Have 1 teaspoonful of licorice root powder with water empty stomach in the morning. This is mentioned as a medhya rasayana in Ayurveda i.e. a mind rejuvenator. Add some fresh rose petals in a cup of boiling water. Keep it aside till it is lukewarm. Add ½ teaspoonful of sugar to it and have this twice a day. This is a good drink to uplift mood. Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. Massage this oil on your affected areas. After that do hot fomentation with salt potli (bag). take 1 tsf triphala churna daily....n practice yoga daily twice..

Do contrast bath (alternate hot n cold therapy) modified footwear. Use rolling pin under your feet. Do it 10 times a day plus some foot exercises! (under proper guidance)

I am 25 years female. I have swelling on my foot, hands, and even on my face. Sometimes I have pain in my heels. My blood sugar fasting is 76, uric acid 4.5, esr 6, blood urea 28.9, serum creatinine 0.9 I have thyroid test too that is 2.29 when I do lit bit work it creates more restlessness to me. Hi, thanks for writing in. Swelling on foot, hands and face has to be evaluated in detail. It might happen due to conditions involving kidney, liver, heart, thyroid and any other generalized condition. It is important to know your weight and height and if you are on the higher side. Restlessness might be due to anxiety and associated stress. Sugar, uric acid, serum creatinine report and esr are normal. Thyroid needs to be matched if it is for tsh, t3 or t4 level. Regards,

It might be of plantarfascitis or calcaneum spur do take ust and laser therapy for pain relief for 10 days followed by strengthening exercise from physiotherapist best wishes.

Knee Pain - Ayurvedic Treatment For It!

Gone are the days when mostly septuagenarians complained of joint and knee pain. The problem today has become common among all age groups. Knee or joint pain at any stage of life is painful, however, the health problem striking early on is scary as one just dreads of living with it in the so many years to come.

Ayurveda is a very old system of medicine, which originated in India. Using herbs found in nature to cure various illnesses, knee pain and joint pain can also be permanently cured with this method indigenous to India. Arthritis and Joint pain are among the most prevalent problems faced by adults, mostly old people. As per Ayurveda, 'vata dosha' Is responsible for joint and knee pain.

Here are some common Ayurvedic remedies, which help reduce knee pain:

  1. Ashwagandha: Ashwagandha is medically known as Withania Somnifera. In the West, Ashwagandha is popularly known as Winter Cherry. Also, it has a lot of therapeutic properties, which include reducing joint pains.
  2. Banyan: The Banyan tree's medical name is Ficus Benghalensis. It has a sap very similar to the form of rubber known as latex is derived from the Banyan tree. The Banyan tree's sap is externally applied over the joints and the pain usually disappears after a few regular applications.
  3. Garlic: The medical name for garlic is allium sativum. Five to six cloves eaten everyday has proved to reduce knee pains.
  4. Ginger: Ginger is biologically called Zingiber Officinale. These can be easily included in your diet and go a long way in curbing knee pain.

The following are some Ayurvedic home remedies that can be utilized to treat joint pain:

  1. Hot & Cold Compress: Cold and hot compresses can be utilized to ease your joint pain effectively. Heat compression decreases the pain, increases the blood circulation and relaxes the swollen joints and muscles. On the other hand, cold therapy lessens the inflammation of the affected joint. Place hot and cold towel alternatively on the affected area to achieve immediate relief from persistent pain.
  2. Turmeric: Add a pinch of turmeric and a teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink this solution on a regular basis for a week. Turmeric contains anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which makes it an excellent remedy for treating joint pains.
  3. Healthy diet: A balanced diet that comprises a lot of green leafy vegetables and fresh seasonal fruits is good for your joints. The uncontrolled intake of fatty food, dairy products, and high sodium diet must be avoided in order to avoid arthritis and joint pain. Prevention is better than cure and in order to follow that it is always beneficial to get your complete body check up done from time to time.

Which Food I should I restrict Or consume, to gain muscle and nerve strength. I suffer from spondlythosis and cervical, I sometimes have swallowing problem (due to GERD operation done) but because of nerve and muscles weakness these problems are there. If so what can be remedy.

Dear lybrate user use hot pack 15 minutes twice a day and use ointment stretching exercise of leg, big towel roll put under knee press towel tight your knee hold 5 sec repeat 10 times, put rolled towel between both knee press for 5 sec repeat 10 times, bend and straight both knee with bed contact 15 times repeat.

My right knee is paining from 5 days applied omnigel spray but not feeling any relief.
1.. Go for fasting once a week. You can go for absolute fasting or rely on a liquid diet to digest ama (toxin). Fasting should be followed by hot fomentation or by taking a bath with lukewarm water or steam bath. 2.. After fasting and fomentation, mix powdered long pepper, black pepper and dried ginger in equal quantities and take 1 teaspoon of this powdered mix with lukewarm water twice a day. This will help you restore your digestive fire. 3.. Take one tablespoon of castor oil before going to bed, once or twice a week. It helps in cleansing ama (toxin) build up and balancing vata. 4.. Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. 5.. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of different joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling. 6.Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. Massage this oil on your affected areas. After that do hot fomentation with salt potli (bag). 7. Take 2 tab yograj guggul twice daily with luke warm water chew them well before swallowing.

Dear lybrate user, causes of calf pain: * calf muscle pain can be be due to injury, underlying medical condition or a problem in the nerves or arteries in the lower leg. * calf muscle weakness and tightness is also a very common cause of calf muscle pain. The weak muscles will often tire quickly if you are on your feet for prolonged periods of time and if the calf is tight, it is prone to damage from overstretching. Treatment: * cold therapy - apply ice pack for 10-15 minutes atleast thrice a day. * heel pad - wearing a heel pad raises the heel and shorten the calf muscle hence taking some of the strain off the muscle. * electrotherapy - electrotherapy such as ultrasound may be applied. This transmits high frequency sound waves into the tissues, which in the early stages can help with pain relief. (consult a physiotherapist in person) * massage therapy -the benefits of massage are stimulating blood flow, micro-stretching the muscle and releasing areas of spasm in the muscle. Note: * episodes of calf muscle pain should always be assessed by your doctor to ensure it is nothing serious such as a dvt which requires immediate attention. * pay particular attention to the signs for a dvt: redness, swelling, warmth and pain around the calf. * also, calf pain that is worse at night or makes it difficult to walk warrants immediate medical attention. You have to do following precautions you have to do hot fermentation for 15 to 20 min, practice some light stretching exercises for knee joint. You can use a number of different stretching methods. If unsure, consult an expert. Rest the affected area as much as possible.

Hello don't get upset, as nowadays due to poor lifestyle and lack of exercise low back pain has become very common. But it can be cured by making small changes in lifestyle. 1) start physiotherapy sessions and learn spine exercise 2) do not lift heavy weights. 3) do not sit in 1 position for very long 4) start strengthening exercises for back and core muscles under supervision of skilled physiotherapist do reply for private consultation and detailed treatment plan.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
