Its important we try to distinguish your attacks as per the cause. If it is just because of allergy, pollution, change of weather etc we can handle it conservatively but if it is bacterial and the bacteria is piled up in the tonsils, then only a surgical option can be provided. However, we need to examine your throat and do some basic investigations. Meanwhile: drink plenty of water (hydrate yourself nicely), gargle with plain luke warm water 2-3 times specially after consuming food, avoid local losenzes, avoid old cooked oily food.

Type-1 Diabetes - What Is It and What Causes It?

Type-1 Diabetes - What Is It and What Causes It?

What is Type-1 Diabetes?

Type-1 Diabetes, also known as Diabetes Mellitus type-1, is a condition which is characterised by the lack of sufficient amount of insulin in the body. This is a chronic condition and cannot be cured. The insufficient amount of insulin in the blood results in the spike in blood sugar levels, which in turn, can damage various organs in the body. However, with proper therapy and treatment, it can be controlled and the quality of life can be improved for the patient.

The tell-tale signs and symptoms of this type of diabetes are the frequent urges to urinate, increase in appetite, increased thirst and rapid weight loss. It is most commonly diagnosed in children or young adults and thus, it was previously known as juvenile diabetes.

Glucose and other types of sugars are essential for the body cells to absorb energy. The glucose that is present in the blood is taken up with the help of insulin and utilised for energy. The lack of this hormone renders the glucose useless as it is not being able to enter the body cells. This is precisely type-1 diabetes.

What Causes It?

The cause of type-1 diabetes is not known entirely. Although, there are certain theories that explain the cause –

  1. Genetics: The chances of getting type-1 diabetes are increased in children if either of their parents suffers through from this disease. More than 50 genes are involved in diabetes type-1.

  2. Environmental factors: Environmental factors are also thought to play a role in type-1 diabetes.

  3. Viral infection: A theory suggests that viral infections are responsible for type-1 diabetes. According to this theory, the virus activates the auto-immune system of the body which in turn attacks the pancreatic beta cells along with the cells that are infected by the virus. Viruses like Epstein-Barr virus, Mumps virus, rubella virus etc. are considered to be responsible for the same.

How Is It Treated?

Many people with type-1 diabetes live long, healthy lives. The key to good health is to keep your blood sugar levels within the range your doctor gives you. You’ll need to check them often and adjust insulin, food, and activities to make that happen.

All people with type-1 diabetes must use insulin injections to control their blood sugar. Several types of insulin are available. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an endocrinologist and ask a free question.

This is caused due to dry nose, as this is due to lack of mucus in the nose, mucus is basically a protective layer in the nose which helps to keep nose wet, as nose gets dried up this leads to recurrent infection of nose along with sneezing.

Hello and welcome to lybrate, from your history, I have come to an conclusion that the lump is nothing but enlarged post auricular lymph node. This lymphadenopathy is generally due to scalp infection. So, I think you first go to a dermatologist. That will be best for you. Thanks and get well soon.

Hi, please follow these tips to stop snoring: - reduce your weight if you are obese. - perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday. - quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - quit alcohol and sedatives which relax the throat muscles and results in snoring. - sleep on sides instead on back. - elevate the head by using a thick pillow which eases the breathing. - clear the nose before going to bed. - establish regular sleep pattern. - keep the bedroom air moist by using humidifier; as dry air irritates the mucosal membrane in the nose and throat. - perform throat exercises like repeating the vowels a, e, i, o, you loudly for 2-3 mins few times a day or keeping the tongue behind the teeth and moving it backwards - 3-4 times a day. - anti snoring appliances can also be used.

Hi, globus pharyngis (globus hystericus, commonly referred to as having a" lump in one's throat"), is the persistent sensation of having phlegm, a pill or some other sort of obstruction in the throat when there is none. Swallowing can be performed normally, so it is not a true case of dysphagia, but it can become quite irritating. One may also feel mild chest pain or even severe pain with a clicking sensation when swallowing. The" lump in the throat" sensation that characterizes globus pharyngis is often caused by inflammation of one or more parts of the throat, such as the larynx or hypopharynx. In some cases the cause is unknown and symptoms may be attributed to a psychogenic cause i. E. A somatoform or anxiety disorder. It has been recognised as a symptom of depression, which responds to anti-depressive treatment. Differential diagnosis must be made from eagle syndrome which uses the patient's description of" something caught in my throat" as a diagnostic tool. Medication: take ignatia 30/ 3 times a day daily for 2 weeks. Revert.

Snoring problems can be innocent simple snoring or part of obstructive sleep apnea (which has significant health risks). Except for mandibular devices let me assure there is no home remedy or medicine for snoring. You will require one or all of the following. Proper ent assessment, sleep study, ct scan of sinuses. Once your severity of is known you may be advised weight reduction, life style changes and cpap or surgery upfront. Indeed your problem is much more complex than you think.

If it is the normal color of your nose then nothing much can be done about it but if it is because of any problem then you have to see a doctor to find out the cause and treatment for it.
