Hi My Father is suffering from Ankylosing spondylitis.
What are the remedies for it.
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an auto immune disease where in the immune system is hyper active. The treatment is via Immunosuppressive medicines. May also require steroid therapy if clinical symptoms are severe. AS has tendency to cause severe hip and knee arthritis in addition to spine deformities. Hence early treatment is necessary to avoid deformities.

Hi, I am 45 year man. Gaining weight since last year and tummy is increasing. My job takes long sitting hours around 8 to 10 hours daily. Started having backache too and shoulders/arm are getting stiff. Pls help.

You are suffering from increased lordosis in lower back which causes pressure on lumbar spine There may be problem of posture which u mentioned stiffness as a symptom n u also have a sedentary life style Take a physiotherapy assessment and guidance.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretching. Do the cat/cow stretch.

She should start taking vitamin d supplements along with calcium. Uprise d (60, 000) iu. Once a week for for 12 weeks. Tab calcium sandoz 500 mg once a day for 1 month sunlight exposure for 15-20 minutes, (8-10am! sunlight only consult privately for any further help.

Do apply hot and cold water fomentation for thrice a day for 7 days regularly do take sodium and chloride in diet in balanced quantity best wishes.

Hello, you may be having headache because of stress/ refractory problems/ any ENT problem or may be Migraine Headache kindly follow advises given below: you can take(If No drug allergy) : 1. Tablet Crocin (Paracetamol 500 mg) one tablet after food when required for headache after food for 2-3 days (maximum 2 tablets with gap of 12 hour can be taken in a day) 2. Adequate sleep 6-8 hr in a day 3. Get check eyes for refractive error 4. We need to go for ENT evaluation to rule out sinusitis 5. Get BP checked 6. Regular physical exercise and meditation and yoga complete history of your headache for further management like duration, severity, aggravating factors/relieving/ triggering/ associated factor to reach diagnosis consult physician for further management.

* walking regularly at slow pace without unduly straining helps as it improves blood circulation around knee and eases the joint. *you can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good. Coconut oil will be soothing in summer. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take bryonia 200---twice daily morning and evening and give feedback after 7 days

Most leg pain results from wear and tear, overuse, or injuries in joints or bones or in muscles, ligaments, tendons or other soft tissues. Leg pain can also be caused by blood clots, varicose veins or poor circulation. To relieve mild pain: stay off your leg as much as possible apply an ice pack or bag of frozen peas to the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes three times a day elevate your leg whenever you sit or lie down please go to a physiotherapist if: you have pain during or after walking you have swelling in both legs your pain gets worse your symptoms don't improve after a few days of home treatment you have painful varicose veins leg pain happens when your muscles are tired or dehydrated. Drink more water if you're prone to leg cramps. Also low blood levels of either calcium or magnesium directly cause cramps. Pleas check you calcium and magnesium levels.

Hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Self massage the back of neck.

Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

Do following home remedies: 1) mix camphor in coconut oil and boil it. Massage it followed by hot fomentation. 2) have turmeric & honey milk. 3) put a hot-water bag on back supported by a cushion. 4) add ginger while brewing your tea 5) if you are overweight, go for weight loss program 6) stay away from cold, go for hot water baths.

Doctor, last 3 years or so I am not at all sleeping well. 2 years back when I was in my +2 I couldn't sleep well throughout the year because of various issues, so as a result I got a feel like my body is habituated for that way. Even now I feel that uneasiness that we get when we don't sleep properly. So what should I do now, I can't get a sleep during daytime. My body got habituated to sleep late nights like around 2 am and getting up around 6 or 7, and even if I try to sleep more than that, I'm not getting sleep which in turn causing headache through out the day. So what do you suggest me.

Dear , Maintain some disciplines first: 1) Take plenty of water (more than 3 ltrs a day) 2) Take 1 or 2 fruits a day 3) Do aerobic exercise in the morning (30 mins of outdoor walking) 4) Avoid coffee, cigarette and other addictives 5) Sleep a a specific place at a specific time everyday. 6) Take your dinner well before going to bed.(At least 1 hr) 7) Don't engage yourself into vigorous activities at the evening. 8) Avoid watching TV at the evening and before going to bed. If you can adhere to these and still your problem doesn't solve, you can consult with me personally.

Hi doctor. I m 32years old. Right now my body weight is 103. And could walk properly bcoz of pain in back of angle in both legs. How can I reduce my leg angle pain. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are many causes of swelling in the legs. Most common reason is postural and many patients develop it when they stand for a long time, but as soon as they elevate their leg up, the swelling subsides. It can happen after any injury which is a priority to diagnose and treat accordingly. Also there could be infection or inflammation which can lead to swelling. Sometimes heavy physical activity may also lead to swelling in your calf muscles. But we have to look at medical causes as well, chronic cardiac conditions can lead to swelling, any pathology which leads to low proteins in the body like deranged lft, kft etc can also lead to swelling. Hypothyroidism can also lead to generalized swelling like appearance in the body. So for accurate diagnosis we need to clinically evaluate and get appropriate tests: cbc, esr, crp, lft, kft, serum electrolytes and thyroid profile. I am suffering from waist pain since six month long what step I can take for relieve?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If by waist pain you mean pain in lower back region, then I can help you. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. My friend bitten me near shoulder. And it is swelled and paining. Is it anything serious. I consulted a doctor near by he told nothing serious and he gave some medicines named rantac and some other tablets. I asked him for TT injection but he said no need of that. Wound caused by Human bite is as bad as wound caused by any trauma. You should take inj. TT along with antibiotics. The wound should be properly dressed.
