7 Things To Eat If You Want A Healthy Brain!

Having a healthy brain is equally important as is staying physically fit. Good mental health is absolutely essential. Apart from regular exercises there are certain foods also which can help you to maintain good mental health.

Below mentioned are few foods, essential for having a healthy brain:

  1. Include Fish in your Diet: If you are a non- vegetarian then include oily fishes like salmon , sardines in your diet. These fishes are replete with omega -3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA. All these are essential for the brain to function efficiently.
  2. Munch on Nuts: Nuts are rich sources of Vitamin E. Vitamin E can help you prevent your brain from Alzheimer's disease. Nuts are also beneficial for elderly people and can help them combat the problem of memory loss.
  3. Keep Preparations with Green Leafy Vegetables on your Menu: Vegetables like cabbage; broccoli is abundant in anti-oxidants. Broccoli is also a good supplement for Vitamin K. These help to develop your memory and also keep brain diseases like Alzheimer's, Dementia at bay.
  4. Have a Sweet Tooth for Blueberries: This fruit is rich in anti oxidants, vitamin C and K. It helps to deal with problems like memory loss, Alzheimer's and Dementia.
  5. Add Eggs to your Breakfast Menu: Eggs are rich in choline and also protein. It acts as a very good food for developing a healthy brain.

I'm underweight and wants to get weight fast but because of my schedule I can not eat enough and not ay time even. Which ready to eat foods I can take with me to eat whole day which will fill my daily calories and protein intake.

I am having a proper diet 4 times in a day but still there isn't much growth in my body. Means m not gaining fat.

See it takes some time to gain the weight so continue what you are having and along with it start to eat Amala fruit 2 to3 times a week and drink lot of water.

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. A person with diabetes feels as fit and energetic like a normal person when his blood glucose is in good control. That means if fasting glucose is < 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. But if the glucose levels are high, then a considerable amount of it is lost in the urine, leading to lack of energy and feeling unwell. Therefore, primary requirement is to bring his blood glucose levels within the expected range. That itself will make him fit. Since there is no mention of any details regarding his fasting, PP levels, HbA1c%, dietary habits, weight, height and extent of daily exercise and the current treatment that is being taken with dosage. So it is difficult to comment. Thanks.

I appreciate your desire to gain weight and bring glow to your face naturally without resorting to any medicines or quick fix solutions. Weight gain needs patience and happens gradually with improved appetite and sensible eating. Weight gain needs a healthy wholesome diet with increase in proteins, healthy fats and required carbohydrate intake. Include more of fish, eggs, chicken, nuts and oilseeds in your diet with ample quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not skip meals and eat frequently. Do some exercise along so that digestion is good. Take care that you do not have constipation and are properly hydrated. You can have brisk walking daily for 1 hour. Also can do yoga surya namaskar and pranayam. Apart from that you should take a proper diet plan. Eat in small quantity at small interval. Should have some healthy food every 3 hourly.
