I had a blood test done recently and the report says high creatinine (1.23).The blood sample was given in empty stomach and I had my morning walk before that. Also, I have been taking some Ayurvedic medicines recently. Can these factors influence the blood test to show high creatinine? Please advise.

I will assume that the measurements that you provide are length as measured by ultrasound testing. The size of the kidney depends on body size. A normal adult male kidney will be at least 11 centimeters long. A normal adult female kidney will be at least 10 centimeters long. Normal kidneys size in adults. The size of the kidneys is measured mainly sonographically, although both CT and MRI scans also can be used to estimate kidneys size. The average length pole to pole (LPP) of an adult human kidney is 10-13 cm (4 to 5 inches). In general, left kidney is slightly longer than the right.

I have 12 mm left kidney stone, Dr. tell me laser operation. Please advise some natural way get it off the body.

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Nephrologist, Noida
I have 12 mm left kidney stone, Dr. tell me laser operation. Please advise some natural way get it off the body.
Mr. lybrate-user 12 mm stone is big in size, if it descend down can block the urine pipe called ureter causing pain and lot of bleeding. Once kidney gets block and urine can't pass then it back flows in kidney in end destroying kidney cell. So it's recommended to get laser treatment done were they will break the stone in small sediment or pieces which can pass easily or urine pipe.

Tips for removing kidney stones:: 1. Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, cold drinks, pickles, fish, poultry, meat, spinach, and chocolate. 2. Avoid sour, heavy, and dry food. 3. Increase intake of liquids like water, juice, soup, lime water lemon soda etc. 4. Be sure to drink enough water each day. Usually 1 to 2 liters of water per day is adequate. 5. Drink more if you are perspiring heavily, working outdoors, the weather is hot, etc. 6. Increase the use of barley, horse gram (a type of bean), ginger, and brown rice or parboiled rice. 7. Avoid suppressing urges to urinate and defecate. 9. Boil 10-12 basil leaves in 1 cup of water for 15 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey in it and take twice a day.
