1, not stand for long periods if work demands long standing stretch your legs periodically 2. Avoid sitting with your legs crossed, it puts terrible pressure on the veins. 3. Elevate your legs when resting. 6. Loose wt 7. Walk and exercise regularly 8. Low salt diet.

What are the alternatives to avoid surgery for my brother aged 47 identified with Listhesis with foot drop and disc extrusion. In fact I had disc bulge (L3 L4 L5) at the age of 41 in 2013 and took oil massage in Kerala for 15 days and I am doing good now.

You can use good quality lumbosacral belt but with neurological involvement, surgery is unavoidable. Consult spine surgeon.

I am suffering from Varicose veins problem from last many years I have done one laser surgery with Dr. Padariya at jaslock Hospital But same problems repeat again Please suggest me some proper doctor.

DNB (Radio Diagnosis), MBBS
Radiologist, Hyderabad
Hello, It is unfortunate that you are suffering from recurrent varicose veins. Although laser procedure is very successful (more than 97% success rate), sometimes the varicose veins can recur. The reasons for recurrence is 1. Other veins in the leg may develop varicosities apart from the treated vein 2. Recanalization of the ablated vein 3. Unusual anatomy, such as accessory veins which may be missed during doppler testing. It is thus important to get a detailed doppler mapping of the veins before treatment. In my clinic I perform doppler as well as laser myself.

I am 26 years old boy, I am suffering fron hip disorder problem, Avn. How to get rid out of this, I do not have money for operation,

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS)

AVN of the hip at this age is usually due to either Alcohol intake or Steroid intake. Once AVN has developed then it depends on the stage of the disorder. if its advanced then only hip replacement will help.

Hii, I am Siddhesh 27 years of age. I suffered from pulmonary embolism recently. I recently had color doppler test which clarifies that I do not have dvt in my legs. I have varicose veins in my legs and one of my doctor suggested to have operation for varicose. 1) I just wanted to know whether its necessary to have the operation done 2) what are the chances of further getting dvt or pulmonary embolism 3) What sort of precautions should I take for not getting dvt again. 4)Can varicose veins leads to dvt. 5) now it has been 4 months so can I resume gym and sports related activities. Thankyou.

PGD Maternal Child Health, MBBS
General Physician, Akola
Vaicose veins may get thrombosed but the possibility of a thrombus getting dislodged from the wall is far less as compared to deep vein thrombosis. As the doppler has not shown any evidence of dvt in deep veins of legs, the basic question remains, that wherfrom the thrombus got away to cause pulmonary embolism. Fortunately nothing untoward occurred but presuming it was from saphenious vein, precautions are essential. Avoid long immobilization of limbs, squeezing pressure on calves, very heavy exercises to leg muscles etc. Monitor your bleeding time, clotting time, prothrombin time and inr at regular intervals. As for getting operated, the decision is risk oriented. If there had been direct evidence of some clot in leg veins, it would have been strongly indicated. You may need to continue with low dose anticoagulants for some period.

surgery is not the first choice, if presently if pain is acute. just take rest laying on hard surface Even floor etc.. Doing yoga esp bhujangasana regularly at lest for 5 mints will help you to reduce the pain as well as the disc bulge. Along with bhujangasana, if you do ardha shalabhasana with each leg for 5 mints & shalabhasana for 5 minits. There will be complete recovery. Along with yogaasan stat using homeopathy medicine to prevent the backache in future.

varicose, why it effects, what were the reasons? Is it curable? Not to effect, what kind of precautions should take or fallow?

PGD Maternal Child Health, MBBS
General Physician, Akola
Varicose veins occur due to incompetence of valves in the sapheneous veins of the legs due to consistent pressure in the veins of long standing posture where bloid column has to climb up towards heart against gravity. Raising the legs above the level of the heart empties the veins and the stretch pain is relieved. Compressive strapping around legs of crepe bandage helps in preventing distension of veins. Operation of stripping of vein, laser surgery can also help in solving the problem.Sclerosing therapy by injecting the veins is also available.

Varicocele on left side means requires USG abdomen to rule out renal mass whiçh can cause this rarely. If USG normal better go for surgery as future infertility can occur because of this. Surgery is paloma. Can be done laparoscopic or microscopic testicular vein ligation.

I undergone medical fitness test for my profession doctor said You have varicose vein ? What is the symptoms for that and how to treat that without any operation ?

DNB (Radio Diagnosis), MBBS
Radiologist, Hyderabad
Hello, It is unfortunate that you have been diagnosed with varicose veins. However this is a very common problem and can be tackled. The veins in the leg get dilated because of valves not working properly. This causes venous pressure in the leg to build up. Over time there will be dragging pain, skin changes, bulging of the leg, lipodermatosclerosis (Bottle shaped leg with hard fibrous tissue formation) and ulcer formation. Not everyone with varicose veins develop these symptoms however. Rarely clots can develop within the veins. You could go to a good specialist in chennai for the same to know your options.

Which diet or food is better for varicose veins patient or good blood flow in body.

DNB (Radio Diagnosis), MBBS
Radiologist, Hyderabad
Diet plays very little role in varicose veins. In general reduced salt diet may help. Stopping tobacco can also help. Walking frequently also helps the circulation in the legs as the calf muscles act like a pump in sending blood up the leg.
