Sir Before 10 days I decided to suicide but someone stops me. Actually I am tired of my life. But I know suicide is not the only option. But I can't live without him but my family not support us. Sir please tell me something to get rid of tensions because I don't want to take any wrong step.

I am so glad that you are reaching out so soon. You are all of seventeen years and you have fallen in love and obviously parents will not approve and because of that you want to end your life. If you are like this no one will want to marry you! You have to give yourself several more years before being sure of your partner. You will be surprised how much you both will change and that someone more suitable may be waiting for you. You are indeed fragile. You are very young and have a full life ahead of you. You have turned a lot of anger towards yourself. You must identify that anger, its origins, and why you feel you need to turn it against yourself. Life is precious and beautiful depending on how you want to see it, and what circumstances you allow to disturb it. Sometimes when we are not able to get what we want, we need to adjust our wants to cope with the situation. People who cannot make these changes to suit the situation end up becoming maladjusted persons and can suffer more problems in life. It is our resilience that is a sign of good mental health. Surely you do not come into that category! Please talk to a counselor, either with your parents or without them too, and discuss your problems at length. That person may want you to meet with a psychiatrist, if it is really serious. Even so, do not give up on the counseling and cooperate with both the therapies, sincerely. At your age you will need to see a lot more of life and realize that you are not mature enough to take your life for want of proper understanding of your circumstances. A counselor will do the needful to explain these intricacies of life. Nothing is worth taking your life for. Your anger is making you have these thoughts and if it is not dealt with soon, you could end up depressed or you may already be depressed. Don’t be so rigid. Negotiate everything. There is always a way, if you are flexible. You must learn to love yourself and your life.

I am not getting good sleep due to depression. Always thinking of past events and expired relatives.

I am not getting good sleep due to depression. Always thinking of past events and expired relatives.
You must meet with a counselor and deal with the depression and much change will take place in yoru life and in sleep. Anyway do follow some of these recommendations and see how it works: In your case particularly, do not sleep during the day; don’t even lie down. Go for regular exercise (breathing through your nostrils only) at a fixed time (at about 6 am) every day, whether you sleep or not. You must develop this habit of sleeping by 10 pm latest every night and wake up at a uniform time by 6 am every morning, even if you do not get sleep. If you do not get sleep, just lie down and if you have a bed lamp (or you could get one) lie down and read something light but not exciting. Your eyes will tire and you will fall asleep. If you like you may also put on light and soft music with the sleep function on. Depending on whether you are a visual or auditory person, you may watch TV in a lying down position until you feel sleepy. Have a warm bath before going to bed (for some people a cold bath at night seems to induce sleep! If you are one of them, please do so). Place the head side of your bed in a North-South position. The room must be as dark as possible and there should be no electronic items that give off even a light LED glow. There must be ample ventilation in the room. Avoid strong odors, except lavender, on your body or in the room, or on your sheets and clothes. There should not be any live plants in your bedroom. Sleep with the lightest of clothes or without any clothing. When lying down to sleep, lie down on your left ear as much as possible. Do not sleep directly under an overhead fan. You must eat a good breakfast, a fairly light lunch, and an early dinner, which should be a very light meal. Whatever you eat in the other meals, have only a pure carbohydrate meal at night with any vegetables, and preferably before 8 pm. Do not drink much liquids after or near about dinner time. When lying down to sleep you may use the 4-7-8 breathing pattern of sleep inducement i.e. Breathe in for four counts through your nostril only, hold for 7 counts, and exhale with a whoosh sound, through your mouth only, for 8 counts. Repeat this four times in the morning and just before you sleep at night. If you know Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT (check this out either on YouTube or Google), then please practice this too for sleep induction. Self-hypnosis and slow relaxation techniques, at night will be tremendously useful. Acupuncture or acupressure will both be very useful too. Pray last thing at night before you sleep.

Hi, Contrary to general belief ,Masturbation is almost certainly ok for your sex life. The fact is that most males masturbate. Masturbation isn't only about sex, it's a routine way of relieving stress, clearing your head before work, or going to sleep. But off course too much of anything can be bad. It leads to anxiety and loss of control over body mechanics. Though it may be ok thrice in a week, too much of it affects the senses and sensibility of an individual. Suggestions for you to reduce frequency of masturbation: 1. Read good books, newspaper 2. Spend time with family members 3. Daily walk 30 minutes 4. Avoid porn 5. Avoid spending times with not so good friends and alone. A video consultation with us is recommended.

Hello. You need to consult a mental health professional/ psychiatrist for management of your anxiety disorder. Some drugs are prescribed for as-and-when-required basis (eg. Cloba), which gives you immediate relief but anxiety symptoms will reappear again in no time. It is recommended that for proper treatment of anxiety disorder anti-depression drugs be started along with psychotherapy (CBT, PCT etc). If you suffer from "phobia" of some kind then you will have to undergo sessions for Systemic Desensitization, a form of Behavior therapy. Do not loose hope. Get help. Thanks and best luck.

Dear user. I can understand. Depressive disorder or depression is a neuro chemical disorder. Suicidal tendency is one main symptom of depression. You must be able to distinguish between mental disease and mental disorder. Your problem is a mental disorder. Not a mental disease. These mental disorders are usually treated with a combination of medicines and other means like awareness, meditation, Psychotherapy techniques, life style changes etc. Take care.

Stammering or Stuttering is typically recognised by a tense struggle to get words out. This makes it different from the normal non-fluency we all experience which includes hesitations and repetitions. Commonly it involves repeating or prolonging sounds or words, or getting stuck without any sound (silent blocking). Sometimes people put in extra sounds or words. Often people lose eye contact. Some people who stammer talk their way round difficult words so that you may not realise they stammer at all. This avoidance of words, and avoidance of speaking in some or many situations, is an important aspect of stammering. Stammering varies tremendously from person to person and is highly variable for the person who stammers who may be fluent one minute and struggling to speak the next. Get an mri brain and eeg with a psychiatrist evaluation.

Good morning, Social anxiety problem is a most common problem in the society and is highly prevalent. Just because you are coming up with it online on this forum does not mean you are alone. There are many people that are self-medicating with drugs and alcohol to get over the social anxiety disorder. There are maladaptive mechanisms to treat their own problems. While it is best to consult a neuropsychiatrist like you have done, I believe it may be helpful initially to consult online since getting out of home or showing up at a doctor's may be a problem at this stage. I hope you do so as soon as possible. Look forward to hearing from you. If you need help with booking an appointment online with me on this website either text, audio or video appointment for a confidential and private consultation you may do so by contacting the help desk ofLybrate.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Loosing someone dear and near causes grief. Grief leads to disappointment. Grief related disappointment manifests symptoms as in the case of depression. But disappointment symptoms are far shorter in duration than depression. These symptoms will vanish in some days or weeks. Don’t worry. Physical exercise, outdoor games, entertainment, hobbies etc could help you divert your attention. I suggest cognitive therapy. Take care.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common mental health problem. Symptoms typically include recurring thoughts and repetitive actions in response to the recurring thoughts. A common example is recurring thoughts about germs and dirt, with a need to wash your hands repeatedly to "clean off the germs" However, there are many other examples like sexual thoughts, counting, checking, orderliness, etc. The usual treatments are cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant medicine, or both. Treatment often works well to reduce the symptoms and distress of OCD greatly. Consult a psychiatrist. All the best.

Can playing video games ,helps to reduce depression? Can Playing video games ,helps in having a positive mindset?
Video games are like having your time with screen space just like watching tv or working with a computer. It is one other form of or to be kept as small time timepass or entertainment. No research to my knowledge says that it will work for depression or to have a positive mindset. Rather there are adverse effects only as results proven by research due to long time usage of video games. It shrinks your thinking, increases immediate gratification, further increases addiction stimulating the craving center of the brain. If you are in depression anergia will be one among the symptom and if you play video games you will be doing nothing other than restricted to the game without any fruitful work or any learning. By winning a target r a game you might get a satisfaction and momentary happiness which gives a falsified image compared to in real life you will be bugged and bored as winning needs lots of hardworking and motivation. Take up some outdoor games, feel the fresh air, sweat, exercise and keep urself healthy. Take care.

Hi I have been thru your concerns. One thing which you have not mentioned is this behaviour of Agression in his school also I would like to know his behaviour within his peer group the importance of this is that is this behaviour of Agression visible at all places or with his parents only .If the behaviour of Agression is visible everywhere like complaints from the school teachers of hitting other children and disobedience not remaining seated at one place, not able to play harmoniously with his friends, poor attention span than I would suggest to get him evaluated at a Child guidance clinic but if it is with parents only than the reasons of said behaviour should be found. In general I would tell you that behaviours are always learnt which means that it is possible that your child has learnt to get things doen his way by shouting ,misbehaving or hitting you among others. So the simple principle of modifying this behaviour is that by not giving him what he is trying to get by doing that particular behaviour so it means if you could give him a signal that if we don't have to give something to you howmuch ever you misbehave we not be giving u.when you start practicing it initially this behaviour may increase more but if you remain firm and you don't give him into his demands the child will get signal that I cannot get everything thing through misbehave if they don't have to give me they will not give me at any cost .But this practice will also test you r patience if you remain firm you improve the behaviour of you r child .I hope I answer u.also U can contact privately.

If a child is behaving with so much anger outbursts we first question the parenting, whether all his needs from the beginning were met immediately before, and he is to throw temper tantrums to meet his needs. Any child learns patterns of behaviours from the known others, parents and environment. If the parenting and environment is fine you need to assess the child for IQ/ADHD or for other behavioural problems with a clinical psychologist.in this modern world with ao much of violent cartoons and movies if the child is exposed to many the child might mimic certain super heroes with his acquired knowledge and act to his needs of gratification. If the child falls under ADHD please provide him the needful pharmacotherapy treatment and behavioural therapy to change his behaviour. Take care.

Dr. How to judge a person if he/she is in depression? Doctor please suggest me something?
Depression has its own set of symptoms like anhedonia, anergia, decresaed sleep, appetite, lowered concentration and attention etc and at its peak of severity the person might have suicidal ideas. The symptom and severity vary with person to person. Having hopelessness and sadness alone won't put anyone to be depressed but they are part and parcel of the symptoms. Thyroid in medical condition put the person more into the condition of depression due to neurotransmitter imbalance. Please get the person treated by a psychiatrist as depression is actually adverse to a healthy and happy life. CBT and mindfulness from a clinical psychologist will also help as an adjunct, take care.
