Dear, In my opinion, smoking is easy to quit. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you?re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse?no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn?t easy. But it?s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Take care.

Take plenty of salads, fruits and sprouts. Avoid fatty and spicy foods. To avoid acidity avoid alcohol/nicotine/excess of tea/coffee. For improving brain power solve puzzles and reasoning. Repetition of lesson and recalling in mind and referring immediately to source/book in case of any doubt is a good way to enhance memory. Live a de-stressing life with early morning awakening, doing yoga/meditation, daily jog/exercise, listen soothing music at evening, some time for rest, recreation and socialization and adequate sleep. Taking tulsi is a good habit as it has certain medicinal properties, but it does not increase memory.

Hello, goodmorning sir, my opinions is my memory power is very less. So iam to remember some thing. Suggest please plz.

Stress can foil memory and concentration. The distraction it leads to will not allow focus on a particular topic or subject. So locate the stressor and deal with it soon to recover good memory. It will be easier to work with a counselor on the emotions that are causing the stress. Although concentration is different to memory, they can affect each other. In the meantime do some of the following: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, broccoli, blueberries, fish, coconut oil, wheat sprouts, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling.

At your age your peer group is extremely important. Besides he is your best friend. You should not feel insecure to this extent, if you were best friends, as in that this relationship was reciprocally important to him. He will contact you but the chances are that he will meet other guys and make friends with them too. If you are special, you will come to know by the way he keeps in touch with you. You can make an effort too. If you are going to sit on your high horse and wait it out to see if he will make the first move, then it is a set up for a gamey situation. This is not a test but a confirmation of your relationship?s strength. He may also be wondering about your commitment. These are just signs of your immaturity and true friendships last over time. Have the faith, but you do your part if you truly love him by contacting him because you miss him.

STRESS CONTROL There are many ways to tame your stress and keep it at bay. Here are 20 tips to tame your stress today, and keep the stress monsters at bay. 1. Perform diaphragmatic or deep breathing exercises. 2. Lie face down on the floor and begin breathing deeply and slowly, with your hands resting under your face. Do this for five minutes. 3. Sit in a reclining chair. Put a hand on your abdomen and a hand on your chest. As you breathe, make sure the hand on your abdomen is moving up and down rather than one on your chest. If the hand on your abdomen is moving you are breathing deeply and slowly. 4. Try progressive muscle relaxation or “deep muscle” relaxation. Progressively tense and relax each muscle group in your body. Learn the difference between muscle tension and relaxation. 5. Meditate. Use visualization or imagery to help you learn to be one with your thoughts. Sit quietly with your eyes closed, imagining the sights, sounds and smells of your favorite place, such as a beach or mountain retreat. 6. Exercise regularly or take up yoga. 7. Consult a psychologist about the use of biofeedback 8. Make time for music, art or other hobbies that help relax and distract you. 9. Learn to identify and monitor stressors. Come up with an organized plan for handling stressful situations. Be careful not to overgeneralize negative reactions to things. 10. Make a list of the important things you need to handle each day. Try to follow the list so you feel organized and on top of things. Put together a coping plan step by step so you have a sense of mastery. 11. Keep an eye on things that might suggest you’re not coping well. For example, are you smoking or drinking more, or sleeping less? 12. Keep a list of the large and little hassles in your day versus the major stressful events in your life. This helps you focus on the fact that you’re keeping track of and managing those as well as you can. 13. Set aside a time every day to work on relaxation. 14. Avoid using caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, junk food, binge eating and other drugs as your primary means for coping with stress. While they can be helpful once in awhile, using them as your only or usual method will result in longer-term problems, such as weight problems or alcoholism. 15. Learn to just say, “No” occasionally. It won’t hurt other people’s feelings as much as you think and is simply a method to be more assertive in your own life, to better help you meet your own needs. 16. Get the right amount of sleep. For most people, this is seven to nine hours a night. 17. Cultivate a sense of humor; laugh. 18. Research has shown that having a close, confiding relationship protects you from many stresses. 19. Don’t run from your problems! This only makes them worse. 20. Talk to your family and friends. See if they can help. If these tips don’t help, or you’ve tried a lot of them with little luck in better taming the stress in your life, it may be time to consider taking it up a notch. A mental health professional — such as a psychologist — can help teach you more effective methods for handling stress in a healthy way in your life. Such psychotherapy is short-term and time-limited, with a focus on helping you better deal with stress.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. I am afraid you can not do anything in this regard except talk to him, find out why he is irritated, love him and care him as he is a child. In face he has become a child mentally. This happens to all elderly people. Treat him in that perspective.

I don't understand why you can't consult a doctor. Sometimes this condition can be quite serious and a doctor's intervention is necessary. I think when you have suicidal ideation, a doctor's visit does become mandatory and is serious enough. Even if you don't want to meet with a doctor, at least visit with a counselor. Counselors are really good friends and you will enjoy the experience. At your age this claim is serious. If you have depression then there are some major ramifications to take into account. I believe there may be some genetic predisposition or there has been some childhood issue, related to anger, that needs urgent attention. You must go and meet with a counselor immediately and if that person advises that you meet with a doctor you must do so and cooperate to your utmost. Please visit these professionals along with your parents. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.
