May be you are not liking the food served in the hostel. If there is a option, you can shift to your home food else you can have foods that can be prepared on your room with less effort. Try having milk, lassi, nuts, chana to improve your weight.

Firstly weight gain is majorly dependent on your metabolism and genetics play a definite role too. You have to be patient and give your body time to gain a healthy body weight. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, sprouts, fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Even if you were to take medicines or supplements. They will not work in isolation. You have to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal.

I am 42 & my height is 5'3" &my weight is 44 kg. I am unmarried. OF late, my close ones r looking fr a match fr me but the talks do not proceed bcz I appear very thin to other side. I am a vegetarian with no onion-garlic even taken by us. I hv no such disease which causes weight loss. I had jaundice & typhoid long time back. After that my health never improved. Can you please help me out through some adjustments in food, etc.

Failure to gain normal weight generally has a few reasons like inappropriate dietary habit specifically low in protein, physical over activity more than calorie intake and in cases were this factors are absent then most likely their is a problem in metabolism or some clinical conditions or some diseases like hyperthyroidism, protein malabsorption syndrome, etc. If you can share your more details than we can help you.

The reason of not gaining weight are * Improper diet * Indigestion (Disease of stomach, loose motions) * Worms in intestine * Thyroid disorder * Diabetes *Addiction (Smoking or alcoholism) Dear you can easily gain weight and get a healthy muscular body by following these best things - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Dear , glad to know that you are in sports and gym both ie a perfect blend of cardio and weight training exercises. Keep it up. For your kind of sports you need to have a gd low fat high protein food which will help you with the amino acids requiring for body building. You also need to know the timings of having these high protein foods. What you eat before your workout will also have an impact on your muscle mass.
