Stress fractures are small cracks that may appear in a bone. It occurs due to repetitive application of force in the same area. Note:

Osteomalacia is not the same as osteoporosis. Osteomalacia occurs due to a defect in the bone-building process while osteoporosis develops due to a weakening of existing bones.

However, the way you got the fracture and especially the details of it are very good indications of whether you have an avulsion fracture or not.
