What should I follow diet for my healthiest life and weight loss and which kind of medicines should I consume for weight loss?

Being a dietitian my views: there is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

Hi. I am 30 yrs old. I am now 75 kg weight. My height is 4' 9. Please give tips to reduce my weight.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
You need to plan your meals well. Eat smaller meals at frequent intervals. Avoid long gaps between meals and/or heavy meals. Have an early dinner by if possible. Avoid outside, junk foods. Exercise whenever you get the opportunity or at least 3 times a week. This will ensure at least initial weight loss. Lastly. Be commited. Any thing that you do and then leave is not the right thing. Diet is something you don' t go on or off. It' s what you take for life to nourish your body. So stick to a sensible eating plan and exercise routine that you can maintain. Not some diet that is low fat low carb protein rich etc. Get commited for life not for a month or a week.

I want to lose my wait what I have to do for lose my fat and be healthy and strong.

I want to lose my wait what I have to do for lose my fat and be healthy and strong.
Hi, Include high fibre foods like whole grains, legumes and pulses, vegetables, fruits and skimmed milk, lean meat, skin out chicken, fish, salads, beverages like green tea, lemon tea, buttermilk. Avoid refined carbohydrates, oily and fried foods, butter, ghee, red meat, junk food, carbonated beverages. Its better to have small and frequent meals and this type of diet keeps you fit. It generally includes a 6 meal pattern where you will have breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, evening snack, Dinner and bed time snack. The break fast will be normal type as you wish, go for a fruit around 11 as a mid morning snack, lunch again can be of your choice, evening snack can be a oats porridge or sprouts and dinner again is of your choice but for weight management its better to replace major amount of carbohydrate with protein. Bed time snack can be milk or butter milk. Mid morning and evening snacks are interchangeable and you should mind your portions of each meal with healthy options. Stay hydrated all the time and take stairs instead of lift, if your office is near your residence prefer walking or cycling. Use honey and lemon in the morning which boosts your immunity and metabolism. Give a gap of 2 hours between dinner and sleep and start walking at least 20-30 minutes a day initially and you can extend it up to 1 hour depending on your tolerance.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. To prevent weight increase and then to loose it, you have to control hypothyroidism effectively. TSH should be brought down to about 3 - 4 mU/L. Then only all the symptoms will be in check. Plus efforts to loos weight will also succeed. There is no special diet needed. First is bring TSH to desired level. Then exercise regularly and take a restricted diet. Avoid sweets, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, all foods made out of maida and sweetened aerated drinks. Use more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Always use whole grain flour for chapati and roti. If you have any doubts please come back. Thanks.

Hey, I want to loose weight. From last 2 months, I gained around 10 kg weight. What can I do?

MSc
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Hyderabad
Hey, I want to loose weight. From last 2 months, I gained around 10 kg weight.
What can I do?
Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. To improve the metabolism, try increasing the duration, frequency, intensity of your daily workout. Remember that maintaining the ideal weight is a lifetime commitment and not a short-term affair. Firmly believe that the pleasure of being trim and healthy is far better than the pleasure of eating unwisely.
