The best treatment for Hamstring muscle pain is to keep ice in the area where you have pain/or where the muscle is paining. You can also do hot water fermentation in the area. You shall keep your legs elevated by using a pillow or 2 pillows. Once the pain is subsided then you shall also go for self stretching of your hamstring muscles. You can do contrast bath to relieve this pain. Contrast bath is nothing but keeping in one tub hot water (bearable heat) and in another tub cold water.

This could be due to lumbar spondylosis with nerve root compression. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take paracetamol 250mg od & sos do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take you may have to use lumbosacral support for some time. Avoid painful act/activities. Hi I am 29 years old, height 5.8 and weight 78 kg. I had increased uric acid level before 1year. I consulted with doctor and he prescribed tablet goutcheck and pan-40 & then I had relief. After 3-4 months I stopped medicines. Now i'm suffering from back pain in morning and some times I get tingling sensation in feets.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your current symptoms of back pain with off an on tingling sensation in feet region may not be linked to your earlier problem. If you have only localized backache with no other associated symptoms like radiating leg pain, numbness, weakness in legs etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc if you do not improve in 2-3 weeks with this conservative management, we will need to evaluate you further in form of dynamic x rays to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

The conservative management would be to keep ice in that inflamed area. Apply ice for the pain to get subsided immediately. You can redo the bandage again so that the healing would be more quicker. You can add protein in the diet which will help you to have quicker healing.

These are more likely symptoms of viral infection and it may take a few days to subside completely. You need not go in for any tests for Typhoid if you have no fever, vomiting or abdominal pain or diarrhea. Just drink plenty of water and take rest.

If I run faster then my legs will pain, what to do for without paining I have to travel more distance?

FIPP, MD, MBBS

If I run faster then my legs will pain, what to do for without paining I have to travel more distance?
Pain on running fast will cause pain if you are not doing it everyday. Any exertion more than your capacity is going to cause pain. Try to increase your running speed gradually over days. If you need to travel long distance, manage your time so that you do not need to run fast. And for the pain you can do hot compresses, will cause pain relief.

Hi My mom is 60 and she is having knee pain since 3 or 4 years. So what option of treatment ? is the surgery is only easy and permanent cure ?

DNB Rheumatology, Grad. Cert. Paed. Rheumat, MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Rheumatologist, Bangalore
Has osteoarthritis. The diagnosis needs to confirmed. If in fact she has osteoarthritis then she needs to be assessed for comorbidities and needs to be put on an intensive exercise program with control of pain using safe pain modfiying medications instead of pain killers. This can be done best by a rheumatologist. The final option is surgery. Surgery is done by an orthopedician. Nowadays if surgery is done properly the risk of failure is < 5%. If you let me know where you live I can give you a reference of a nearby rheumatologist. You can contact me via my website www.Rheumatologybangalore.Com You can get more information regarding osteoarthritis from the document below. I am suffering from leg pains since last week what are the precautions should I take.

BPTh/BPT, MPTh/MPT

I am suffering from leg pains since last week what are the precautions should I take.
Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.
