Now you please tell me that should I go for eeg, I have heard that emg is costly and I cannot afford. No pain. Is it normal or not.

Occupational Therapist, Kolhapur
Cosult a neurologist and get ncv study done for legs and arms if you have muscle wasting. It may be sign of motor neuron disease. Get it done only if you have difficulties in holding objects in any hand. Or have other functional limitations.

Hello madam the role of ESR in Rheumatoid arthritis is of prognostic importance. It is advisable to consult a Doctor to get your doubts cleared I do not want you to get a wrong information about your problems. Rheumatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are two entirely different problems. So when anyone is answering we are assuming that you have rheumatoid arthritis.

What exactly is a spine block injection? Will it work long-term for low back pain due to disc problems?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Bundi
Spine block will block the transmission of sense along nerve. You will not feel pain. Not feeling pain does not mean that disc problem is cured. Pl avoid if u can tolerate the pain Pl send X-ray and other reports if you want to try Ayurvedic Medicine. Till then pl try to take Nycanthes (Harsingar) leaves decoction. Put one tsp turmeric pure to a glass of this decoction. Drink warm.

I am a lady of 43 years and a patient of rheumatoid Arthritis for now more than 15 yrs. Now am having primary Osteoarthritis in my knees too which is now BADLY Affected. Let me know whether its good to take a cup of packet milk available in the market for bone health regularly at night?

DM - Rheumatology, MD - General Medicine
Rheumatologist, Mumbai
Its always good to have milk for bones. But if knee is poorly affected get it replaced, that can give you a much better quality of life. The more you exercise and have dairy products the healthier your bones will be. For adequate exercise it might be good to consider getting your knee replaced.

My wife often complains pain in her elbows and knee joints. I had her ASO test done and the result was 1050 IU/ml. She is 28. Her parents and one of her sibling have history of joint pain, rheumatism. My wife has not taken any kind of medication or therapy regarding this in her life. Please help.

MD - Medicine
Rheumatologist, Gurgaon
Please dont treat her for rheumatic heart disease. Aso is a misused test and patients are treated long term for no reasons. If she has pain and swelling in the elbow and knee joints, I would suggest you visit a rheumatologist and get it sorted out. Dont go on pencillin.

My age is 33 and doing bank job, sitting all day on computer. I have neck pain from last 2 years, I have visited orthopaedic and he advice to do some 10 exercise on daily basis and I am also doing that from last 2 months. But still having neck pain problem once in a week, and after neck pain getting right side headache When I turn my neck round little noise come of touching borne to each other, I feel good to do this. Please advice for permanent solutions and also advice dos and do nots also.

Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity, MPT, BPTh/BPT

This is cervical pain (neck pain) and that's the reason the pain radiates until the shoulder blades. If you keep ice that would help and along side you can do hot water fermentation. You shall use cervical collar which would help you to reduce the radiating pain ie. due to the nerve compression. This is due to the improper posture as while sitting in front of the computer and it leads to neck pain and thereby it leads to shoulder pain

I am suffering from headache from the last two week and also I am fever so what can I do and I have some back problems.

MS - Orthopaedics, MBBS
Orthopedist, Pune
Hello lybrate user, back pain that is associated with day time sedentary jobs like computer professional s are associated with paraspinal muscle spasms. The best way to tackle this sort of pain is to do well spaced stretching exercises of the back, back extension exercises, using hot water bags to provide relief and avoiding stooping posture while sitting. Posture also plays a very important part in back pain, always maintain a straight posture while sitting. While getting up from the bed try to first go on your left or right side of the body and get up side ways. Avoid cruntches or sit-ups: they may increase the pressure on your back and may predispose to slip disc. Always maintain a healthy lifestyle in terms of regular brisk walking, meditation, eating healthy. P. S: try to avoid pain killers (analgesics) as much as possible as many are associated with side effects that you may not be aware of. Stay healthy. Stay happy god bless you.

I am 30 Years old male, I have pain in my back from last two months, took medicine but not get relief. What to do?

Fellow of Endoscopic spine surgery (FENDS) , Fellow of Interventional spine & pain (FISP) , MD-Anaesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Fellow of Pain Management (FPM) , DA( Gold medal-Anaesthesiology & Pain Medicine) , MBBS

Dear lybrate user, if there is pain for more than 2 months, it is labelled as chronic. I'm sure you must have taken medication & physio either after advise from doctor or otherwise also & still you are having pain. Do no worry, this is generally seen in india due to improper guidance to patients. My advise would be to get yourself examined by either of 2 specialist (orthopedician trained in spine or interventional pain specialist). They should be able to put the diagnosis correctly & advise you accordingly for conservative treatment or some intervention depending on source of problem. Hope this will guide.
