I am a diabetic n taking medicine for this but how do I know that it is type one or type 2 diabetes. ?
Hi Mahendra, The basic difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes is that in type 1 diabetes there is no insulin production be the beta cells of the pancreas and it is necessary to take insulin externally to utilize glucose, that is why it is also called Insulin dependent diabetes. While in type 2 diabetes there is defect in insulin functioning or/and insulin secretion, depending upon various conditions type 2 diabetes can be managed well with following proper diet, exercise and medication. Though in some cases patient with type 2 diabetes may also require insulin. Type 2 diabetes is majorly caused by poor lifestyle, excess body and is also hereditary while type 1 diabetes occur due to destruction of beta cells which is a auto immune defect. As per your description it seems that yours is type 2 diabetes.

Hi, to control sugars neither it is required to eat very less nor it is advisable. You should have your meals properly. The thing which is required is to practice healthy eating habits. Though diabetes can not be cured still sugar levels can be managed well if you follow proper diet, do regular physical activity and take medications if prescribed by your doctor. Apart from these monitoring your sugars regularly is also very important as it give you a fair idea of your present situation. Limit refined carbohydrates like white bread, pasta, and rice, as well as soda, candy, packaged meals, and snack foods. Focus on high-fiber complex carbohydrates €”also known as slow-release carbs. Like whole cereals, whole pulses etc. Before taking your major meals always take a good quantity of fresh vegetable salads, it will help you to control sugars as well as will give you feeling of fullness too. For in between snacking take fruits, sprouts, roasted chana etc.

Hi Seerath, Ghee poses no danger to cardiac health as long as the total fat intake remains restricted to the prescribed limit. Moreover, ghee improves blood HDL level, which is good for heart.

Happiness: Through Internal Control

The most powerful way to take internal control is to have a healthier lifestyle. Start by taking care of yourself; be a little more active each day, eat one extra piece of fruit, be aware of which physical activities make you feel better and make them part of your routine.

Hi lybrate-user, you need not to feel bad about it as most of weight gain is life style related usually. So if you feel that you need to reduce it then definitely you can do it, with positive self spirit. All you need to follow a balanced and stay motivated for it. Start with small changes at a time, try to find problems that hinder to follow it. First start with taking small meals at regular intervals rather going for larger portion sizes.

Appreciate your effort for taking a step forward for a healthy life. It's good that you have started physical activity. But exercise alone can't give you desired results. You can do better if you follow proper meal regime too. Good luck!
