As long as the woman cuts out the use of the pill, the risk quickly gets cut, as well.
Get Regular Check Ups: While screening for breast cancer by making use of mammograms does not cut the risk of it, the screening helps detect breast cancer early if it does exist. Types of Hernias:

Incisional hernia:

This happens at the site of previous surgery. This occurs as a result of poor wound healing at the time of previous surgery or as a result of complications like in infection. It is rare after laparoscopic or key hole surgery.

Umbilical hernia:

This occurs through or around belly button (umbilicus). It can be present at the time of birth and needs no repair as most of them resolve by the end of one year. If it persists or appears after 5 years of age then operation is required.

Inguinal hernia:

These are most common hernias and occur in groin region. They are more common in men.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease - What Should You Know

Ever heard of that phrase  I can taste bile at the back of my mouth ? It is generally used to express disgust. However, in medical parlance,  bile , the English synonym for disgust, plays an important role in the digestive system. It helps in the digestion of fats (breaks the fats down to smaller particles) and contains the waste products of the blood. Bile is secreted from the gallbladder which is a small organ (sac-shaped) present below the liver.

Procedure

Carbon dioxide is then pumped into the stomach to make the abdomen inflated and a laparoscope is then inserted to see the insides of the abdomen. Through the other incisions, surgical instruments are inserted to remove the gallbladder. Once the removal procedure is completed, the carbon dioxide is pumped out and the incisions are closed.
Open surgery: In an open surgery, a larger incision (as compared to laparoscopic surgery) is made in the abdomen, right below the ribs. The gallbladder is removed using surgical instruments and then the incision is closed.
Post-surgery: In case of laparoscopic surgery, the recovery period is shorter; around two weeks. An open surgery, on the other hand, requires a longer recovery period of 6-8 weeks. You can live a normal life without the gallbladder, as the bile will then directly travel to the digestive system. Mild symptoms of diarrhea and bloating may be experienced. However, they should be temporary and subside within a few days.

Gall Bladder Problems - Which Surgical Procedure Can Help?

Losing weight is a daunting task. This becomes all the more difficult for obese people. In many cases, the patient may be advised to undergo bariatric surgery. There are many types of bariatric surgery. Some surgeries address both the stomach and the small intestines while others address only the stomach. A gastric band surgery is one such procedure.

For this procedure, an adjustable band is placed around the upper half of the stomach. This creates a small pouch that can hold a limited amount of food. But why this procedure has not gained acceptance compared to other bariatric procedures like gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy is because, the compliance with the band is not very good and complications like band erosion, band slippage, band migration are very high. Another dreaded complication following the band surgery in non-compliant patients who eat large quantities and overstretch the small gastric pouch above the band is severe GERD.

In severe cases, rarely, grains of undigested food is seen in the mouth on waking up in the morning. This could be life-threatening. Vitamin deficiencies are rare provided supplements are taken regularly during the weight loss period.  

Gradual band adjustment is required and regular follow up with the bariatric surgeon will yield good results. Over adjustment is not good at all and could lead to higher chances of complications like band erosion. However, proper dietary compliance can make the results of a band better. Ideally, a patient should get follow up checks every month after such a surgery.

All said and done, the percentage of excess weight loss in the gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy are far superior to the adjustable gastric banding. Even the compliance, and maintenance of weight loss over years is better in the other bariatric procedures compared to the band.
