Greying of hair before the age of 35 years is referred to as premature greying. It has seen an increase over the past several years, and the main reasons could be stress or anxiety, improper diet, overuse of shampoosand conditioners or, of course, it could be inyour genes. There have been cases of children as young as 8-10 years of age reporting greying of hair. The premature greying of hair can be successfully treated with Homeopathic medicines. The Homeopathic remedies for premature greying of hair are made of natural substances and are free from any side effects. The Homeopathic medicines act in the most gentle and natural way to halt the process of greying of hair.

Nothing to worry. If pain perssists just get Treadmill Test done. Also you can get a 2D Echocardigram done to rule out any Structural Valve problem. If both the tests are normal nothing to worry. Also exercise to reduce weight ic you have BMI >24. You can have low fat diet and low carb diet. Hope this answers your concern. Have a healthy day.

Hi you should start taking a diet less in oil and saturated fats. Avocado oil carries the monounsaturated fat that protects heart by reducing LDL cholesterol levels and hence can be used in cooking. Add oatmeal and high fiber foods in your diet like beans, apples, barley, pears etc. Non vegetarians can turn towards having fish as fish contains omega 3 that has many benefits for heart. Even, walnuts, almonds and other nuts can improve blood cholesterol.

How Does The Heart's Electrical Conduction System Work?

M.B.B.S. , PG Diploma In Clinical Cardiology
Cardiologist, Delhi
How Does The Heart's Electrical Conduction System Work?

The heart's electrical conduction system plays a very important role in cardiovascular functioning. Also known as the atrioventricular (AV) conduction system, it regulates and controls the timing of the heartbeat.

How does the heart's electrical conduction system work?

There is a collection of electrical cells in the upper right atrium of the heart known as the sinoatrial (SA) node which acts as a natural pacemaker and generates electrical signals. These signals travel through specialized electrical pathways and stimulate the muscular walls of the heart to contract in a rhythmic manner. This gives rise to the heartbeat that pulses at a specific frequency every minute.

What is the effect of fluctuations in electrical activity on the heart?

The standard heart rate in human being ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. It slows down when a person sleeps and speeds up when one experiences physical or emotional heightening. These fluctuations are triggered by the brain or other systems of the body and signal the SA node to generate charges more rapidly or slowly. This leads to spikes and drops in the heart rate, depending on the nature of the situation.

What happens when there is dysfunction in the heart's electrical activity?

When the heart's electrical conduction system does not function properly, it leads to the occurrence of a condition known as arrhythmia or abnormal heart rhythm. This happens when electrical impulses are generated in an irregular manner and causes tachycardia (rapid heartbeats) or bradycardia (slow heartbeats) which takes place in jarring infrequent tempos.

What causes fluctuations in the heart's electrical activity?

There are various kinds of triggers that cause the heart rate to fluctuate. The exact nature of fluctuation also depends on the type of trigger. A few everyday examples of these causes are as follows:

  • Exercise and strenuous physical activity increases electrical activity as the heart is required to beat faster so as to increase the supply of blood and oxygen to the muscles.
  • Sleep and rest reduce heart rate as the body is not needed to exert itself.
  • Release of adrenaline into the bloodstream causes the heart rate to spike up. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a cardiologist.

7 Ways To Control Hypertension

7 Ways To Control Hypertension

Hypertension, which is also known as high blood pressure is a prominent factor that is responsible for the development of many serious health issues like cardiac disorder, chronic kidney diseases, vision loss and stroke. The dominant causes of hypertension include troubled lifestyle style, genetics, environmental factors and internal imbalances. You cannot possibly control the chances of suffering from hypertension but you can always prevent and minimize the risk of the problems that are associated with hypertension.

The following are some lifestyle tips that can help you to manage and minimize the risk of developing hypertension:

  • Maintain a healthy body weight: Weight plays a crucial role in the prevention of hypertension. People who are obese run the risk of developing hypertension. It is advisable to lose excessive body fat to maintain an ideal body weight. A well-maintained body weight minimizes the risk of hypertension.
  • Eat a healthy and balanced diet: Unhealthy food intake is a primary factor that causes hypertension. Eating a healthy and balanced diet enables you to manage your blood pressure effectively. Incorporate plenty of fresh fruits and leafy vegetables, especially the ones rich in potassium. Limit excess intake of calories, sugar, and fat as they tend to increase the risk of hypertension.
  • Reduce consumption of salt: Higher sodium intake increases your blood pressure level. Avoid high-sodium processed and packaged foods as they are high in sodium content. A low-sodium diet enables you to keep your blood pressure normal.
  • Exercise regularly: An active lifestyle is known to lower the risk of hypertension. Make sure to indulge yourself into some physical activities on a daily basis.
  • Limit the alcohol intake: Excessive intake of alcohol can raise your blood pressure level. Limit your alcohol consumption to minimize the chances of hypertension.
  • Monitor your blood pressure: Monitor your blood sugar level on a regular basis. Hypertension usually does not show any symptoms. If your blood pressure ranges between 120-139/80-89 millimeters of mercury it is an indication that you run a higher risk of developing hypertension. A raise in blood pressure demands moderation of lifestyle practices and controlled food intake.
  • Manage stress level: Excessive stress and anxiety are not good for your blood pressure. Severe stress is known to shoot up your blood pressure level which leads to the development of many other health related complications including the improper functioning of crucial organs like heart and kidney. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

Increase heart beat can be due to various physiological conditions like heavy physical exercise, anxiety induce, stress, high caffeine intake and also due to some pathological conditions like thyroid disorder, cardiac issues, anemia and more. So to rule out some blood test and additional investigations like ecg, echocardiogram, chest xray etc need to be done to find out underlying cause. Along with it reduce your caffeine intake, quit smoking if you do so, perform relaxing technigues to remain stress free.

Hi Lybrate user, It seems that you are sufferring from anxiety disorder with hypochondriasis. That means excessive preoccupation with own health. When minor illness seems very big. You have to take antianxiety antidepressant medications such as SSRI selective seretonin reuptake inhibitor. Side by side you have to do yoga. Pranayam.meditation regularly. Focus on positive sides of your life. Delete negative thoughts. It is very much normal to have physical illness. But do not let it rule over you. Afterall none of us will escape alive at the end! so enjoy the moments. Take supportive medicines.

Hi Lybrate user yes. Early morning palpitation may be a feature of chronic ob structive sleep apnea. That may be due to chronic nasal blockage. Due to sinusitis, or deviated nasal septum or nasal polyp may be the cause. Is there snoring during your sleep? If yes. Then go for x ray nose and paranasal sinuses. That may diagnose deviated nasal septum or polyp or sinusitis. If palpitation associated with reeling of head and/or chest pain. Then go for 24 hour holter monitoring.

Dear User, Please get a routine blood check up but before that I want to tell you that many people have low bp. But you have sufficient energy and no problems associated with it. Then just take a soluntion of salt and sugar (very less amount) daily for 7 days and with that have plenty of water and proper diet. If within 7 days you see your bp getting normal than well and good if still not then get a complete blood count done and consult a nearby Homoeopathic doctor.

Hi Ideal blood pressure for your age is 120/80 mmHg. 120 is systolic blood pressure .which depends mainly on cardiac contraction force and heart rate. 80 is diastolic pressure. And it represents the resistance of blood vessels. Systolic pressure is also increased in anxiety and tension state. And it also normalises with some relaxation techniques. But increase in diastolic pressure is not desirable at all. So if your blood pressure is 130/90 for more than 3 occassions in a month. Then you need to modify your lifestyle. Such as doing Yoga. Pranayam.brisk walking for 30 mnts everyday. Cut off carbohydrate and lipid level in your diet. Do all this for 3 months. If tjen also BP is same .then go for antihypertensive medication.

Breathing Problem - Common Causes Behind It!

MBBS, MD - General Medicine
General Physician, Gurgaon
Breathing Problem - Common Causes Behind It!

Breathing is life, without breathig, there is no life. Who knows this better than an asthmatic or someone with breathing problems like wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath 24/7? If you have breathing problems, read on about possible causes and treatments for them

Causes

  • There can be a number of causes of breathing problems. They can happen due to colds, acute sinusitis or inflammation of sinuses. This usually subsides in a week or two with the inflammation going down and the sinuses draining out.
  • But if you are still experiencing breathing problems, you could be in more dangerous territory.
  • Breathing difficulties can happen in a case of asthma, allergies, and infections of the lungs, bronchitis and even heart problems especially if you feel a shortness of breath during exertion. These can all be long-term problems that need proper management.

Symptoms
Chronic issues that cause breathing problems, especially asthma and allergies have a number of symptoms like

  1. Nasal and chest congestion
  2. Runny nose
  3. Itchy or watery eyes
  4. Cough
  5. Wheezing
  6. Laboured and/or shallow breathing.

A number of virus and allergens like pollen reach the lungs via the nasal passage. Any inflammation in the nasal passage due to an allergy is a major cause for concern because the number one trigger for asthma is allergies. If left undiagnosed and untreated, these can make life hell for you.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD, which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis, also causes breathing problems. Breathing issues can also stem from other serious diseases like lung cancer, tuberculosis, and pneumonia. Most of these can be diagnosed by a specialist.

How are breathing problems treated?

  1. Breathing problems caused due to asthma and allergies are usually treated by avoiding allergy triggers like air pollutants, pollen, dog hair, dust, mites or dander.
  2. Wearing masks, avoiding peak traffic, staying indoors during low air quality days, all make a significant difference to allergy and asthma sufferers.
  3. Medications are another way to treat breathing problems due to asthma and allergies. Allergy drugs such as antihistamines and decongestants can make it easy to breathe for some.
  4. Inhaled steroids are also given to people with chronic allergies and sinusitis for reducing inflammation in the airways. Allergy shots to reduce sensitivity to allergens are another option.
  5. Asthma is treated with inhaled or oral drugs that help open nasal airways and reduce inflammation. These cut down on breathing difficulties because the airways are cleared of excess mucus and inflammation.
  6. If you have more serious issues like cancers, heart disease and lung diseases, the medication will vary according to your diagnosis. Your specialist will diagnose the problem first and set you on a proper course of medication.

The last piece of advice before we go, don’t ignore breathing difficulties especially if they persist beyond 2-3 weeks, get yourself a doctor’s appointment.
