I need counselings on my marriage. I have been married for 3 years. My husband is working out of town. I recently had miscarriage. From the time I am married I am facing issues with my in laws. And now it is high time. I feel unloved and unsupported from my husband. All the time only one thing runs in my mind that is to get away from him and his family as I do not see any future.

This may be a tough call, nevertheless it has to be made. Whatever the decision please put in all the details properly in perspective and then consult someone you trust even if it is a friend and then spend some time in contemplation before deciding. Ideally, you should visit a counselor for help. If you are in any way impulsive, then it may reach a point of no return and regrets after that may not bring back the situation for a reconsideration. Marriages end up in divorce within two years for the following reason: sex, finance, and in-laws. Since these are present to some extent or the other, your marriage is threatened. After consulting the people mentioned above, you can inform your husband first about your decision and study the reaction. Then either he or you can convey this to the rest of his and your family. Be absolutely certain if you want to get out of the marriage. If there is any move to reconcile with your husband as a result of your action or decisions, it will be a welcome development but get a professional involved.

I am 20 yrs. Now a days I can not sleep well because I face lot of stress. Can I take any sleeping pills or any other...
For good sleep, just try out these simple ways - 1. Stick to a sleep schedule- Go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Try to limit the difference in your sleep schedule on weeknights and weekends to no more than one hour. Being consistent reinforces your body's sleep-wake cycle. If you don't fall asleep within about 20 minutes, leave your bedroom and do something relaxing. Read or listen to soothing music. Go back to bed when you're tired. Repeat as needed. 2. Pay attention to what you eat and drink - Don't go to bed hungry or stuffed. In particular, avoid heavy or large meals within a couple of hours of bedtime. Your discomfort might keep you up. Nicotine, caffeine and alcohol deserve caution, too. 3. Create a restful environment - Avoid prolonged use of light-emitting screens just before bedtime. Consider using room-darkening shades, earplugs, a fan or other devices to create an environment that suits your needs. Doing calming activities before bedtime, such as taking a bath or using relaxation techniques, might promote better sleep. 4. Limit daytime naps - Long daytime naps can interfere with nighttime sleep. If you choose to nap, limit yourself to up to 30 minutes and avoid doing so late in the day. 5. Include physical activity in your daily routine - Regular physical activity can promote better sleep 6. Manage worries - Try to resolve your worries or concerns before bedtime. Stress management might help. Start with the basics, such as getting organized, setting priorities and delegating tasks. Meditation also can ease anxiety. Identifying and treating any underlying causes can help you get the better sleep you deserve. If above things doesn't help you, then consult us for homeopathic medicines.

I am going through divorce as my husband don't want to have kids. I have crossed 30 and want to go for an IVF as I want to have kids of my own and don't want to adopt. Do I need husband permission for this? I am worried he may not give me divorce very easily. Please suggest me the best possible way to deal with this problem.

Any non therapeutic method to treat bipolar disorder other than taking medicines? I am 42 and would like to get diet tips too. What must be the daily routine for me? I work in the IT industry. I am in morning shift.

Any non therapeutic method to treat bipolar disorder other than taking medicines? I am 42 and would like to get diet ...
Comply with all the medical prescriptions and work in tandem with a counselor for a long time and learn coping skills and techniques to handle the daily challenges you will face. There are certain adaptations that will suit you during the elation phase and there are certain behaviors that are required during the depressed phases. In the meantime you can do certain things that will give you benefits anyway. Emotional therapy will alleviate a lot of the problems faced in this condition because it is a mood disorder. You need to particularly look at your levels of anger both for its reasonableness and to express it in appropriate manner. I suspect that much of this anger may have origins in early childhood that you may never be aware of it now. Talk to your parents and explore that angle. This information will help the counselor too. Also you will need to check whether there is any genetic factor involved. You must exercise regularly, eat healthily and sleep normally too. If your motivation and cooperation is good much can be achieved. You must have a time-structured schedule filled with interesting and reasonable activities and it must be monitored for compliance and delivery. The reason I say this is that many times you will be inclined to have grandiose notions and confidently believe that you can do without the medication. This will set you back many months in the treatment and delay and sabotage the recovery: forewarned you are forearmed. If this combination of medication with therapy is maintained for at least three years without any episodes or breakdowns, it is possible to taper the medication in consonance with the doctor.

5 Ways To Manage Post Traumatic Stress Disorder!

PTSD is a neurological disorder which affects individuals after experiencing severe traumatic situations. The individuals find it difficult to cope with such situations and often have flashbacks of those moments of trauma. Stress, as a result of the trauma wrecks the normal nervous functioning of the individuals. PTSD can have the following symptoms:

Re experiencing:

  1. Flashbacks of the traumatic event
  2. Nightmares, which are repetitive and severely distressing
  3. Images from the traumatic event intruding during the day
  4. Reminders of the event provoking distress

Avoidance or rumination:

  1. Those suffering from PTSD avoid being reminded of the trauma, such as people, situations or circumstances associated with the event. They try to suppress memories associated with the event.
  2. Many others ruminate excessively and prevent themselves from coming to terms with it.

Hyper arousal or emotional numbing:

  1. Hyper vigilance for threat
  2. Exaggerated sterile response
  3. Irritability
  4. Difficulty concentrating
  5. Sleep problems
  6. Difficulty experiencing emotion
  7. Emotional detachment from others
  8. Giving up activities which mattered before the trauma
  9. Amnesia for salient aspects of the trauma

How to manage PTSD?

The following tips will help to come to terms with your traumatic episode and ease stress:

  1. If symptoms are mild, then observing the patient is preferred
  2. If symptoms are chronic, then trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) proves to be beneficial
  3. Alternative treatments include eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
  4. Comorbid symptoms such as depression, general anxiety and alcohol or substance abuse are secondary to PTSD. PTSD should be treated first and then the associated symptoms should be addressed.
  5. Mindfulness meditation (not a treatment option) helps in recognizing cognitive dissonances and affected thought patterns and aids in recognizing and overcoming their influence.

3 Tips To Recover From Childhood Sexual Trauma!

3 Tips To Recover From Childhood Sexual Trauma!

The trauma of being sexually assaulted can be shattering and make one feel ashamed, alone, and unaccepted. It would invariably give way to nightmares, horrifying flashbacks, and a host of unpleasant memories.
Regardless of how you may feel at that moment, you must tell yourself that you cannot be blamed for everything that happened and you will be able to regain back your normal sense of trust and safety if you try. It will undoubtedly take time, and the process of healing can also be painful. Thankfully, with the right support and strategies, you can leave the trauma behind while rebuilding the sense of self-control.

  1. Reframing what happened: It can be extremely difficult to admit that you have been sexually assaulted due to many reasons. It can make you feel offended and weak while also thinking how others would react to it. You are likely to feel that you don’t need to talk to anyone regarding it and act as if nothing ever happened. However, hiding facts will never allow you to heal but add to the feeling of shame. You should choose someone who is not just supportive, but calm and empathetic towards you as well. If you do not have anyone to speak to, you can always go for therapy sessions with a psychiatrist.
  2. Preparing for flashbacks: Traumatic experiences, particularly the ones that involve sexual issues can cause the nervous system to get stuck in an unpleasant state. The human brain can become hyper-sensitive to even the smallest stimuli. This is especially the case with those who have endured sexual trauma. Nightmares and intrusive memories are very common, and you should try to avoid the triggers that incite such feelings. You should pay attention to your health and your emotional state since that will help you track the warning signs such as stress or depression. You must immediately calm yourself down by slowing down your breathing as a panic state sets in.
  3. Nurturing yourself: Healing from sexual trauma is a gradual and time-taking process. You must be very patient throughout. It may not have any effect in a day or disappear completely. This would make your life a lot more difficult at times, but there is a lot that you can do to cope up with the anxiety and fear. You may feel isolated and disconnected from others, but you should try to stay connected with your loved ones since that is vital to your recovery.

Trauma is bound to make you feel powerless as well as vulnerable. It is significant to remind yourself that you have the strength to cope with your tough times. You may also join support groups that can help you cope with these issues and help you lead a fulfilling and healthy life.

There are detailed tests and observations done before making a diagnosis. I highly recommend you to consult a proper clinical psychologist for a formal diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is clear, preparing a course of treatment will be easy and much better.
