I am having thyroid since March 2016. Don't want to take any allopathic medicine. Putting on weight. Kindly help me.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Lybrate-user, if any one has hypothyroidism, then only way to treat it is to take thyroxine hormone as a replacement. The condition occurs due to deficiency of thyroxine hormone produced by thyroid gland. This hormone is required for development and functioning of brain on day to day basis. Plus it is necessary for multiple metabolic activities in the body. If not provided (as tablets of thyroxine) then considerable problems occur including weight gain, slow heart rate, tired feeling, early fatigue, lack of interest, dry hair, dry skin and hair fall, difficulty in speech, inability to concentrate, swelling of face and lower limbs, irregular periods and excess flow, irritability, anxiety and depression. Only remedy for this is taking thyroixine tablets for life time. There are no other options. Choice is yours. Thanks.

My mother is 46 years old, she has come to know that she is suffering from thyroid. please give me suggestion what to eat and what not to eat and other tips.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. Lybrate-user, by saying" she is suffering from thyroid" are referring to hypothyroidism? because thyroid is a normal gland present is all of us, which produces hormone thyroxine. So please clarify that. If she has hypothyroidism, then she has to avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, peanuts, mustard and coffee. She should use whole grain flour for roti and chapati, avoid maida and products made of that. Should consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Should exercise daily for 1 hour and take a restricted diet. Thanks.

I am 38-year-old unmarried hypothyroid 60 kg .First I was hyperthyroid in 2001 and was on Neomercazole. In 2005 two doses radio iodine taken. Then on 100 mcg eltroxin for 7 yrs. Then 125 mcg thyronorm till 2016. Now 125 mcg thyronorm 5 days and 100 mcg 2 days per week. I had some needle like growth near inner labia portion after radioiodine last dose. I treated it with thuja and nitric acid homoeo medicine then. It went out from inner side to outside labia. L continued thuja. Then it appeared all over. Later itching persisted on those parts and a lump remained on iñner side of labia with itching. Also had consistent white discharge from 2010. But after taking medicine from gynecologist white discharge subsided. But small bump and itching persisted with discomfort increasing during periods. A doctor diagnosed it as contact dermatitis from this site. So as a natural cure for it l tried apple cider vinegar on the lump and it disappeared but same growth now appeared on outside labia with itching. i apply apple cider vinegar and trying but itch and slight protrusion has not gone fully. Is there any remedy.

Your thyroid and labial problem are two different and unrelated issues. Keep in touch with your dermatologist for the labial lesion.

Your Crohn's disease will be there with you. If you are symptomatic for Gallstones, which is difficult to say due to your underlying Chrons disease, it is advisable to undergo surgery for Gall stones. As you r loosing weight it is advisable to undergo complete GI examination including UGI scopy, Colonoscopy and CECT abdomen to rule out malignancy.

What should a person avoid eating if he has thyroid. Is thyroid treatable? please reply.

M. sc Psychology, BHMS
Homeopath, Hyderabad
Thyroid is treatable, but we should know the present levels to understand how much intensive its rt now. In hypothyroid patients, better to avoid taking much quantity of cabbage, cauliflower, soya contents, peanuts, bracccoli etc. But in smaller quantity you can take, you need to consume more iodine contained diet. Where in that bhendi contain good amount of iodine.

Dear sir/madam. Please tell me the symptoms of gall bladder stone. I have doubt of it. My stomach pain occurs frequently.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Delhi
Specific symptoms may vary based on what type of gallbladder condition you have, although many symptoms are common among the different types of gallbladder problems. But most gallbladder symptoms start with pain in the upper abdominal area, either in the upper right or middle. Below are common symptoms of gallbladder conditions: - severe abdominal pain - pain that may extend beneath the right shoulder blade or to the back - pain that worsens after eating a meal, particularly fatty or greasy foods - pain that feels dull, sharp, or crampy - pain that increases when you breathe in deeply. The safest and way that should be used to remove gall stones is removing it naturally, not just remove gall stones from gall bladder but also remove the cause of gall stones.
