There is no need to be alarmed to this extent. Between the ages of 16 to 18 years (in your case it is delayed by a year or so), for a duration of almost exactly two years, all boys and girls will have a spurt in the production of the male sex hormone, testosterone. Due to this hormone there are three identified effects, all because of this chemical: you will become sexually active; you will become aggressive and rebellious; and you will all suffer acne and pimple problems. You have no choice because this is a body clock mechanism that gets activated and over the two years that it prevails, it will gradually subside and return to normal. But during this time you could (driven by the hormones) do something inadvertent that there may be no turning the clock back. So you need to exercise control and channelize this energy through games and sports and hobbies. Also you would have developed secondary sexual characteristics and they seek to be used and seek fulfillment. Again this is not a problem but the drive can be very bad for those who do not have sufficiently well-developed value systems or a good conscience. These kids can lose control and become reckless. Most kids have a problem, like you do, around their sexual urges and may resort to acting out in the form of masturbation, pornography, and other sexual exploits. If you indulge in any of these you can get into a guilt trip or develop an addiction that may plague you for a long time. There is no threat to your mental well being. Your character will certainly be tested, and it will reflect your development in this regard. The best thing to do is to get a sex education from a counselor and ask all the questions you wish answered. Otherwise, you will want to experiment or seek information from your peers who are not adequately qualified to really do justice to your queries.

Sir I have a major problem that I can't do anything continuously. I mean workout, study n also working for my dream. I will continue this activities upto 2 or 3 months max. Variety is the spice of life. All of us tend to get bored by our routines and therefore we have the concept of a weekly off and vacation. To avoid getting bored of things , do everything in moderation . Take short breaks in between eg exercise 5 days a week, or change the form of exercise - gym for 3 days, go to the park on the other 3 days and take an off on one day . Likewise for working for your dream, set monthly ,weekly and daily targets . Reward yourself whenever you are able to achieve your target . Take a break for a couple of days . You don't have to be productive 24X7.

Hi there ~ Early warning signs of schizophrenia In some people, schizophrenia appears suddenly and without warning. But for most, it comes on slowly, with subtle warning signs and a gradual decline in functioning long before the first severe episode. Many friends and family members of people with schizophrenia report knowing early on that something was wrong with their loved one, they just didn’t know what. In this early phase, people with schizophrenia often seem eccentric, unmotivated, emotionless, and reclusive. They isolate themselves, start neglecting their appearance, say peculiar things, and show a general indifference to life. They may abandon hobbies and activities, and their performance at work or school deteriorates. The most common early warning signs of schizophrenia include: Social withdrawal Hostility or suspiciousness Deterioration of personal hygiene Flat, expressionless gaze Inability to cry or express joy Inappropriate laughter or crying Depression Oversleeping or insomnia Odd or irrational statements Forgetful; unable to concentrate Extreme reaction to criticism Strange use of words or way of speaking While these warning signs can result from a number of problems—not just schizophrenia—they are cause for concern. When out-of-the-ordinary behavior is causing problems in your life or the life of a loved one, seek medical advice. If schizophrenia or another mental problem is the cause, treatment will help. Signs and symptoms of schizophrenia There are five types of symptoms characteristic of schizophrenia: delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, disorganized behavior, and the so-called “negative” symptoms. Delusions of reference – A neutral environmental event is believed to have a special and personal meaning. For example, a person with schizophrenia might believe a billboard or a person on TV is sending a message meant specifically for them. Delusions of grandeur – Belief that one is a famous or important figure, such as Jesus Christ or Napolean. Alternately, delusions of grandeur may involve the belief that one has unusual powers that no one else has (e. G. The ability to fly). Delusions of control – Belief that one’s thoughts or actions are being controlled by outside, alien forces. Common delusions of control include thought broadcasting (“My private thoughts are being transmitted to others”), thought insertion (“Someone is planting thoughts in my head”), and thought withdrawal (“The CIA is robbing me of my thoughts”). Low cholesterol linked to anxiety, depression, suicide, hemorrhagic stroke and cancers

People with very low cholesterol levels are at increased risk of developing stomach cancer, according to a study published in the International Journal of Cancer.

The study involved 2,600 residents of Hisayama, Japan, who were followed for 14 years. Gastric cancers developed in 97 subjects. After accounting for age and gender, stomach cancer rates rose significantly with descending cholesterol level. For example, among subjects with the highest cholesterol levels, the gastric cancer rate was the equivalent of 2.1 cases per 1000 persons per year; among those with the lowest cholesterol, the rate was 3.9 per 1000 persons per year.

Patients with low serum cholesterol should consider periodic gastrointestinal examination for the prevention of stomach cancer.

Low cholesterol has been earlier linked to depression, anxiety and suicide in both men and women. Another earlier report has also shown that people with cholesterol level below 180 had twice the risk of brain hemorrhage as compared to those with cholesterol levels of 230.

Hi. I used to get spinning feeling but it got better on its own. But today I again had this like today after being active in the mall I experienced this. I just had coffee. Along with it I got uneasy/anxiety (ghabrahat). It passed after sometime when I sat and relaxed. Yesterday I had bad neck pain for which took one combiflam tablet. I also have eardrum perforation. Hello Lybrate user. Ma'am don't worry sab thik ho jayega .pls aap yeh steps follow karo. 1-Try to stay on the same team. "The enemy is the illness, and not the person with depression, 2-Don't get bogged down in stigma or angry feelings 3-Help this person get a proper diagnosis and treatment. 4-Show receptivity. Encourage a depressed person to talk about the way he or she is feeling, thinking or acting, and listen without passing judgment 5-Offer to go to a doctor's visit. 6-don't try told him how you're feeling what he feel cause you don't 7-help him to remember the happy moment in life 8-if he told you i'm depressed wouldn't tell him me to 9-get him out for hiking or make any hobbies he like. This is my opinion how to deal with depressed people from life experiences or if further you can personally visit your near by area .at least go and discuss this case with the psychologist.

I suspect that the adolescent issues with regard to hormones may be affecting your ability to concentrate and have interest in your studies too. When the hormones play up, it lasts for a period of close to two years and during that time you could be influenced by three signs directly impacted by the chemical: you will tend to become aggressive and rebellious, you will become sexually active, and you will have acne and pimple problems. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact your memory because of the chemical but also bring some distractions that come with it. In case you have problems with concentration here are a few guidelines: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive or coconut oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that you and the family go for counseling too. Whatever happens, do not rush your decision and make it with your parents involved and some close teachers who know you well. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day.The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Now take you pick!

I think I might have dissociative identity disorder, and I am seeing a psychiatrist this Wednesday. But I just wanted to know that, is it very likely that I might have it? Because, I do have all the other characteristics, but- I do have difficulty remembering things I did through out the day, I can't tell you quickly if I have had my meals, or where I left my keys, I keep losing track of my stuff. But I don't have total blank spaces in my memory.

Well the symptoms you have described suggest more towards a problem in concentration and attention which needs a detailed evaluation. Adolescents with thyroid problem, hormonal issues and stress can have these symptoms usually. These symptoms doesn't fit for a diagnosis of dissociative disorder. Hi apply mixture of onion and lemon juice on the scalp, @take 200 ml of fresh buttermilk after meals, @take 30-40 black currants and 1 tsf of jaggery during meals, @take fresh juice of beet or pomegranate in morning instead of breakfast, @take 20 ml of bhrungarajasava and 2 tablets of raktastambhak vati after meals, @use vatajatadi taila and rootz shampoo, do all these things for 30 days it gives you good result thanks.

Sometimes if you're physically not ok then also you will get tired during sex. Indulge in foreplay before intercourse. Keep yourself mentally and emotionally relaxed.

Just taking medication will only correct the chemical imbalances in the brain. While you also need to learn techniques to handle situations with ease and aplomb without losing your mental and emotional equilibrium. Stress has always been a part of life ans will be. It is always better to equip yourself with such tips and techniques. Counselling is such a non judgemental space whwere ou can explore the causes of your anxiety and get to more about your unhealthy outdated beliefs and replace them with healthier and updated beliefs which will leave you feeling more confident about yourself, your relationships and situations which earlier caused you stress. 2. Learning a skill which could help you feel confident is a good way of handling stress. Eg. If you are teaching young kids and you do not know how to teach them. Then it will cause you anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. The b. Ed course will give you all those skills and info that you need for teaching children. 3. Exercise everyday to manage anxiety. A good run, swim, jog will help you to calm down and relax, feeling good about yourself. Breathing exercises will help you to calm down and relax at the time of stress. Anulom vilom and bhramri are 2 pranayams which are very good for anxiety reduction. Do these everyday for 5 mins before sleeping. 3. Avoid junk like fried, processed, refined etc as it is linked to stress and anxiety. Eat more of fresh, raw and whole foods with minimum processing.

You can control your mind by meditation and yoga. You have to stop worrying unnecessarily and have a relaxed attitude to help you in work and life. YOU practise this to prevent depression later on.

My father is 42 years old and he is very much addicted in drinking alcohol. I want solution for this problem.

Alcohol dependence involves intense craving or desire to drink alcohol. People drink for pleasure or rationalize it on external factors like family problems, work tension, etc. They drink continuously, i.e. Almost daily or even weekly once or twice with withdrawal symptoms, tolerance, bodily damage, etc. Due to alcohol they and/ or others are affected significantly. You need to consult a psychiatrist and go for 3 steps of de addiction. 1st is detoxification, when alcohol is stopped and the withdrawal is made smooth with minimal discomfort, 2 nd is maintenance and further deaddiction when the physical problems and psychological state of the individual is maintained and anti-craving drugs started 3rd rehabilitation, when relapse prevention is the goal, while maintaining deaddiction.
