Beat Hair Loss By Hair Brushing Technique!

Beat Hair Loss By Hair Brushing Technique!

You will be surprised to know that about 35 million men and 21 million women suffer from excessive hairfall in India. Excessive hair fall can be the result of certain illnesses, hormonal changes, over-use of hair products that contain chemicals or a poor diet. What you may not have considered is that you can also lose a lot of hair by combing it the wrong way.

Check if you’re making these common combing mistakes.

1. Are you combing your hair from the roots down?

If you’re combing your hair you should always start from the middle while working it downwards. Move the comb upwards (near the roots) only when there are no more tangles remaining in the bottom half.
If you start combing from your roots, you may have to fight more tangles on the way to the bottom. This induces strain on your scalp, and increases hair breakage. The end result is weak hair and roots, and more hair fall.

2. Are you combing post the application of a hair product?
A comb should never be used just after the application of a hair paste, serum or cream for treatment or styling. You must use only your fingers to comb through your hair once you've applied a styling product.
If you use a comb post-application of a styling product, it not only loses its effect, but may also harm your hair and its texture.Consequently, it may lead to increased breakage and hair loss over time.

3. Are you detangling your hair after shampooing or washing?
Hair is known to be at its weakest when wet, which can also make it prone to tangling. Combing and excessive pulling of tangled, wet hair increases your chances of hair breakage and eventual hair loss.
To avert water-induced frowns, you can try giving a comb-through before wetting your hair in the shower. Alternatively, you can also try combing your hair during a shower. Apply the conditioner first; next, untangle the strands by using only your fingers, and then use a wide-toothed comb just before washing.

4. Are you regularly back-combing your hair?
Sometimes people back-comb their hair from the roots working towards the ends. This hair teasing technique adds volume and texture to your hair. Although it’s a great trick, its regular use may damage your hair cuticles, which as a result, may also ruin your hair’s quality, lead to frizzy hair and increase breakage and hair loss.
To get the element of volume without the damage, you can try light hair sprays, which help you in getting a similar look.

Hello Lybrate user, there are many causes of hair fall, like exposure to pollution, prolong stress, chemical content of shampoo, prolong illness like malaria, typhoid, hormonal imbalance (like hypothyroidism), nutrition deficiency etc.; have protein rich diet like milk, egg, etc. Add more fruits in diet, avoid stress, have enough sleep (7-8 hrs), avoid chemical added shampoo and cosmetic hair oils. Give coconut/almond oil massage to scalp. Take homeopathic treatment for chronic hair fall, it's safe and natural. Medicine is selected on basis of thorough details like medical history, cause, routine, temperament etc. Hence well selected remedy gives complete relief and promotes hair growth. You can consult to me online. Message back for homeopathic consultation.

I have a hair fall problem since last 5 years. Earlier my hairs used to fall like 250 strands per day. I consulted 6 different doctors, all ayurvedic, homeopathic and alopathic but nothing worked. Now when my hair volume has reached to 1/4 of the actual, and I am suffering from. Excess hair loss and hair thinning problem. The hair fall level has reached to 25-30 strands per day now but hair growth is. Not seen and the hair thinning issue is still increasing day by day. As doctors asked to have blood tests done to check the thyroid, ferritin, testosterone. The major problem came. Out to be ferritin and testosterone. The ferritin level was 4 earlier which is below the limit and testosterone level came beyond the limit. Though, now my ferritin level is 15 (within limit) but the testosterone is still beyond the level. Also I start loosing my hair and small hair growth is noticed on my chin. As I came to know that testosterone is also one of the major causes of hair fall and hair growth in unwanted areas. Even the unbalance level of testosterone is because of some other hormonal disbalance, I read. So I want to know what can be the major issue. And is there any treatment to such problem?

I have small pimples ,black head and black spots on my face and I have no good digestion.

B.A.M.S, MD (Ayu.) Kayachikitsa
Ayurveda,
Dear Thanks for contacting with your health concern and please clarify about following points: 1. Any history of sleepless nights, too much exposure to sun OR aggressive or temperamental behavior? 2. Irregular intestinal movements or digestive tract problem (constipation)? [Acne is believed to have a very close relation to the stomach] 3. Have you checked with your Physician/Gynecologist regarding any Hormonal Disturbance (Thyroid/Hemoglobin) or Investigations (ultrasound)? 5. Any associated itching/inflammation with pimples? 6. Any excess use of beauty products on face? 7. In the mean time just wash your face with Besan and lukewar warm water after coming from outside (best natural bleaching agent), removing excess sebum and dead skin cells, likewise Neem, acts as a deep cleanser. 8. Before you clarify along with your concerns, start incorporating following guidelines i. Use of fresh vegetables and fruits, stay hydrated (drink 10-15 glasses of water/ day) ii. Avoid: Sugar (in any form), caffeine, cheese, oily-spicy-dry-fried food, chocolates, cakes, iodized salt, soft drinks. Iii. Avoid exposure of the skin to severe climatic conditions. Iv. Friction makes PIMPLES more likely to erupt, so do not over-scrub or touch the affected area whenever possible. PS: because Skin & Nervous system has a common Embryological origin (thus acting as an initiating or aggravating factor), thus treatment is directed as "Psychosomatic Treatment" It is requested from your side to revert back with above concerns so that guidelines for management (both preventive and curative) can be initiated.
