How to have a proper and safe sex so as to avoid pregnancy and diseases provided not to use condoms?
To avoid pregnancy there are alternatives like pills and intra uterine devices. But for preventing diseases sexually transmitted using condoms is the only way apart from having a stable single partnership.

What is the cost of hymenoplasty? And what does it mean? For how many days rest is required after it?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
What is the cost of hymenoplasty? And what does it mean? For how many days rest is required after it?
The normal aim of hymenoplasty is to cause bleeding during post-nuptial intercourse, which in some cultures is considered proof of virginity. The surgery last for around 30-45 minutes using a surgical technique, the torn edges of the hymen are put back together. If done correctly, to the visible eye, there is no scarring and the hymen appears intact. After this type of hymen surgery, subsequent intercourse will typically tear the membrane causing pain and bleeding. The dissolvable stitches are used to reconnect the skin membrane that once partially covered the opening to the vagina. There are no risks of hymen reconstruction (hymenoplasty), and is always without any complications. The recovery time is less than a day. After the hymenoplasty operation, the patient can return to work next day and complete healing takes approximately 6-8 weeks. Hospital stay is only 5-6 hrs. Cost of the surgery for sharing class 35k and for special room 50k, which includes all costs.

Hello. I get severe pain during my periods. I have a problem of white water discharge also. My sonography report says...
The basic principle is that aartav shuddhi should be done in such case. When ayurveda medicines are used, it clears endometrial problems of uterus as well as those related to ovaries. Once that is achieved, m. C. Blood starts flowing normally. Fluid in uterus also dries up and if nothing is malignant, the uterus becomes healthy. There are some wonderful medicines described in ayurveda for stri rogas.

Dear Doctor, Every month i get my periods in time frame of 25 to 30 days and this time and this month I have not got my periods and I am living single from past 9 years without any physical interaction so there is no chances of me to get pregnant ans so please let me know what would be reason for such and what steps to follow to get regular periods on time.

MBBS, MD
Gynaecologist,
As you said the possibility of pregnancy is not there at all, and all your previous periods occurring at regular intervals, the most common causes of your not getting menses at the regular time this month may be any one of the following - weight gain, strenuous exercise, no physical activity, change of place, stress or anxiety, hormonal imbalance due to thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. There are of course many other causes of missed periods. Delayed period once in a while is not a matter of concern. You may check on yourself if some of the above-mentioned causes may be operating or not, and then try to alleviate these. For knowing hormonal imbalance, of course, you will have to get some tests done like thyroid tests and ultrasound for which doctor's consultation will be necessary.

Want to combat the summer heat exhaustion?
Have a small teaspoon of "Gulkand" (a mixture of rose petals and sugar) after your meals or after being out in the hot sun for long. It works like a coolant for the body.
Don't forget to also have water at frequent intervals.

Dear lybrate-user, - according to your height your optimum weight should be 58-63 kg. So I guess you can easily attain those figures pretty soon. But please keep this in mind that depending only upon the medicines will not serve the purpose. Please maintain a healthy lifestyle also - which is very necessary but often neglected when we deal with patients fighthing for weight-loss. Good nutritious breakfast - optimum lunch - and kight dinner is always a good habit. Be extremely strict not to have any pizza, burger, ice-cream-pasrty or any berevages or junk after 5 pm in the evening. Drink lots of juices and have more fruits. Avoid fried and deep fried things. I am hopeful that within one month you will be in the range of desired levels. This will greatly help. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking. Please update with your valuable feedback after 15 days.

You need hormonal treatment. You have to take medroxyprogestaron acetate from 16th day of your cycle upto 25th day daily one tablet of 10 mg. Then wait for 3 to 4 days. Periods will come. Also start some iron tablets along with that. Next time from 5th day of cycle you start combination of oestrogen and progesterone for 21 days. Your periods will get regularised.
