Knee Joint - 7 Most Common Problems!

The knee is one of the biggest and most complex joints in the body. The knee is joined by the thigh bone (femur) to the shinbone (tibia). The little bones that keep running nearby the tibia (fibula) and the kneecap (patella) are alternate bones that make the knee joint. Ligaments associated with the knee-related leg muscles move the knee joint. Tendons join the knee bones and provide help to the knee:

  • The foremost tendon keeps the femur from sliding in reverse on the tibia (or the tibia sliding forward on the femur).
  • The back tendon keeps the femur from sliding forward on the tibia (or the tibia from sliding in reverse on the femur).
  • The average and horizontal tendons keep the femur from sliding side to side.

Some of the most common knee joint conditions are as follows:

  1. Chondromalacia patella: Irritation of the ligament underneath the kneecap (patella), bringing about knee pain. This is a typical reason for knee pain in youngsters.
  2. Knee osteoarthritisOsteoarthritis is the most widely recognized type of joint inflammation and regularly influences the knees. It is caused by maturing and wear and tear of the ligament. Its indications may include knee pain, swelling and stiffness.
  3. Meniscal tear: Damage to a meniscus, the ligament that supports the knee, regularly happens when the knee is twisted.
  4. ACL strain or tear: The ACL is in charge of a substantial part of the knee's flexibility. An ACL tear regularly leads to the knee popping out and may require surgical repair.
  5. PCL strain or tear: PCL tears can bring about pain, swelling, and knee unsteadiness. These wounds are less normal than ACL tears, and exercise based recovery is generally the best alternative.
  6. Patellar subluxation: The kneecap slides or separates along the thigh bone during movement, causing pain around the knee cap.
  7. Patellar tendonitisInflammation of the ligament related the kneecap (patella) to the shinbone. This happens mostly in competitors from rehashed bouncing.

Some of the most common and effective knee treatments are as follows:

  1. RICE treatment: Rest, ice, compression and elevation stand for RICE. The RICE treatment is a great solution for some knee conditions.
  2. Pain medications: Over-the-counter medicines or pain relievers, for example, acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Motrin), and naproxen (Aleve) can treat most knee joint pains.
  3. Non-intrusive treatment: An exercise routine can strengthen the muscles surrounding the knee, expanding the knee's strength.
  4. Cortisone infusion: Injecting steroid into the knee that can diminish pain and swelling.
  5. Hyaluronan infusion: Injection of a “gooey” material into the knee that may diminish pain from the joint and delay the requirement for a knee surgery.
  6. Knee surgery: Surgery might be done to amend a number of knee conditions. Surgery can supplant or repair a torn tendon, expel a harmed meniscus, or replace a seriously harmed knee.
  7. Arthroscopic surgery: An endoscope is embedded into the knee joint. Arthroscopic surgery has a shorter recovery and restoration period than open surgery.

I have been exercising since 2 weeks now. Each time I do the walk plus run. The bone between the feet n knee pains. From the front side only. Where I can touch n feel it.

You may be trying too much or too hard. You should focus on muscle strengthening exercise and increase your intensity gradually. Take care of your diet. Remember don't try too much, too hard, too early.

You can take, but your intake should be on moderation, banana is having high potassium, so you are supposed to monitor potassium level especially with kidney disease with diabetes. Take care.

Calcium is absorbed only when Vitamin D3 is available. Coffee is caffein and has nothing to do with calcium or Vit D. But caffeine should be avoided in children. Let children have sun exposure daily for at least 30 mins for making sufficient Vit D3 in the body.

Hi. Sprinters are known to have shin pain. Please get your tibia xray done as we don't want to miss any stress fracture of Anterior tibia which may happen in late stages. You may have to give rest to your leg for a while to get complete relief.

I think you should go for appropriate diet. Increase protein content in your diet along with carbohydrates. You should at least take 2 glass milk with 2 bananas per glass, chicken, meat, fish, eggs should be added in the diet. Non veg diet should be taken once a week. Concentrate on natural proteins instead of any company make to avoid any future health problems.

Cow milk or buffalo milk depends on your lifestyle. For general people who do not have very high physical activity, cow milk is best as it is lighter with less fat. But you should prefer milk of a desi Indian cow, not mixed breed and that also from a single cow, not mixed milk of many cows.

Eat foods that are rich in calories like pulses, cereals, meat, bread, rice, dry fruits, and nuts. U can also follow by adding vegetables like French beans, broccoli, Chinese cabbage, carrots, lettuce, spinach, asparagus, pumpkins, and eggplants to your diet. Add a healthy portion of red meat to your diet too if you are non vegetarian. But keep in mind not to overdo it. The aim is to add weight, not cholesterol! You can even add olive oil in generous quantities to your salads. Another way to add calories to your diet is by increasing the consumption of dairy products. Don€’t cut back on the fat content in your milk. Do not ask for low-fat curd, paneer, cheese, at the store. Make sure you consume a full calorie dairy product. DIET CHART TO GAIN WEIGHT - Breakfast: • One, big glass of orange juice or banana shake • A bowl of oatmeal to which dried nuts like almonds, walnuts and raisins are added—using skimmed or low-fat milk and some sugar • 2-3 whole eggs, scrambled or boiled if non- vegetarian • 2-3 slices of multi-grain bread coated with a bit of butter Pre-Lunch/Mid-day Snack: A bowl of yogurt made from low-fat milk Or A few granola bars that are fortified with raisins and sesame seeds Or Whole fruits like apples or chiku or mango Lunch: • At least one form of animal meat like chicken or meat, i.e. One to two servings.(if non- vegetarian) • 4-5 rotis made from whole wheat or multi-grain flour, smeared slightly with ghee. • A big bowl of dal • A cup full of boiled rice • If eating meats is a problem, supplement it with cottage cheese made from tofu or low-fat milk Early Evening Snack: The better choice is a glass of low-fat milk to which an energy-inducing mix has been added. You can choose from a variety of malted mixtures. Try to add more of the malted mix rather than using synthetic sugar. You can use a few high-fiber biscuits or cookies to dip and munch upon. Dinner Options for Gaining Weight Dinner needs some planning since you need to end your day on a calorie high. You should combine at least one type of green vegetable along with a dal or a serving of chicken or fish with some gravy. It is better to have more of rice for dinner rather than rotis from the perspective of gaining weight. Ensure you ask the person cooking meals to use lentils with higher calorie content. This includes black grams and kidney beans. Options for Post-Dinner Snack • A few bites of dark chocolate with high cocoa content • A smoothie of fruits and yogurt • Fruits like strawberries, apples, mangoes or grapes I hope the above diet chart will help you. FOR WEIGHT GAIN - 1.Consumes additional calories: start consuming an additional calories. Even you have to consume more calories, don't go for junk food or any other bad item, stick to nutrient food. What I mean is that you can consume extra calories by eating food which have high content of calories as well as nutrients. This will help you in preventing from health problems. 2.Eat more Drink more: you should start eat a total of six times a day, taking a small meal at a time. If you can not each much, you could add snacks in between your two meals. 3.Include carbohydrate: Carbohydrate is very essential to increase our weight. Accordingly, various starchy food like rice, wheat, oat, rye etc. Fresh starchy vegetables such as potato, carrot etc. And fresh starchy fruits like banana, apple, pears etc. Should be included in your diet. You need fat. So include chocolate, ice cream etc. But note it should be consumed limited. 4. Take sufficient rest and sleep at least for six hours daily. Not only sufficient eating is enough for gaining weight (muscles), you have to digest it properly too FOR GOOD EYESIGHT - 1. Eat carrots, they are filled with vitamin A, which helps your eyes. Hello, Please include all forms of protein rich food such as milk, curd, paneer, channa, lobia, rajmah, eggs, fish, chicken etc. Do not have the same food everyday. Bring in variety. Also, eat something healthy every 2-3 hours so that you are creating a slight excess in calories. Please do not opt for any gainers. Please work on it in a natural way. All the best!
