Pl see that weight is due to obesity. One has to avoid spending lot of time in front of television, eating unnecessarily and indoors and do as much physical activity in some service. Discipline and determination are the keys to be fit and overcome obesity.

Staying hydrated is an important aspect of weight loss that people often brush off-you don?t want to gain water weight and feel bloated right? Either that or you hear that you should drink ice cold water to burn more calories. Not exactly. The idea that ice cold water burns more calories because your body tries to ?warm it up? first may technically be true, but the effect is miniscule (like 8 calories miniscule.) Rather, you need to be hydrated for your body to run smoothly, and that includes burning fat. It flushes bad stuff through your system, and also helps curb appetite. And don?t fret about water weight-if you are staying hydrated, your body is less likely to retain water since it simply doesn?t have the need to-similar to how eating more can make weight loss easier, within reason. I should also say- do not buy into specialty waters! Get your vitamins through your diet or supplements. Those waters are not better for you-in fact some are so loaded with flavoring and what not they rival soda. You will need? -8 ounces of fresh water Directions Drink at least 8 cups of fresh water every day. Bottle Gourd Juice Bottle gourds are old-world hard-shelled fruits that anecdotal evidence suggests can help you lose weight. People who swear by it find that, due to its high fiber content, it creates a sensation of fullness and curbs appetite. It also has high water content (always a good thing) and has a number of great nutrients. If you do decide to drink bottle gourd juice, do not do so in such a way that you use it to ?starve? yourself (see below.) Your body needs all the (good) food and nutrients it needs to maintain a balanced diet, however, it?s a great way to help resist cravings and potential snacking sprees! Hello, Gaining weight is a slow process which requires patience and dedication! It not only depends upon the amount of food you consume daily, but also about eating Sensibly, depends upon your genes, your body's proper metabolism, assimilation and absorption, the levels of stress/ tension in your life, and any underlying medical condition you have! The food what and how you eat, makes the difference! For increasing your weight, concentrate on the below points (if you don’t have any medical condition) which helps in gaining weight in a right way without harming your body. - Consume more healthy fats. Foods containing healthy fats are full of nutrients and also high in calories, making them a great option for weight gain. Foods containing plant fats should be your first option - this includes items such as nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados and olive oil. Foods containing healthy animals fats include lean meats and full fat dairy products - although if you have high cholesterol, you should probably stick to low-fat options. -Eat more protein. Good sources of protein include lean meat, fish and poultry, in addition to eggs, whole grains, dairy products and legumes. -Drink more calories. Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full-cream milk throughout the day. -Have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. -Gain muscle mass. It's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Strength training includes working with weights and performing exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, crunches, chin-ups and leg curls. Just keep in mind that the more you exercise, the more calories you will need to consume to replace those you lost while working out. -Quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. -Stay healthy. The most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy - eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. -Take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. -Think Positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos. Both thrice daily ½ an hour before meals for 3months. Revert.

Height 154 cm app. I am suffering from boils around thighs and chest due to diabetes and hba1c level is 7. please Suggest some remedies to avoid cravings as these cravings leads me to eat sweets.

Hello, Madam, If blood glucose levels are well controlled, that is fasting closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c<6.8, then your health remains in good shape. Cravings can only be controlled by self discipline. There is no medicine for that. Sweets have to be avoided as they increase blood glucose level very rapidly. High glucose in blood is the main reason for the long term complications associated with diabetes. Plus looking at your weight and height it is clear that you are having grade 1 obesity with a BMI of 31.25 kgs/M2 (normal <23 kgs/M2). Which means you are carrying 20 kgs extra weight. That is the main reason for cravings and uncontrolled diabetes. You will have to work on reducing at least 5 to 8 % of current weight and maintain that. Thanks.

I am 77 yrs. Old. Diabetic of 26 years. Lantus insulin 20 unit at night. diamicron 500 tablet at day. No other problem. Now, when itches, scratches in the skin happens. Sugar level is 109/190. What precaution to be taken? Am I eligible to donate one of my kidney to any needy person.

Mr. K V Sethuraman, Your blood glucose levels are fairly good, within the recommended limits, particularly fasting glucose. What is the HbA1c%, it should be <7. If you have well controlled diabetes, then you can donate the kidney to a needy person.

My son is very fond of beer and taking it for d last 10 years now he is having d shortness of breath problem and sometimes heart burn r zerd issues so he reduced smoking n drinking but still he takes 4 bottles beer 2 times a week he is around 30 years aged .my question is is it d acceptable range to take quantity? Pls reply me.

Alcohol is a source of empty calories. (100 Kcal/30 ml). Along with alcohol, one consumes lots of junk foods as well. Beer is consumed in high amounts. So ultimately total calorie consumption at one meal is very high. Since the body cannot utilise this, remaining is converted to fats. Men, due to their body composition, have lower tendency to store fat in arms/legs/ thighs/hips. Most of the fat is stored in their belly & blood vessels thus increasing the risk of diabetes mellitus type 2, heart disease & hypertension. Also, alcohol causes liver damage leading to cirrhosis & death. Alcohol also causes malnutrition. Smoking also increases susceptibility to heart disease, hypertension & stroke. He might be already suffering from these problems. I strongly recommend liver function test, lipid profile, blood glucose (fasting, PP), BP, ECG. Diet & lifestyle modification, regular physical exercise needs to be started immediately. He needs to stop taking beer & cigarettes. Red wine (1 -2 glass max at a time) & NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) are better options to replace beer & cigarettes.

The major reason could be lack of nutrition. start taking a healthy diet. a. Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. b. Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. c. If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. d. Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. e. Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. f. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day.  g. You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow this regimen and you will soon start seeing the results.
