordingly go for medical help.

5. People with diabetes often suffer from poor blood circulation. They require extra precautions in order to prevent any skin injury:

  • Minutely check for signs of injury, failing which you might be even more susceptible to infections.
  • Moisturize and lubricate your skin daily to prevent peeling and cracking.
  • Trim your toenails and fingernails carefully so that they do not injure the ambient skin.
  • Wear appropriate gloves and footwear to protect your feet and hands.
  • Treat any infection developing on the skin surface at the right time because they might be contagious. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist and ask a free question.

Under my eyes my skin is pressed inside, I think that it caused by masturbation, it is true? If it is true then what ...
Many people think that if they masturbate their eyes will be sunken deep, or dark circles develop around the eyes, they lose weight or become weak. Etc. All these are myths. None of these things happen because of masturbation. Its the fear about them that is the cause. Take nutritious food, stop worrying. You will be fine.

I am 46 years old male. I am very sad of my hairfall. It seems that I am becoming bald. Please suggest a solution to ...
It is normal to lose about 30-80 strands of hair in a day. The common reasons behind hair fall are lack of essential nutrients in the body, improper and unhealthy dietary habits, hormonal imbalance, certain medications, dandruff, alopecia and other scalp disorders, stress and tension etc. Natural oils such as coconut, olive, jojoba, almond etc. Can be used to massage the scalp for countering hair fall. Gently massage the scalp prior to head bath twice a week. Also check hemoglobin for anaemia and thyroid status with serum tsh. Have more proteins and trace minerals like copper, zinc, selenium in diet. Start taking a hair nutrition supplement. Keep stress away with regular exercise, yoga, meditation. Get the underlying scalp condition like dandruff treated.

I am having fungal infection which is itchy and red .this is more than a year. Tried every remedy. Please help.
Fungal infection is also called as jock itch. First of all please confirm the diagnosis, that it is actually fungal infection and not anything else. Considering that you have fungal infection, you need to take certain medications as well as make certain lifestyle changes. The lifestyle changes include keeping the area dry, not sharing towels with other people and reducing the intake of sweets. A number of antifungal medications are available for the treatment of fungal infection. These include oral as well as topical medications (creams). Itraconazole, luliconazole, terbinafine are some of the molecules which can be used. The dose depends on your severity as well as other factors like your age, pregnancy history if any, breastfeeding if any. A word of caution. Please do not use cheap over the counter medications which are easily available at your local chemist. These medicines contain steroids and are harmful in the long run. Please take a proper treatment after consulting your dermatologist.

I have dandruff. But I've been noticing that my scalp itself decays heavily in form of dandruff. Is it normal dandruff or something different. Can I have a cheap and easy way to get rid of it?

BHMS
Homeopath, Raebareli
Please visit a local doctor to rule out scalp psoriasis in case you are having which is very tough to treat. If not then please note -- hibiscus flowers and leaves can be very helpful in preventing hair loss and to promote hair growth. Hibiscus flowers are used as an effective cure for split ends and dandruff as well. - heat 12-15 hibiscus flowers in 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. - strain the solution and collect the oil. Apply this concoction to the scalp and hairs, leave overnight and wash in the morning. To use the hibiscus leaves, grind them into fine paste and apply the paste to the scalp and hairs. Leave it on for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Rinse off with plenty of water. This controls the hair loss automatically and promotes hair growth.
