Some habits that can improve your sleep health: Be consistent. Go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning, including on the weekends Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, relaxing, and at a comfortable temperature Remove electronic devices, such as TVs, computers, and smart phones, from the bedroom Avoid large meals, caffeine, and alcohol before bedtime Get some exercise. Being physically active during the day can help you fall asleep more easily at night. You can try Kali Phos at bedtime. For individualised medication consult online in private for detailed questionnare and medication. Homoeopathy is wonderful in treating such chronic, repetitive complaints. It builds up immunity and restores health of an individual. For medicine consult online in private with detailed account of your complaints and reports.

Dear lybrateuser, - To keep fit & alert have a well balanced diet with more of fruits, vegetables, whole grains like whole wheat, brown rice, oats and quinoa instead of refined ones, protein rich foods such as eggs, lean meats, milk & milk product, tofu, soya products, beans, lentils, pulses, sprouts, nuts - add a protein rich food in each of your meals and also as a snack in-between meals - also do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, pushups, pullups, crunches, squats, moderate weight lifting to keep fit - also check your blood hemoglobin, sugar, thyroid hormone level, vit d & b12 levels to rule out any other problem.

Shirodhara For Insomnia!

Shirodhara For Insomnia!

Insomnia is one of the most common complaints faced by primary care practitioners after pain. Non-pharmacological management of Insomnia that is noninvasive is gaining interest among patients with insomnia.

Purpose:

To determine the feasibility of recruiting and retaining participants in a clinical trial on shirodhara, Ayurvedic oil dripping therapy, for insomnia in the United States and also to investigate the therapeutic usefulness of Shirodhara for insomnia using standardized outcome measures.

Study Intervention and Data Collection:

Shirodhara with Brahmi oil was done for 45 minutes on each participant for 5 consecutive days. Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) was used to evaluate the severity of insomnia as well as to determine the response to Shirodhara therapy. Data were collected at baseline, end of the treatment (day 5) and 1 week after the treatment ended (follow-up).

Two males and eight females with a mean age of 40 years (range 23 to 72), SD ± 14.2, were enrolled in the study. One dropped out of the study, but all remaining nine participants experienced improvement at the end of treatment. The percentage of improvement range varied from 3.85% to 69.57%. At follow-up, most participants continued to improve. Comparison of means between baseline and day 5 indicated an overall signi´Čücant improvement (P < .005), but in a comparison of baseline vs 1 week posttreatment the improvement was not significant (P < .089). No adverse events were reported during the study.

Conclusion:

Shirodhara with Brahmi oil may be beneficial for moderate to severe insomnia. It is feasible to recruit and retain participants for such therapies in the United States. It is important to validate these findings and investigate the mechanism of action using a larger sample and rigorous research design.

Keep doing the right things like Yoga and pranayam and also focus on your duty. Being busy with work gives you a sense of purpose and direction. Please choose your priorities so that you can manage your time in a very productive manner. You can also take the help of a counsellor who can listen to your problems and concerns without any prejudice. You can also talk to people (family members and close friends) who care for you and love you. Plan your day so that there is clarity of thought. You can begin with habits like exercising (it can be any sports also ), adapt yoga which can be adapted as holistic approach towards leading healthy and happy life. Do not ignore healthy food (have a balanced diet - which is healthy and nutritious food ). Have more fruits and vegetables (natural or organic foods ). Avoid junk food / processed and packaged food and beverages including sodas as they may contain excess salt, sugar or artificial preservatives. Sleep well (maintain the discipline ). Read about sleep hygiene from the internet. Read about healthy lifestyle changes and slowly implement the good habits with sincerity and consistency. You can also add Homeopathy which is safe and gentle and can be taken with other medicines prescribed by your doctor. You can contact me for a detailed consultation if needed.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Try to include some physical activity in your daily schedule like walking, yoga or cycling even for 15-20 min as unless the mind & body both are tired restful sleep may not be there - avoid watching a gadget screen for 1-2 hrs before sleep time - take a warm water bath & a cup of milk before sleep - read or listen to light music instead of watching TV at night - avoid tea, coffee after 3 o'clock in the afternoon as it may make it difficult to get to sleep - avoid alcohol & smoking if you do - take a light dinner at night at least 2-3 hrs before sleep time.
