Are you aware of the function of appetite hormones in your body? Appetite hormones or hunger hormones are the hormones which are responsible for making you feel hungry, and also account for a decreased appetite, which is common for all of us at times.

Leptin and Ghrelin are the two primary appetite hormones, which are produced in your body.

About Ghrelin
Ghrelin is your body’s appetite increasing hormone, which gets released in the stomach. It is responsible for signaling hunger to your brain. It is said that the ghrelin levels in your body play an important role in how quickly you feel hungry after having a meal. Usually, the ghrelin levels increase before you eat. This signifies that you are hungry. They go down for almost three hours after your meal. It is believed that ghrelin plays a more important role in the regulation of your body weight, which is a much more complex procedure.

About Leptin
Among the two appetite hormones, leptin accounts for being the appetite suppressing hormone. It is considered to play a more important role than ghrelin in maintaining the energy balance of your body. It is also believed that leptin is responsible for the regulation of ghrelin. Leptin helps in signaling the brain that your body has enough energy in the form of body fat. It is considered that the more fat you have, the more amount of leptin is present in your blood. However, the level varies based on factors such as when you took your last meal, and your sleeping patterns.

How to control your hunger hormones?
There are certain ways by which you can control your appetite hormones. It can be done primarily by avoiding food items that contain high fat. When you eat, messages are transmitted to several parts of your body, indicating that you have had enough. While consuming fatty food, this system does not send messages as effectively. Consuming fat makes you consume more calories, which in turn lets you store fat and gain fat.

It has been proven that either a diet which is rich in good carbohydrates or a diet which is high in protein, suppresses your ghrelin production more effectively than a high fat diet. It is important for you to get proper sleep for controlling your appetite hormones. Studies prove that sleep deprivation is associated with an increase in your ghrelin levels, appetite, and hunger, compared to people who get 10 hours sleep on a regular basis.

चाय पीने के दुष्प्रभाव* ☕

दो सौ वर्ष पहले भारतीय घर में चाय नहीं होती थी, लेकिन आज कोई भी घर आये अतिथि को पहले चाय पूछता है। ये बदलाव अंग्रेजों की देन है। कई लोग ऑफिस में दिन भर चाय लेते रहते है, यहाँ तक की उपवास में भी चाय लेते है । किसी भी डॉक्टर के पास जायेंगे तो वो शराब - सिगरेट - तम्बाखू छोड़ने को कहेगा, पर चाय नहीं,
क्योंकि यह उसे पढ़ाया नहीं गया और वह भी खुद इसका गुलाम है. *परन्तु किसी अच्छे वैद्य के पास जाओगे तो वह पहले सलाह देगा चाय ना पियें।*

चाय की हरी पत्ती पानी में उबाल कर पीने में कोई बुराई नहीं परन्तु जहां यह फर्मेंट हो कर काली हुई सारी बुराइयां उसमे आ जाती है।

हमारे गर्म देश में चाय और गर्मी बढ़ाती है, पित्त बढ़ाती है। चाय के सेवन करने से शरीर में उपलब्ध
विटामिन्स नष्ट होते हैं। इसके सेवन से स्मरण शक्ति में दुर्बलता आती है। 

1. चाय का सेवन रक्त आदि की वास्तविक उष्मा को नष्ट करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता है।

२. दूध से बनी चाय का सेवन आमाशय पर बुरा प्रभाव डालता है और पाचन क्रिया को क्षति पहुंचाता है।

 ३. चाय में उपलब्ध कैफीन हृदय पर बुरा प्रभाव डालती है, अत: चाय का अधिक सेवन प्राय: हृदय के रोग को उत्पन्न करने में सहायक होता है। 

 ४. चाय में कैफीन तत्व छ: प्रतिशत मात्रा में होता है जो रक्त को दूषित करने के साथ शरीर के अवयवों को कमजोर भी करता है।

५. चाय पीने से खून गन्दा हो जाता है और चेहरे पर लाल फुंसियां निकल आती है।

६. जो लोग चाय बहुत पीते है उनकी आंतें जवाब दे जाती है. कब्ज घर कर जाती है और मल निष्कासन में कठिनाई आती है।

७. चाय पीने से कैंसर तक होने
की संभावना भी रहती है।

८. चाय से स्नायविक गड़बडियां होती हैं, कमजोरी और पेट में गैस भी।

९. चाय पीने से अनिद्रा की शिकायत भी बढ़ती जाती है।

१०. चाय से न्यूरोलाजिकल गड़बड़ियां आ जाती है।

 ११. चाय में उपलब्ध यूरिक एसिड से मूत्राशय या मूत्र नलिकायें निर्बल
हो जाती हैं, जिसके परिणाम स्वरूप चाय का सेवन करने वाले
व्यक्ति को बार-बार मूत्र आने की समस्या उत्पन्न हो जाती है।

१२. इससे दांत खराब होते है. - रेलवे स्टेशनों या टी स्टालों पर बिकने वाली चाय का सेवन यदि न करें तो बेहतर होगा क्योंकि ये बरतन को साफ किये बिना कई बार इसी में चाय बनाते रहते हैं जिस कारण कई बार चाय विषैली हो जाती है। चाय को कभी भी दोबारा गर्म करके न पिएं तो बेहतर होगा।

१३. बाज़ार की चाय अक्सर अल्युमीनियम के भगोने में
खदका कर बनाई जाती है। चाय के अलावा यह अल्युमीनियम भी घुल कर पेट की प्रणाली को बर्बाद करने में कम भूमिका नहीं निभाता है।

१४. कई बार हम लोग बची हुई चाय को थरमस में डालकर रख देते हैं इसलिए भूलकर भी ज्यादा देर तक थरमस में रखी चाय का सेवन न करें। जितना हो सके चायपत्ती को कम उबालें तथा एक बार चाय बन जाने पर इस्तेमाल की गई चायपत्ती को फेंक दें। 

१५. शरीर में आयरन अवशोषित ना हो पाने से एनीमिया हो जाता है. - इसमें मौजूद कैफीन लत लगा देता है. लत हमेशा बुरी ही होती है. 

१६. ज़्यादा चाय पिने से खुश्की आ जाती है.आंतों के स्नायु भी कठोर बन जाते हैं।

१७. चाय के हर कप के साथ एक या अधिक चम्मच शक्कर ली जाती है जो वजन बढाती है।

१८. अक्सर लोग चाय के साथ नमकीन, खारे बिस्कुट,पकौड़ी आदि लेते है. यह विरुद्ध आहार है. इससे त्वचा रोग होते है.।

१९. चाय से भूख मर जाती है, दिमाग सूखने लगता है, गुदा और वीर्याशय ढीले पड़ जाते हैं। डायबिटीज़ जैसे रोग होते हैं। दिमाग सूखने से उड़ जाने वाली नींद के कारण आभासित कृत्रिम स्फूर्ति को स्फूर्ति मान लेना, यह बड़ी गलती है। 

२०. चाय-कॉफी के विनाशकारी व्यसन में फँसे हुए लोग स्फूर्ति का बहाना बनाकर हारे हुए जुआरी की तरह व्यसन में अधिकाधिक गहरे डूबते जाते हैं। वे लोग शरीर, मन, दिमाग और पसीने की कमाई को व्यर्थ गँवा देते हैं और भयंकर व्याधियों के शिकार बन जाते हैं।

You need to reduce your calorie intake. Restrict rice, potato, sweets, junk foods in your meals. Have a healthy breakfast and have light & early dinners. Have a protein & fiber -rich diet with lots of fruits, salads & vegetables in your daily meals. Drink atleast 3 lts water daily. Exercise / brisk walk for atleast 30 minutes daily is a must. For stomach do stretching / crumps or shaping of stomach.

You need to increase your calorie intake by increasing your carbohydrates & protein intake. You can have parathas, cheese sandwiches in your breakfast. Increase 1 chapati more in your lunch & dinner. Add rice in your lunch. Include vegetables, dal, salad ,curd in your daily meals. You can have milkshakes, cookies fruits in between your meals. Add sweetdish. Eat every 2-3 hours.

Loosing weight is not that tough. You can loose easily but for that You need to reduce your calorie intake. Restrict rice, potato, sweets, junk foods in your meals. With the evolution of medical technology, we have made inroads when it comes to evolved methods of treating a variety of ailments and conditions. The use of lasers is now commonplace for a number of surgeries and non-invasive procedures that can help in treating many conditions. From hair removal to surgeries, there are a number of places where lasers enjoy medical and cosmetic use. There is a common misnomer that lasers have detrimental effects and may even be carcinogenic or cancer causing in nature.

Let us find out why lasers cannot cause cancer.

  1. Penetration of light: For many people, it may be a cause of concern that laser treatment of the hair, skin or other parts of the body is done with the penetration of high energy beams in that part of the body. Yet, the beams do not penetrate that deeply. Usually, this penetration only happens to the extent of hair follicles and skin, which leaves the internal organs safe.
  2. Redness: At the very maximum, the lasers can cause a reaction like redness on the skin. This does not mean that the lasers are capable of causing cancer. This can simply be treated with the help of ice application on the affected area.
  3. Mutations: There have been many reports that say the ionising radiation of the laser beams can cause DNA mutations. Yet, this is not true. These DNA mutations can lead to the manifestation and production of abnormal and cancerous cells, which can further progress and spread to become malignant tumours. Yet, laser treatments and applications do not have the power to cause such DNA mutations, and there is no medical evidence that suggests the same.
  4. Treating areas near reproductive organs: There are many women who opt for laser hair removal which is a more permanent solution for waxing and other forms of hair removal that we go through on a regular basis. But many women are also concerned that it may actually cause problems and cancer when it comes to the reproductive organs, in case the hair removal treatment and lasers are applied to the area near these organs. This is not true because the laser beams are merely applied to the hair follicles of the area. Since, laser beams are not applied to the reproductive organ, which ensures that there is no effect on the internal reproductive organ in any way.

Before trying out laser treatment, it is important to try it on a small portion of your skin so that you can be sure that it does not affect you and cause a reaction. Further, for laser related surgeries, it is important to turn to a well known clinic, hospital or doctor so that the right level of energy is used during the surgery.

On the other hand, for simple cooking, use olive oil. But don’t use extra virgin olive oil for cooking, as heat at higher levels can destroy the Vitamin E and Polyphenol compounds in the Olive Oil.

Hi. Thanks for your query. If your blood sugar levels are maintained then only can you avoid excess storage of fats. The sugars need to be maintained by following good diet and exercise routine. For a diabetic it is best advised to have a diet planned as per the sugar levels, lifestyle and history. Though you can follow some guidelines - The sugar levels will fluctuate depending on what you ate or did not eat, stress levels and activity levels. You have to try and manage a balanced carb intake. Have small frequent meals. Do not fast for long hours. Your diet must include whole grains, seasonal fruits, vegetables, small amounts of nuts and dairy and pulses or dals or lean meats like chicken or fish and egg. Starchy vegetables need to be planned into the diet. Avoid a very heavy meal at one time. Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar. Avoid junk foods. Exercise and stay active. Avoid exercise if sugar levels are above 250 mg/dl. Do not attempt to try out too many remedies as you could go into hypoglycaemia. Sleep well. It's all a matter of discipline.

For allergy of Wheat, try Gluten Free products. You need to increase your calorie intake by increasing your carbohydrates & protein intake. You can have parathas, cheese sandwiches in your breakfast. Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly medication is needed initially to manage the high sugar levels. Then start by following healthy lifestyle and you can slowly reduce medication. Hello, Accept with the grace and start following a good diet to loose weight, if you wish to. Lemon water is no magical drink to lose weight, you have to focus on overall diet.

Hello, Visceral fat (central fat) is very common which happens due to faulty lifestyle and hormonal imbalance. Exercise regularly(on overall body) and have a good, balanced diet for overall fat loss.

Take all milk and milk products, eggs, pulses, sprouts, nuts, tofu, rajmah, chole, soyabean, paneer, chicken, fish etc. To gain muscle mass.

Vitamin K - Facts You Never Knew About It!

Vitamins are essential micronutrients which the body requires, though in small amounts, for optimal health. These chemicals play a crucial role in keeping our body healthy and disease free.One such vitamin is vitamin K, which is essential for optimal blood clotting process, and also has multiple other benefits. More details about the functions, benefits and sources are listed below.

Functions/Benefits:

  1. Vitamin K is actually a group of vitamins and has K1, K2, and K3. The functions and benefits accordingly will depend on the actual chemical being referred to.
  2. These are fat soluble vitamins and therefore absorption is better when something fatty is eaten along with it
  3. Vitamin K1 or phyloquilline reaches the liver and is essential for blood clotting. Reduced levels of vitamin K can lead to uncontrolled bleeding, but this is very rare in adults. Newborns can have this problem, and therefore, it is common to give them a one shot of vitamin K injection.
  4. Vitamin K2 is produced by gut bacteria and reaches blood vessel walls and bones. It prevents hardening and calcification of arteries, which is the main cause of heart disease.
  5. It helps in improving calcium and other mineral concentration in the bones and makes the matrix strong. It can be used in osteoporosis to reverse and control bone loss. It can also be used to heal fractured bones.
  6. It slows the growth of cancer cells and can be used to stabilise cancer. It has been shown to improve multiple forms including hepatocellular, prostate, colon, and oral cancer.
  7. It is beneficial in controlling Alzheimer’s disease and improves memory loss in ageing people
  8. It improves insulin action and therefore prolongs onset of type 2 diabetes
  9. It has been shown to have antioxidant properties (as most other vitamins) and also helps in reducing toxin buildup
  10. It is good for skin health and can help control bruising and dermatitis

Sources:
Vitamin K is found naturally in many foods and the daily dose required for an adult is about 120 to 150 mcg/day. Therefore supplementation is usually not required.
Leafy green vegetables including spinach, okra, cabbage, beans broccoli, and asparagus

  1. Fermented foods like yoghurt
  2. Soybean in all forms including medium cooked as well and Japanese diet uses boiled, fermented soybean called natto, which contains tremendous amount of vitamin K
  3. Nuts, such as cashews, almonds, walnuts, are a good source
  4. Strawberries, grapes, prunes, and apples 
  5. Seafood such as salmon and shrimp contain good amount to control heart attack and stroke.
  6. Meat (duck, beef, chicken, and lamb)

Supplements are to be avoided, especially in pregnant and/or nursing mothers and people with a history of stroke, heart disease, heart attack and blood clotting problems.

Hello, Essential HP is a good supplement for adults, bit it has to be taken under the supervision of nutrition advisor. Post TB a constantly monitored diet can help better.
