My insulin levels are as follows fasting 32 and postprandial is +600 No blood pressure no other ailment except insomnia. Please advise
Hello, Its abnormally high, what are you waiting for, need consultation to check sugar level, immediately inorder to safguard your eyes, kidney and heart adding extra insulin to your body. You need to monitor your weight, first, please. Obesity cause fatigue, lithargicity, acidity obstructing beta cells to cause diabetes and raised cholesterol to result in Hypertension. You should go for meditation to reduce your stress to nourish pancreas to produce desired volume of insulin. Tk, plenty of water to hydrate your body to regulate metabolism to burn extra fats and carbs. Your diet be easily digestible low in carbs, starch and fats. Avoid, junkfood, alcohol and Nicotine, please. Tk, care.

Ayurvedic Insomnia Treatment In Ayurveda, Insomnia is known as Anidra. According to the Ayurvedic perspective, the doshas (Ayurvedic humors) responsible for this disease are Tarpak Kapha, Sadhak Pitta or Prana Vata. Tarpak Kapha is a sub-dosha of Kapha (Water). It nourishes the brain cells and facilitates a good night’s sleep. Imbalance of this dosha causes poor nourishment of brain cells, leading to Insomnia. Sadhak Pitta is a sub-dosha of Pitta (Fire) and is located in the heart. It controls emotions, desires, decisiveness, and spirituality. Its imbalance makes a person demanding and workaholic, thereby leading to situations that may cause lack of sleep. Prana Vata is a sub-dosha of Vata (Air). It is linked to insomnia, worry, anxiety, and problems like depression. Prana Vata makes the nervous system sensitive; this sensitive nervous system coupled with an aggravated Prana Vata lead to insomnia. In each patient, different combinations of doshas can lead to the disease. The Ayurvedic treatment of Insomnia focuses on balancing the aggravated body energies through herbal medicines as well as customized diet and lifestyle plans. Besides that, relaxation of mind is also important part of the treatment.

I am 17 year old student for many days I can't sleep well in night for many days and get well sleep what I should do and to eat please help me.
Hi lybrate-user you didn't say reason for disturb sleep. There are several reasons for it. Like you are tensed, stressed, or exam fear etc. My advice is try to maintain regular routine. Try to wake up and sleep every day at fix time. If you prefer to read early morning than wake up every day. Don't do haffazard schedule like today you wake up at 6 and tomorrow you wake up at 9. Fix timing for everything. Try to eat homemade food. If you drink too much tea or coffee than reduce it. Try to drink milk at night before going to bed. If you do not feel better than you can consult me through Lybrate for further guidance.

My Dad is suffering from Sleep Apnea and Snoring, please suggest something. He has already taken CPAP Machine but Dr. also suggested for Operation, so I just want to ask whether Operation is safe or should he continue using CPAP? And how much operation costs?
MBBS DLO DNB, Dr NTR university of health science, National Board of examinations
ENT Specialist, Kollam
It depends upon BMI of the pt. If the pt is very obese and he is okay with cpap. I ll recommend you to continue that. Before operation you need to undergo following tests sleep study drug induced sleep endoscopy these tests reveals which is the site for snoring. After these tests we ll decide the treatment. Normally we do a operation called UVPP. Cost varies from hospital minimum 50k.
