Former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Passed Away - End Of An Era!

MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
General Physician, Faridabad
Former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Passed Away - End Of An Era!

“Kya haar me, kya jeet me, Kinchit nahi bhaybheet mai,

Kartavya path par jo bhi mila, Yah bhi sahi, wo bhi sahi,

Vardaan nahi maangunga, Ho kuch par haar nahi maangunga”  - Atal Bihari Vajpayee

His leadership, foresight, maturity and eloquence put him in a league of his own. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Gentle Giant, passed away on 16th August. He was suffering from urinary tract infection. His previous medical records include stroke, dementia, and diabetes. He sometimes fails to recognize people and is often confined to a wheelchair. Let's know about the disease-

What Causes Urinary Tract Infection?
Kidney Tract Infection is a form of UTI (Urine Tract Infection) that generally begins in Urethra or Bladder and spreads to one or both of the Kidneys. This Kidney infection is caused by bacteria which enters the Urethra and multiplies in the Bladder, then infection spreads to Kidneys.

Here are the reasons that help the bacteria enter the Urethra:

Symptoms of Urinary Tract Infection
The symptoms depend on the part of the Urinary Tract infected. In lower UTI, the following symptoms are noticed:

The Upper UTI is a severe one, and shows the given symptoms:

  1. Fever with Chills
  2. Vomiting
  3. Nausea
  4. Upper back and sides in pain

Treatments for Urinary Tract Infection-
The treatment may differ from person to person depending upon the seriousness and position of the infection. The infection of Upper Urinary Tract can be life-threatening as it affects Kidneys, a type of Urinary Tract Infection, our former Prime Minister is suffering from. Lower UTI is not as dangerous as the upper one, but is a serious issue.

A treatment can only be commenced based on the test results which shows where the infection is, and what type of bacteria has attacked the Urinary Tract. For most of the cases, the infection is treated with Antibiotics and other medication.

The 93-year-old former Prime Minister had only one functional kidney and had suffered a stroke back in 2009 which weakened his cognitive abilities. He was admitted to the AIIMS but on June 11, 2018, with a kidney tract infection, chest congestion and the urine output on the lower side.

Some Interesting Facts About The Man Himself -

  1. He was the first person to give a speech in Hindi at the UN General Assembly in 1977. He served as India’s Minister of External Affairs at that time.
  2. The former Prime Minister was known to have been a good cook. While serving time in prison during Emergency, in Chandigarh, he reportedly became the “head cook”.
  3. In 2015, Vajpayee received Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honor from former President Pranab Mukherjee.
  4. He is the only Parliamentarian to be elected from 4 different Indian States- Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh.
  5. His birthday, 25 December, was declared “Good Governance Day” as recognition of his services to the nation.
  6. Matter of ‘13’ :
    • In 1996, he was PM for 13 days
    • In 1998– 99, he was PM for 13 months
    • On 13 oct 1999 he took oath as PM of India for the third time

RIP Atalji - You will always be missed by every Indian!

Dear Lybrateuser, - Your problem is due to hemorrhoids (piles) - avoid constipation & straining at stools - have more of fibre containing foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains instead of refined ones, beans, lentils, pulses, peas, sprouts, nuts, dried fruits in diet - avoid fried, spicy & junk foods - have plenty of oral fluids including 8-10 glasses of water for proper hydration & digestion - mix a tablespoon of isabgol powder in a glass of warm water & have it half an hour before bedtime at night - apply Smuth gel before & after defecation - if not much improvement then consult a local doctor.

Kidney Problems - Best Ayurvedic Remedies For Them!

Two kidneys are present on either side of the spine, above the waist. The kidneys perform important functions of cleansing the blood, controlling blood pressure and maintaining salt and mineral balances. Kidney related issues are to be treated as soon as they occur as failing to do so might lead to kidney failure, which is a serious condition.

Ayurvedic approach for treating kidney related problems
Each type of medical treatment has their distinctive approaches towards such treatment and so does Ayurvedic care. The weak body is toned up in a natural way in the first stage. The second stage is the prevention of diseases using natural remedies and the final stage is treatment through ayurvedic care.

Causes for kidney related issues and Ayurvedic care for such issues
The causes for kidney related issues are toxins, anatomical abnormalities, abiotic stress, mental imbalance, the easy entrance of microvita, and side effects of various allopathic medicines. One major reason for kidney related problems is the side effects of modern medicines or over dosage of allopathic medication. On the contrary, the medication system of Ayurveda effectively treats all the issues in a natural way without imposing ill-effects to the human body.

When to seek Ayurvedic care?
A few symptoms, the occurrence of which indicates that you should consult a doctor for checking of kidney related issues are nausea, weakness, ankle swelling, vomiting and shortness of breath. A few other symptoms are high blood pressure or urea and decreased hemoglobin. If these symptoms are due to kidney related problems, Ayurveda cure for kidney related issues is one of the best options for recovery.

Prevention of kidney failure- Ayurveda treatment to avoid dialysis
"Prevention is better than cure." If kidney problems arise, it is best to take preventive measures to avoid kidney failure. A few things that help in preventing kidney failure are controlling blood pressure, controlling blood sugar and improving breathing pattern. Diet plays a major role in preventing kidney failure. Ayurveda approach insists the change of acidic diet to an alkaline one. Diabetes and blood sugar can also lead to kidney failure. According to Ayurveda, natural remedies are available to treat chronic kidney failure patients. Dialysis can be avoided and the kidney functions can be restored with the help of a few herbal remedies in the Ayurveda approach. The level of creatinine and urea are controlled effectively by Ayurveda treatment

Recovery using Ayurveda care for kidney failure patients
Kidney damage for a period of 3 months or more is known as chronic kidney failure. The treatment of underlying cause, treatment of damaged kidneys and treatment of dhatus (body tissues) which makes up the kidneys are done in the case of Ayurvedic care. The kidneys are made up of "Rakta" and "Meda" and treating these two will lead to recovery. The benefits of using Ayurvedic medications for kidney related issues are plenty. The kidney damage is recovered, the risk of death can be reduced to a significant extent and frequency of dialysis can be minimized effectively.

No need of such elaborate list of medicines. These are small stones keep drinking plenty of fluid daily around 4-5 litres. They should come out on their own. You can repeat USG abdomen every six months just to keep a.check on the stone size.
