Hypnosis comes from a Greek origin hypnos which means ‘Sleep”. Hypnotherapy is a treatment with exercises for relaxing and to bring the patient in a state of mind which is often known as trance. It is a state of mind being in the middle of deep sleep and being alert. In this condition the person experiences his innermost painful thoughts, feelings and memories that are at the back of his conscious mind. The therapists treat the disorders during the hypnotic condition of the patient. This condition helps the hypnotherapist to control the patients mind and thoughts for the treatment. Hypnotherapy treatment helps to treat addictions eg smoking, alcohol consumption, kleptomania, etc. The various conditions that respond to hypnotherapy include stress, bedwetting, headaches, alopecia, asthma, phobias, anxiety, cancer related pain, weight loss, insomnia, etc. each session lasts for about an hour and it may take 4 to 10 sessions to see the visible results. The medical history and physical condition of the patient is important to be diagnosed before the therapy. During hypnotherapy the blood pressure and heart rate are decreased which helps in dealing with the problem as in the conscious state the mind is more focused and may not be able to respond to treatment. Hypnosis treatment may not be beneficial for people with hallucinations and delusions. Hypnotherapy weight loss is advised for people that are obese and need to lose weight for fitness reasons.
