Indian food is the best food. Not junk good like panipuri chat etc. Maintain your daily regimen. Daily yoga pranayam and surynamaskar early in the morning before sunrise will help you. Avoid food supplements and weight gainer medicine powders as it has side effects.

Can you suggest a diet plan for prediabetes people to avoid risk. Whether bittergaurd juice can be consumed daily? Any side effects?

Hi Mr. lybrate-user Rao 1.Best rigmn for you is to go for 45 min brisk walk in morning and 20 min normal walk after dinner. 2.Take diet rich in fibre 3Avoid Rice. If you are a rice eater only then take thick rice only. Strict No to basmati 4.In fruits -No to Mango, banana, Cheeku.u can take papaya 5.proper Sleep 6.Avoid stress by Breathing exercises and yoga asanas especially Ardhmatseyendra Asana n Mandook asana 7Plenty of warm water. 8.u can take bitter guard daily with cucumber n tomato. Hello lybrate-user, according to your height you have to reduce at least 5 kgs kgs. Drink plenty of water. Take fresh fruits like papaya, orange, apple, guava, strawaberries, peaches, plums and vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, ghia, tori ,tinda lady finger etc. Include protein in your breakfast like egg/panner. Avoid fried foods, dal, rice and heavy items at night. Take early and light dinner as much as possible. Do some exercise like walking, cardio atleast 30 mins in a day.

I have diabetes for the last 15 years. From last 10 days I am feeling pain in my stomach on the right side which increases to some extent sometimes but is bearable. I have lesser urination with smell. I also feel weakness. I am attaching the reports and the prescribed medicines for you reference. Kindly suggest me the medication.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. In this communication there is no facility to upload the reports. So nothing can be seen. Only in private consultations one can do that. You could have written the details. Sometimes if diabetes is unconytrolled, there can be many concurrent problems. When one has well controlled diabetes FBG should be <100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Then most of the problems are in check. If you wish to come in a private conversation then give following details: current fasting, PP & HbA1c%, medication with dosage, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise, then I will be able to guide. I have joined gym from a month but I not got reduce the weight when I goto gym I reduce daily 1 kg next day that again increase 1 kg I am doing daily 2 hour workout but same weight yet What should I do now Can any one answer me thanks.

Hi lybrate-user. When you start your workout, mostly the weight loss you see after the workout is water loss. The best way to see if you are loosing weight is via calculating inch loss. Measure your waist size and check the inch loss again after 15 days. It will show you the right results.

Hello lybrate-user eat healthy and balanced diet, include high fibers like fruits, vegetables, oats, wheatflakes, pulses. Don't skip your breakfast and eat 5-6 meals in a day restrict high fat diet or junk food (u can eat sometimes but not on daily basis, use healthy oils for cooking except ghee. Do brisk walk 25-30 min/day.

I am 25 years old. I have got a very weird problem. Whenever I stand in office for a very long time. I feel like a lot of heat coming out of my legs specially feet. My feet become very red. And I feel very income while standing. At night while sleeping this heating and reddening of feet become very severe. What can be the issues. While in winters I don't have any such problem. I summers specially on working long working days you feel this kind of pain my feet.

How can I prevent diabetic with out taking medicine using only food types? Is it possible? Pls note already I am using medicine daily.

Hello, Thanks for the query. T2 DM is a preventable disease, only when a person is in a prediabetic state. At that point if weight is controlled, regular exercise is done, proper diet is taken and sweets are restricted, junk food is avoided and one refrains from colas, alcohol and smoking, then it is possible to remain free from diabetes. However, once diabetes develops then it impossible to control the condition only by diet and exercise. Proper medications are required to achieve desired low glucose levels. Thanks.

She has very high type -1 diabetes and it is not controlling in any way. She is now taking 2 doses of Insulin of 15 units each. On checkup according to reports her body is not creating insulin so if any physical injury is there it is not getting cured due to high diabetes.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. For T1 diabetes, only treatment is insulin as in these patients there is literally no insulin produced. So if 15 units twice a day is not helping control, then dose may have to be increased or a prandial (with lunch) insulin may have to be added. Plus one has to look at the diet pattern and exercise too. A close co-ordination between the patient and care providing doctor has to be there. Thanks.

We know that garlic consumption has many medical benefits. But can we consume garlic in summers (of north India) too? If yes, then how much and in what form? Thanks in advance.

Dear Thanks for contacting with your health concern 1. Although garlic is best known as good anti hyperlipdemic herb but consumption of same in summer can lead to aggravation of "PITTA' dosha which can imbalance the blood and metabolism [agni] resulting in outbreak of ulcers, acidity [amlapitta],gastritis, low digestion 2. As the hot potency of garlic is responsible for bad odour so avoid consuming it in peak summer time to prevent bad breath as well as bad odour. 3. If you wish to consume the same, I usually advice my patient (s) as follow: i. To prevent bad breath consume 1 clove of garlic during bed time ii. One can opt for lashunadi vati [baidyanath] or garlic pearls [himalaya] iii. If taken in morning: one may rinse mouth with a good mouth wash or drink mint juice [but remember breath comes from blood and not from mouth, so is a temporary measure]

Q1. Some 1 said v should not take a head bath for the first 3 days when menstrual cycle sets in. Is this true? If yes why should v not do so? Q2 .can v have 2-3 cloves of garlic daily soaked overnight in water empty stomach. I hope it dosent cause any problem as it is very hot?
