check for uric acid. and vitamin d3. if its high take some medication. stretching exercises you can do and apply hot pack over pain area. else take physiotherapy.

All cases of acl injury do not need surgery. If the tear is not complete, then it can be treated with plaster cast as well.

Lybrate-user, ankle swelling can be due to various reasons. As you are saying blood and urine reports are normal then do the following take warm water in a bucket and add half kg salt in it and submerge your leg about 3 inch above ankle in the water and try to do ankle mobilisation exercises in water, this will take care of the swelling keep 2 pillows beneath your ankle during rest and sleeping if the symptoms persist please consult along with x rays.

I was doing yoga for spine. The yoga follows by lying flat on stomach and lifting the legs one by one. I did this yoga in morning. After that I am having pain in the back lower waist. Its like the pain is only in the muscles. I can sometimes feel the pain even by breathing. My question is that is this pain normal?

If you are doing yoga for the first time or after a long time then the pain is OK provided you don't have a history of back pain. Or else wait for some days for the pain to subside by applying hot packs and rest.

Back pain can result from bad posture, a sudden jerky movement, a lumpy mattress or poor lifting techniques. It can also be caused by injury in a work place, by a sports accident or by muscular spasms. There are also many diseases and pathological conditions that can lead to back pain. These include abdominal or pelvic disease, anxiety, arthritis, cervical or lumbar spondylosis, dermatological problems, kidney disease, rheumatic conditions, tumours and scoliosis. Our modern, sedentary lifestyles have a profound effect on the development of back pain; indeed one of the most effective ways of preventing it is simply to stay active. An average adult in the India spends at least two hours a day in front of a computer screen or television set, and back problems can be triggered if they don’t sit properly. In an age of mobile phones and computer games, such troubles are increasingly inflicting children of school age as well. Top tips for back care: For back pain, better to see your Doctor sooner than later. Take regular exercise – your Doctor can say what’s right for you. Hours in one position can cause problems – avoid computer ‘hump’. During repetitive tasks, vary your rhythm and take frequent breaks. Adjust car seats and on long journeys, take regular breaks to stretch. Pace yourself with heavy work such as gardening – don’t risk a disc! Watch children’s posture – they shouldn’t carry bags on one shoulder or spend too long at a computer without breaks. Avoid strain when lifting, particularly small children and shopping. Your bed could be part of the problem. Seek Doctor advice on choosing a new one. Take a hot bath or shower, soaking in a hot tub, or using a heating pad, hot water bottle, or heat wrap that provides continuous, low-level heat are all ways to bring healing warmth to your lower back.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You know that over a period of time, spine shows a lot of degeneration and this pain can be due to them. Ideally we should evaluate you clinically and get respective investigations like dynamic x rays and if required mri scans done of the affected region of spine to understand the cause of pain and accordingly treatment can be prescribed. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you for 5-7 days - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home, now a days laser therapies are available which give good relief from pain - epidural injections are good alternative and can be administered in indicated cases - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back, mri scan of involved area and few blood tests for evaluation. There are many conditions that can cause knee pain. - Ice is useful for the control of pain and swelling. It can be applied to the knee for 15 to 20 minutes as often as every two to four hours. The swollen knee should be elevated above the level of the heart while icing. -activities that cause pain should be avoided temporarily. -If the knee is swollen or sore, the following positions and activities should be avoided until knee pain and swelling resolve: Squatting Kneeling Twisting and pivoting Jogging Aerobics, dancing Playing sport You need detail assessment with a Physiotherapist to find out what causing you this pain.

Dear lybrate-user warm greetings, weight loss with appropriate diet and regular exercises should take care of your problems. It seems like a strech pain of your fatty liver radiating to the area mentioned. For controlling uric acid - switching over to vegetarian diet, avoid bakery products, pulses and high protein content foods shall be regulated heavily. Avoid tomatoes, cabbage, carrot. More on fruits and plenty of water also helps in reduction of uric acid. Abstinence from alcohol and smoking is a must. Have a good day and healthy times ahead, please come back to me if you have any issues. Also donot forget to report the results of the advices later.

Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Swing 20 times morning and evenings. Identify the gap between the ankle bone and the tendons and give pressure with your fingers on either side of the ankle for 3 minutes 4 times a day this will relieve your problem. Also take calcium tablets for a limited consult me after 5 daysperiod 2 months consult after 5 days

Mr. Lybrate-user, it is good that he wants to visit kashmir. Walking long distance is actually god for health. If his blood sugar levels are in control, then there is no worry. He should carry is rgular medication in adequate quantity. Take care of proper food intake and not missing his anti diabetes medication. For taking care of pain, he should carry any pain killer which he is comfortable with. But it should be used very sparingly. I do not see there is any reason to worry at all.

Dear sir first time I chekup my hall body on 15 03 2015 in my life so detect blood sugar 504 after fasting before 367 and one day after that result 267 and 248 and after diet control exercise and many more precaution 114 diabities came but still my lag pen continuous I saw last 31 march 2015 orthopedic he tell me after saw a xray you have n9 complaint it s just masculer pain what we do every day my leg pain

I will have 2 recommendations for you: 1) please get a regular opinion of a diabetologist because one reading does not mean that you are cured of blood sugar problems. 2) as far as your leg pain goes, it can be due to multiple reasons but I can advise you in a better manner if I can see some of your blood test reports like cbc, esr, cro, serum potassium and serum vitamin d levels. Also please tell me whether there is any swelling, or any other s/s of inflammation like redness, local warmth etc? over the involved leg? also if possible please send me a clinical picture of involved leg pointing towards site of pain so that I can see and understand. Till that time you can actually start with ice packs, limb elevation at home and a short course of anti inflammatory medication do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Since you are very young, if you have only localized backache with no other associated symptoms like radiating leg pain, numbness, paresthesias etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc if you do not feel better with these measures in 2-3 weeks time, we will need to evaluate you further in form of dynamic x rays to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.
