I had an operation as my ankle joint of right leg was dislocated, now 6 months past I have got the screw removed from ankle, but some times while moving ankle I feel harsh pain and still there is little swelling, what can I do?

Rest. Take a break from your normal activities. Ice. Place an ice pack or bag of frozen peas on the sore area for 15 to 20 minutes three times a day. Compression. Use a compression bandage to reduce swelling. Elevation. Elevate your foot to help reduce swelling.

Hello there! My father is having severe lower back pain since Tuesday morning. He's unable to move at all. All he can do is go washroom that too with mom's help. This happened few months back too. He used Homeopathy meds and got better. He's using the meds since yesterday and there's no improvement. What can be done to give him relief? Any food to give enough nourishment to the bones? Is there any permanent cure to this lower back pain? Please help out.

Severe lower back pain and restricted mobile can be because of muscles spasm. Apply lukewarm sesame oil on lower back and take hot water bag thrice a day. He should take complete bed rest for 4 to 5 days. He should restrict forward bending and carrying heavy weights. He can eat calcium and protein rich food for example egg whites ; Moong in any form; guava; nachani; milk etc. He should food items which are heavy to digest. If no relief in 1 or 2 days then consult your doctor for X ray. Ayurvedic medicines ; basti ; Katibasti will reduce the pain and prevent recurrence.

Take hot water fermentation daily and avoid jerk in spine, avoid maintaining one posture prolonged duration, avoid forward bending and back ward bending. Consult any nearest physiotherapist.

My Advice would be Quadriceps Static exercises! If X-ray shows Severe degenerative changes Knee Replacement would be a better Option too!

I am 51 years old. Often I feel pain in right knee downside from front of knee only. I have no other problem. I am purely vegetarian. I do not take an other medicine. Some times I take painkiller diclofen-paracetamol X-ray of the both knees are normal. No abnormality.

20 Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

bandage is not of any use for fractures. It depends on which bone is fractured - if its toe fractures then you dont need any thing other than ice and elevation - but if its any other fracture then you need a proper plaster cast

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hi lybrate-user, pls inform about any injury / trauma over the area involved. Meanwhile, gentle massage over the affected part with lukewarm herbal pain relieving oil for 20 minutes followed by hot fomentation. It will relax the muscles and the veins of your affected part improving the blood supply to the organ and giving strength to it. Please avoid over-use of the part affected i. E. Lifting weight - pushing or pulling heavy objects. Give proper rest to the part - let it heal with the time. This will greatly help. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking.

Hi = relax and stay positive. = increase fluid intake. = eat seasonal fruits for natural vitamins = do streching of hamstring, quadriceps, and calf muscles. = if you are overweight, reduce weight by cycling or swimming as it gives low impact on joints. = do check your calcium and vit. D = apply moist heat pad to affected joint and muscles. If still you dont get relief see a physiotherapist as there are various causes for leg/ joint pain and some test may be required for further investigation. Best wishes.

Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

Is there any risk if rod is removed from thigh. Before 1 year the rod was inserted because thigh bone was fractured. And in how many weeks a person recover after removal of rod and start proper walking.

Either you can keep it for some more time or you can remove it without any side effects. There will be no problem if you remove it. Both the options are open to you. You can walk after removing the rod with some precautions. And within few weeks it will be normal. You will not require to do anything special after the removal except for taking safety precautions. Do some mild physical activity as suggested by the surgeon.

Treatment depends upon what is the diagnosis, what are the problems to patient and how it can be cured. Doctors can offer you treatment which is best for you. You have to take decision after knowing about pros and cons of treatment advised. You can't run away from surgery just by saying you are not interested. You should know what will happen if surgery is done and what if it's not done. If you can send MRI report, I'll be able to guide you properly. My opinion will be neutral depending upon your problem and you can decide by yourself what to do. Do hot fomentation twice daily. Postural correction- always sit with a small pillow at your low back. Sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises like bridging and bhujang asana x twice daily. Sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees or on your sides with a pillow between your knees. And get vit d levels checked. Go for regular walks follow 30-30 rule when at work. After every 30 min of work. Do 30 sec of stretching or stand and walk a bit.

Kindly show me photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.
