What is Scarring Alopecia?

Dermatologist
Dermatologist, Delhi
What is Scarring Alopecia?

Scarring Alopecia, otherwise called Cicatricial Alopecia, alludes to a gathering of hair loss issue that might be diagnosed in up to 3% of hair loss patients. It happens worldwide in generally healthy men and women of any age.

Every particular diagnosis inside this class is genuinely uncommon, yet a few cases incorporate analyzing Cellulitis, Eosinophilic Pustular Folliculitis, Follicular Degeneration Disorder (beforehand called "Hot Brush" Alopecia), folliculitis decalvans, lichen planopilaris, and pseudopelade of Brocq, to give some examples. Scarring Alopecia may likewise be a piece of a significantly bigger condition, for example, Chronic Lupus Erythematosus, where numerous organs of the body can be influenced.

While there are many types of Scarring Alopecia, the normal topic is a conceivably changeless and irreversible demolition of hair follicles and their Replacement with scar tissue.

Most types of Scarring Alopecia initially happens as little Patches of Hair Loss that may extend with time. Now and again the hair loss is steady, without recognizable indications, and may go unnoticed for quite a while. In different examples, the hair loss is related with Serious Itching, Burning, and Pain, and is quickly dynamic.

The Scarring Alopecia Patches normally appear to be somewhat unique from Alopecia Areata in that the edges of the Bald Patches look more "battered." The annihilation of the hair follicle happens beneath the skin surface so there may not be much too really observe on the scalp skin surface other than Patchy Hair Loss. Influenced areas might be smooth and clean, or may have redness, scaling, expanded or diminished pigmentation, or may have risen rankles with fluids or Pus originating from the influenced area.

These visual markers may help with diagnosis; however it is hard to diagnose a Scarring Alopecia just from the pattern of the hair loss and the nature of the scalp skin. Regularly while Scarring Alopecia is suspected, at least one Skin Biopsies are done to affirm the diagnosis and help recognize the specific type of Scarring Alopecia. A little biopsy of 2 to 4 mm in distance across is taken and analyzed under a microscope. A Pathologist or Dermatologist will search for annihilation of the hair follicles, scar tissue deep in the skin, and the presence and area of aggravation in relation to the hair follicles.

Regularly, the early phases of a Scarring Alopecia will have Inflammatory Cells around the hair follicles, which, numerous scientists believe, actuates the demolition of the hair follicles and advancement of scar tissue. In any case, there is some argument about this among Dermatologists, as in some cases a biopsy from a Scarring Alopecia person shows very low irritation.

Scarring Alopecia quite often burns out. The Bald Patches quit growing and any irritation, tingling, burning, or pain goes away. In this end phase; another skin biopsy generally demonstrates no inflammation around hair follicles. Bald areas more often than not have no more hair follicles. Here and there, however, hair follicles, in any event those at the fringe of a Bald Patch, are not totally annihilated and they can re-grow, but rather frequently all that is left are only a couple of Longitudinal Scars deep in the skin to indicate where the hair follicles used to be.

Treatment

Scarring Alopecia can include a great deal of harm and lasting Hair Loss. Hence treatment of Scarring Alopecia ought to be very forceful. The nature of treatment changes relying upon the specific Diagnosis. Scarring Alopecia’s that include for the most part Lymphocyte Inflammation of hair follicles, for example, Lichen Planopilaris and Pseudopelade, are by and large treated with Corticosteroids in topical creams and by Injections into the affected skin. Likewise, Antimalarial and Isotretinoin Medications might be utilized.

For Scarring Alopecia’s with aggravation of generally Neutrophils or a blend of cells, treatment includes Antibiotics and Isotretinoin. All the more tentatively, drugs like Methotrexate, Tacrolimus, Cyclosporin, and even Thalidomide have been utilized to treat a few structures.

Once a Scarring Alopecia has achieved the burn out stage and there has been no more Hair Loss for a couple of years, Bald areas can be either surgically expelled on the off chance that they are not very huge or the Bald Patches can be transplanted with hair follicles taken from unaffected areas.

Hi effective method to treat dandruff would be to combine 2 tablespoons of fresh apple juice with 2 tablespoons of warm water. Dab this on the hair and keep it for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. Do this for once or twice a week to cure dandruff. Apply ketoconazole lotion on your scalp once in a week.

Unless you have severe osteoarthritis then replacement at this age is not advisable for the following reasons - 1. The prosthesis does have a time limit and eventually it wears out (the longevity depends on the bearing surface used) and once it wears out then you will have pain and it would need revision surgery. The chances of a hip replacement done at an young age of 35 lasting for more than 7 - 10 years is very slim. Repeated revisions reduce the bone stock and also increases the complication rate. Do you have any xrays so that we can see for what problem you have been advised replacement. Unless we see the xrays we would not be able to comment appropriately.

Pl post 2-3 pictures of the affected areas both beard and scalp. Coconut oil application reduces the amount of moisture lost. Start using it every night. Stop using detergent based shampoos. Instead use a mild shampoo.

Regular hot oil treatments is one the best and easiest ways to keep your hair smooth and well hydrated. The heat and saturation from the warm oil will relax the light wavy and curly pattern of your hair. For hot oil treatment, the best options are coconut, olive, almond or sesame oil. Slightly heat the oil you wish to use in a microwave for about 20 seconds. Apply the warm oil to your hair and massage your scalp for 15 to 20 minutes. Comb your hair thoroughly to evenly distribute the oil. It will also avoid breakage while washing your hair. Cover your hair with a hot wet towel for 30 to 40 minutes. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Gently comb your hair (use a wide-toothed comb not a brush) while it is still wet and allow it to air dry. 2. Coconut Milk Coconut milk is believed to help straighten hair. It has a moisturizing ability and also gives your hair a beautiful shine and luster. In addition, it has all the benefits of being antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral to keep your scalp infection free. In a glass jar, mix one cup of fresh coconut milk and the juice of one lemon. Place the glass jar in the refrigerator for a few hours, until there is a creamy layer on the top. Massage your hair and scalp with this cream, and then leave it on for 20 minutes. Cover your head with a shower cap or swimming cap and wrap a warm moist towel around the cap. Leave it on for about 30 minutes, and then shampoo and condition your hair. Comb your hair when it is still wet and allow it to air dry.

Hi. Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent which is called 'Hairloss' rather and leads to bald areas of smooth and shiny surface. In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up which subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or hairloss- hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormaonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger any other underlying diseases, etc. Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200/ twice a day and Lycopodium 200/ one dose once a week - both for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, take Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. (N.B.: With the help of homoeopathic medicines, we can only prevent further progress of the hairloss, means it will get arrests in the present condition in case of progressive baldness. But, in case there are areas of baldness which has gone smooth and shiny, you will have to choose an option of Hair Transplant along with theses medications!).

Lustrous, beautiful and healthy hair is a result of a healthy body and a healthy diet Foods high in protein are soy, tofu, dairy products like milk, curd, paneer, cheese, nuts, oilseeds, beans and pulses. Lifestyle changes 1. Along with a healthy hair diet it is important that you exercise properly as it will ensure that there is proper blood flow to your scalp and will help in the growth of hair.  2. Treat your hair delicately. Avoid unnecessary brushing, combing or handling. Use a soft, round bristles brush.  3. Have a weekly scalp massage to provide stimulation to the hair follicles. 4. Have regular trims to eliminate split ends and allow the hair to look and feel healthier. 5. Get plenty of rest and sleep to allow your body to grow hair. Follow the diet plan given below as a starting point for healthy and lustrous hair. Breakfast  Skim milk / soy milk Whole grain bread or toast or poha or breakfast cereal or sprout Bowl of fresh fruit Morning snack Fresh vegetable juice like carrot or cucumber juice Handful of nuts like walnuts, soaked almonds, raisins, dates Lunch Fresh veg. Soup or salad  Whole-wheat flour or jowar or bajra chapatti Green veggies  Dals or whole pulses Brown rice Curd / tofu Afternoon snack 1 glass skim milk  Kurmura or roasted channa or popcorn Evening snack Fresh veggies and fruit juice (carrot, apple, lemon, dudhi, palak) Dinner  Fresh veggie soup or salad with sprouts Chapati Vegetable Buttermilk Bedtime snack  Fruit like watermelon or banana  Use natural substitutes like fruits, dates, figs or honey instead of sugar. Ligaments are tough bands of tissue that connect the bones in your body. Two important ligaments in the knee, the acl and posterior cruciate ligament (pcl), connect the femur or thigh bone with the tibia, one of the bones of the lower leg. Too much stress on these ligaments can cause them to stretch too far -- or even snap. Homoeopathy has best medicines to deal with it, reducing the healing time and pain too, give your symptoms in detail to prescribe medicine for you.

I am getting thin hair both in front and back. What should I do as remedy other than medicines causing side effects.
Baldness is not an overnight affair. It is a long term process which has to be arrested as soon as you start noticing it. While among the 40 plus men baldness is very common, women often think that the chances for them getting bald are very less. But that?s not true; women too can face the same problem which starts from thinning of the hair There are many reasons why you may go bald. But don?t lose hope. It is never too late. They are many good solutions available to induce hair growth in baldness. But before opting for any one randomly, you must know the reason that caused baldness and take measures accordingly. Causes of baldness 1. Heredity: If your fathers, uncles have clean heads to show off in their mid 40?s, you must set an alarm for yourself when you are in your 20s. Take proper care of your mane, as prescribed by an expert. Apart from that maintain a healthy, stress-free life style. Inculcate the habit of keeping yourself hydrated always. 2. Sickness: Excessive hair loss might start as you are recovering from diseases like Typhoid or Jaundice. If you do not pay attention to your hair getting thin at that moment, it wouldn?t take much time to result in an empty patch on your head. 3. Lack of maintenance: If you expose your hair to various chemicals without judging the components of the products, it may cause serious harm to your hair. Bald Hair Growth Solutions Since every product available on the counter promises to get you beautiful and lustrous hair, you have to be extra cautious when you pick up a product. Going by your preferences, you must choose the following 1. Medicinal help: Good medicines can always help to a certain extent for hair growth. Consult a doctor before you resort to this. While, this may bring result sooner, on the flipside, it might have some side effects too. 2. Treatment for baldness: Hair treatments will spur the follicles of your head to produce new hair. This involves a considerable cost. However, many apprehend that the newly grown hair will start falling again once you stop the treatment. 3. Natural remedies: Natural remedies are considered to be the best ones and are the most recommended ones to follow as the hair growth naturally will not shed off easily once you master the methods of taking proper care with patience. Below mentioned are few natural hair growth tips: 1. Massage olive oil and castor oil on your scalp. Both are known to induce dormant follicles. 2. Rub onion on the scalp. It is also known to be very effective in regenerating new hair. 1.3. Increase the intake of protein enriched food.
