I am 23 year old girl. I sprained my right ankle while walking (wearing heels) . It has been 8 months the pain comes and goes. Now even my left ankle has started paining. X ray was absolutely ok. I have gone to 4 doctors no one is able to diagnose or treat.

You need to strengthen the muscles around your ankle for which you can start with ankle movements with a weight cuff and proprioception and balance exercise.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Your problem could be due to inflammation of the tail bone - use a cushion or a pillow while sitting, avoid sitting on a hard surface as it will aggravate the problem - apply a pain relief gel three times a day - take a pain relief tablet three times a day after meals - consult a physiotherapist for spinal exercises which will help in reducing the pain - consult a orthopedician as you will require investigations like an x- ray & MRI & also injectible medication if pain is not controlled by oral medication.

I am 70 years old and for the last thre months suffering with knee pain. The x ray and mri scan shoed no alarming facts. The pain is low some times but pains a lot when I try to climb steps.

Dear lybrateuser, -Some pain may occur after a bypass surgery, if you are doing some exercise involving the shoulder & left arm then take a break for sometime for it or see the position when you are sleeping if weight is there on it or it is in a strained position then also it can pain -take a mild analgesic & apply a analgesic gel 3-4 times in a day -if not much relief then get x-ray shoulder done & consult doctor.
