I am 51, healthy Male, with no known health problems. I have been taking 3-4 pegs of Whisky or Rum daily for last 20 years. Off late I have started gaining weight as I have full time sitting job. I do 30-40 minutes morning walk regularly and some free hand exercise too. Is the liquor culprit here, for my weight gain or does it cause weight gain?

Your BMI is 33, which falls in Obese Class 1 category. Right now your body is carrying about 25-30 extra Kgs which can effect the functioning of vital organs in the long run. It is better if you consult any Dietician in your town who can create a Diet + Exercise plan for you. It is important for you to get healthy and fit right now since you are in your 50s now. Yes, Liquor does cause weight gain. Because you tend to eat lot of snacks with liquor and after drinks people tend to overeat food. Its better to look after you healthy now.

How much water should I drink. M 29 years old. Weight is 80 kg. Height is 5'6" I go to gym. I used to have 20 ml of aloe Vera n 20 ml of amla juice with 40 ml of lukewarm water. After dat I go to gym. N since it is cold now a days .how much water should I drink? And the process of taking aloe Vera n amla juice is correct? How many times should I need to take the juice.

Dear Lybrate User. You are making some efforts to lose weight, however some of the efforts are not in the right direction. Things like Amla Juice or Aloe Vera have no effect on weight loss. These are just general health tonics. These products are mainly promoted as short cuts to weight loss, however there are no short cuts in nature. If you have to lose weight, then only a regulated diet and continuous exercise will help you. - Add more Fruits /Salads/Proteins to your diet. - Double your water intake. One glass every hour. - Cut down Oils/Sugar/Maida/Ghee from your diet. - Cut down Puris/Parathas/Pizzas/Burgers/Fried Rice. - Eat slowly and mindfully. Take 1600 calorie diet daily. - Reduce portion size. Take small bits of food in your plate. - Exercise daily - 'Intense' Cardio for 40-60 mins. - Reduce socialising/company of people who are addicted to junk food and overeating. - Love yourself and respect your body.

I last checked my thyroid levels 4 months back. I am doing brisk walking for 1 hour daily. I am a housewife doing moderate housework daily. The problem I have is bulged stomach i.e, Fat belly. Lybrate-user there is so many causes you are not putting on weight. Nutritional causes. Recurrent illness [or recurrent infection ]like typhoid, malaria, even recurrent cold cough, some harmonal causes -- your family history. Disturbed metabolism means you are getting your nutrious meals but are not absorbed from your intestine. So firstly correct your metabolism & immune system. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, sprouts, fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Medicines or supplements will not work in isolation. You have to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal for them to do you any good.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if you have confirmed diabetes, then starting treatment with appropriate drugs is essential. In addition regular exercise and diet control also is required. You should avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, other bakery items and sweetened aerated drinks and high fat milk product. Also avoid fructose corn syrup containing products and high; y proceeded food products. Daily exercise of at least 1 hour, brisk walking can be a very good option. Plus refrain from alcohol and smoking. Basically adapt a modified lifestyle. Thanks.

It totally depends on the amount of spray used. If a lot of spray was used, and symptoms like nausea and vomiting occur, rush to hospital. If little was sprayed the you need not worry.

Hello,I have problem of thin body (weight). In starting, I thought it may be becoz of stomach-worms. I took tablet for that but nothing in result. Somebody advised me for iron folic acid (tablet) for better future pregnancy, after using it I found that my weight is increasing. It was clear showing from my face. But due to bowel movements I left that tablets. Please help me to gain weight.
