You must immediately seek help from a counselor. Your fear is creating an obsession and that is leading to anxiety. The stress of this anxiety is causing the indigestion and therefore weakness. Before it gets out of control and difficult to deal with seek help earlier, especially about this fear. If the fear is of recent origin, you could perhaps identify it and deal with it. But if it is from a long past, then much work has to be done to sort that out. If medication is required please cooperate with both the therapies to get the best results. Sometimes this kind of nervousness could be genetic too. In the meantime you must do certain things to build your constitution physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. Mental stability can be achieved by learning a few skills in handling emotions in an appropriate manner. Stress management skills, which have a lot to do with expressing emotions, will need to be a major part of your recovery program. Emotionally you need the help of a counselor and that will help you tremendously to move from anxiety to normal fear. Please persevere and cooperate through all the support you need and you will come through successfully. Develop your body’s health by physical fitness through exercise, good rest (sleep), and a proper diet. Any way what you need to focus on is to do vigorous exercise of the aerobic kind for the heart’s fitness; meditation for the brain’s fitness; sleep for a well rested mind and body; a sound spiritual well being for good confidence and stability; and a diet with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Vigorous exercise, especially of the callisthenic kind, will make your heart, which is a muscle, grow larger; and then your heart will need to beat less often and you will respond to the anxiety with a calmer disposition. If your mind, constitution, and your emotions are in check and fit, you will never be disturbed again.

Hi doctor, I have been consuming excessive alcohol for the past few days. Please suggest or advice a home remedy to get the alcohol out of my life soon.

You can try the recommendations I propose but it depends a lot on your cooperation. It does not matter when you feel like drinking, as long as you need your drink. This could lead to increased tolerance levels so that over time you will need to drink more to get the same or greater effect. You need to identify why you need to drink, and go back into your childhood to find out other influences on your personality that makes you prone to addiction. Meet with an addiction counselor and work with them to sort out this drive. Your already display the classic tendency to first obsess about it and then compulsively feel driven to meet that need. The simplest thing to do is to do some other interesting activity during the evening times. Meet your oral need with some other non-intoxicating drink like soups, juices, and sodas with lime, etc. If you think that you will find it very difficult, then admit yourself to a hospital and go for de-addiction: which normally lasts for about two weeks. Then follow that up with addiction counseling from a professional for at least three years to completely get rid of the habit. If this is also not enough, then admit yourself into a de-addiction center and stay there for at least 6 months and after that attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving. Ultimately, it is your will power and the support that you receive from the medical fraternity and your close and dear ones. You must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i.e. another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide you on several measures and precautions you will need to take to stay with your resolve. Even after the rehabilitation you must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. Your family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. You cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to your drinking and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. Make a serious plan with the family and whoever else’s support you can get and act on it fast. As a combination these two therapies (counseling and rehabilitation) will aid in dealing with the addiction. It will however take a long time to completely come off of the enslavement.

Dear lybrate-user, you are dependent on alcohol. Alcohol is a ready made sugar/glucose, fully digested. It will difficult for you to control your blood sugar level if you continue drinking. Cholesterol is produced in the body by liver. Probably your liver is damaged causing cholesterol problems. High creatinine level shows your kidneys are under protest. They may give up if you don't get treated. It is better for you to give up alcohol completely. It can not be done by yourself at home. It will have withdrawal symptoms which needs treatment in a hospital for at least 10-14 days. During detoxification itself your sugar, cholesterol and kidneys can be repaired with appropriate drips and tablets. You are still young. I think your children may be still dependent on you. Probably your parents may not be able to support. So there is an urgent need for you give up alcohol in a hospital and get treated for other medical problems. All the best.

I am a 19 year old boy. I want to say that my heart beats so fast. Normally whan I feel my heart beats there is a great pace of beats and my heart seems to be sound. Also if sonething goes wrong or there is any tension at my home my heart begins to just like blow. E. You have essential fatty deficiency along with several other vitamins as a result your seretonin (neuro transmitter) and other feel good enzyme levels are low as a result your body is not capable of stress management. You need to exercise it regularly. The exciting thing is that you don?t have to be a millionaire to increase your brain capacity. All you need to do is invest a little time to regularly train your brain.Here are 10 simple ways you can increase your brain power and improve your intelligence! 1. Do something new When you experience something ?new? you actually ?stimulate? your brain! Don?t get stuck in a rut doing the same old things ? the only way to change the structure of your brain is to do something new. This creates new neural pathways, increasing your intelligence. You could take a new route to work, try a new recipe for dinner, or even a new form of exercise ? mix it up! 2. Exercise regularly It?s been proven that regular exercise helps to increase brain function and enhances neurogenesis. This means that every time you exercise you are creating new brain cells! Get off the couch and get moving! Your brain will thank you for it :) 3. Train your memory How often do you hear people say ?I wish I had a better memory!? Yet no-one does anything about this! If you discipline yourself to memorise phone numbers and other important numbers (passport, credit card, insurance, driving license) you will start to see a marked improvement in your memory. 4. Read a book Reading relieves tension & stress (brain-cell killers) because it?s a form of escapism. Research has also shown that using your imagination is a great way to train your brain because you force your mind to ?picture? what you are imagining. Reading is a great way to trigger your imagination! 8. Get enough sleep Sleep is like a mini detox for the brain. This is when your body regenerates cells and removes all the toxins that have built up during the day. Get to bed between the hours of 9pm and midnight to benefit from the most effective hours of sleep! 9. Ditch the GPS Gone are the days of map reading! Sat Nav may have made our lives easier, it has also made our brains lazier and less efficient at the same time! Go back to the old school and use a map to navigate every now and then (this exercises the part of your brain responsible for understanding spatial relationships). 10. Ban the calculator Remember back at school when we were taught to use our brains to do simple sums like times tables?! It?s incredible how we now rely on devices like smart-phones and laptops to calculate really simple equations. It seems like the end of the road for this relationship. True love finds no fault, but accepts all deficiencies as part and parcel of the other. You two need to seriously examine your commitment for each other to see, if the relationship is becoming stale. You may be vying with each other to see who can put the other down by more effective fault-finding ? not love at all. I wonder if you have gone all the way so that there is nothing more to explore in the relationship. You need to respect each other and find the good things that first got you both together, and shy away from all negativity. Perhaps you can both start writing all the positives that are there, and that you two had enjoyed in the past to see if that awakens the old passion. You need to stay focused on those features only, and do a variety of interesting things together to always have fond memories. Stop the criticisms, consciously. Pay attention to make yourself attractive to each other because of your love for each other. Do caring things and give gifts to each other to show you truly care for each other. The thought is greatly important. Meaningful SMSes with touching thoughts will leave indelible marks of affection, and help recommit and reinvigorate your union.

Please remember that smoking is toxic to your body, mind and well-being. The earlier you can stop this habit, the healthier it can be for you. The lower taste and sinful habit of smoking can be stopped by replacing it with the higher taste. Simply read nice books which give you a higher meaning to life than chemicals in smoking. In place of smoking, spend your time by doing yoga and chant the names of god who you have faith in. It has been scientifically proved that by doing yoga and chanting, the habit of smoking can be stopped.

The word depressed is a common everyday word. People might say" i'm depressed" when in fact they mean" i'm fed up because i've had a row, or failed an exam, or lost my job" etc. These ups and downs of life are common and normal. Most people recover quite quickly. With true depression, you have a low mood and other symptoms each day for at least two weeks consult a psychiatrist and get evaluated. Your depression needs to be evaluated, if mild option is cbt, cognitive behavior therapy alone or along with medicines, if moderate both, if severe, medication s mainly and later cbt.

Symptoms and Causes of Split Personality Disorder

Previously known as multiple personality disorder or simply split personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder is a very serious and unpleasant form of dissociation. It is based on the lack of connection, or rather a discontinuity in thought, action, feeling, memory or even a misplaced sense of identity. It is usually considered to be a result of severe traumatic experiences in early childhood, varying from extremely physical to repeated emotional or sexual abuse. It is thought to be a self-defense mechanism where the person dissociates himself from any such experience or situation that would deem to be harmful to his or her conscious self. It is, however, not to be confused with schizophrenia.

Symptoms

There are innumerable indicators that point towards dissociative identity disorder. Some of them include:

  1. Severe depression
  2. Sleeping problems such as insomnia or sleep apnea
  3. Alcohol or drug abuse
  4. Anxiety attacks and phobias
  5. Suicidal tendencies
  6. Abnormal rituals and compulsions
  7. Visual or auditory hallucinations
  8. Self-persecution and self-sabotage tendencies
  9. Time-loss and amnesia
  10. Mood swings
  11. Headaches and migraines
  12. Inability to remember important personal information
  13. 'Switching' of identities

Causes

The main causes of split personality disorder are unfortunately still unclear and vague, although 99% of persons who suffer from this disorder have a severe traumatic history or background. The causes need not be physical or sexual abuse. It could also stem from emotional abuse like insistent neglect. Studies have also showed that children may become dissociative, if their parents are either too strict or unpredictable.
