The infection of the bone of the ear is Mastoiditis. This may be an acute infection needing hospitalisation and injectable drugs or may be in the form of slow bone eroding processes like cholesteatoma.

Understanding the mastoid bone: The mastoid bone is made up of air sacs and it looks a lot like a sponge. In this sense, it is different from the other bones that can be found in the human body. In order to function properly, this bone requires air from the other parts of the ear, including the Eustachain Tube which connects the middle part of the ear with the portion that lies at the back of the throat. If this tube gets infected due to any reason, the infection and bacteria can also travel to the Mastoid bone, leading to an infection in this area. Another form of the infection starts from the ear drum and a slowly progressive bone eroding process starts which spreads into the air sacs and can potentially spread to the brain.

Symptoms: Acute mastoiditis will present with earache, ear discharge and onset of fever and chills, as well as redness and inflammation behind the ear. Pain in the ear may be experienced along with headaches and swelling that may be experienced behind the eyes. At the very earliest sign, these symptoms must be reported to an ENT or ear throat nose specialist so that the treatment can happen at the earliest. Chronic mastoiditis may be due to repeated infections and bone eroding cholesteatoma which presents with repeated episodes of ear discharge which may be foul smelling and may even have blood.

Diagnosis: The diagnosis is mostly made on ear examination and may involve imaging tests like a CT scan as well as an MRI scan of the head and the ear. A simple X-ray of the mastoids can help in detecting the severity of the infection, and it spread.

Treatment: After diagnosing the problem with imaging tests as well as a detailed ear examination, the doctor will usually start the treatment by admitting the patient in the hospital. Antibiotic medication will be administered through intravenous methods, after which oral antibiotics will be prescribed for many days after the patient has been discharged from the hospital. 5) regular check-ups - make sure that you regularly check your blood sugar levels and modify treatment from your diabetologist doctor (if required.) your body and your friend/ relative / colleague's body are different, so is your need of medicine for diabetes as well. The pain is common when you take your first steps in the morning after getting out of bed. It is also common for the pain to return when you get up after spending a prolonged period of time sitting down.
Treatment For The Condition
Treatment is broadly divided into home remedies and conventional medication. Home remedies involve the usage of ice packs on the heels, at least three to four times a day. Ample rest for your legs may also be enough to cure the condition. Additionally, the use of comfortable shoes along with stretching exercises may also cure the condition.

However, if none of the home remedies seems to work, over the counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications may be used. The doctor may even inject a steroidal medication into the affected region. In such cases, the medical treatments must be used in conjunction with physical therapy.

Anal Fissure is a small tear in the anal area. This can happen due to injury while passing hard formed stool or even by repeated bowel motion. It may be very painful especially at the time of passing hard stool. 

Symptoms

Most commonly sought symptoms in Anal Fissure are as given below: 

  A noticeable tear in the skin close to the anus. 

  Cutting or burning pain in anal passage while passing stool which may persist for a considerable time

Anal Fissure treatment: Diet: High fiber diet like green leafy vegetables, salads, fruits like papaya, chikku are advised. Resins with milk can also be taken in night. Adequate quantity of liquids especially butter milk is advised. Banana, apple etc. should be avoided. 

Graded Kshar Karma & Ksharsutra: Anal Fissure can be completely treated by Graded Kshar Karma and Ksharsutra treatment. In acute anal fissure; stool softener along with Graded Kshar Karma is advised. In this treatment; Graded Kshar - a specialized Ayurvedic medicine is applied in fissure region. This medicine debrides the fissure and induces healing. Usually pain subsides in a week or 10 days time period when fissure is still in healing phase.

Considering pain has subsided; some patients discontinue the treatment to further aggravate and complicate the problem. For complete healing of anal fissure usually 3-5 Graded Kshar Karma sittings are required at a weekly interval. In between these weekly sittings patients are advised to apply certain medicines in anal passage by themselves. If anal fissure has progressed to development of sentinel tag then Graded Ksharsutra TM treatment is the treatment of choice. 

In this treatment Graded Ksharsutra TM is ligated at the root of sentinel tag. Medicine released from Ksharsutra blocks the blood supply of sentinel tag and it sheds off in a week or 10 days time period. No hospitalization or bed rest is required in this treatment. Patient can continue his normal routine activities as usual during his treatment. So, you can say no to surgery in Anal fissure.
