Side Effects of Diet Pills
Today ‘Diet Pills’ are the shortcut to lose weight and many people favor them to cut down their time and efforts occupied for losing weight. But they don’t know about the dangers of diet pills and side effects. While taking these pills they carry the risk of nasty potential side effects and possible complications.
Recently sales of appetite suppressants (e.g. dexfenfluramine) is stopped after a research that linked it to long-term problems including the heart diseases.
The diet pills are of two types:
• Placebos: – Drugs that contain nothing probably just sugar or chalk etc.
• Ephedra: – Pills based on the drug Ephedrine, similar to amphetamine. This drug carries the risk of many serious side effects including vomiting, heart palpitations, insomnia, strokes, kidney failures, miscarriages, and heart attack.
Diet pills available in the market are only suitable, if taken under the medical supervision. They are:
• Xenical:-A chemical that prevents absorption of fat. Side effects include diarrhea, wind, stomach ache, headache, tiredness, irregular periods and anxiety.
• Reductil:-Side-effects include heart palpitations, raised blood pressure, constipation, nausea, insomnia, and anxiety.
Medical Precaution: – The whole treatment should occur under strict medical supervision. Anyone who is overweight but not obese should be told to lose weight by a combination of healthy eating and exercise, perhaps with the aid of a dietician.
Danger Zones:- In August 2002, the Guardian reported that: “Five people have died and almost 500 have fallen ill after taking the dangerous and poorly regulated herbal slimming aids from China, according to reports in recent weeks that have highlighted the fatal consequences of Japan’s dieting obsession.”

Hello, It's good to reduce weight at right time as many problems are directly related to overweight! Remember, there's no magic bullet for weight loss. The key to losing weight is burning more calories than you consume. Choose a variety of healthy foods — such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean sources of protein — and include physical activity in your daily routine. Go through the following guidelines and implement them in your routine: Management: 1: Drink plenty of water (at least 2-3 l/d) or other calorie-free beverages. 2: Be choosy about nighttime snacks. 3: Enjoy your favorite foods. 4: Have 6 meals per day - 3 main courses and 3 snack meals (snack meals should be healthy). 5: Do regular exercises daily (start with light and later may be little vigorous). Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. Preferably brisk walking, swimming, cycling, skipping. 6: Eat seasonal fruits. Fruit helps to satisfy your sweet tooth thanks to its natural sugars, while fresh vegetables help you fill up more quickly. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. 7: Eat more whole grains and cut simple carbs. Whole wheat bread, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, and brown rice are all excellent sources of energy and sources of nutrition. 8: Choose lean proteins instead of fatty ones. 9: Cut the salt from your diet. Eating more sodium causes your body to retain water, which can cause you to feel bloated and gain more weight. 10: Don't skip meals. When you skip meals, your body stops breaking down fat and starts breaking down muscle tissue. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than other tissues, so you're actually working against your goals 11: Eat at home. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 12: Give yourself a treat now and then. If you're attending a party or going out for a special occasion, allow yourself an indulgence. Just make sure that these indulgences don't become daily habits. 13: Go for a health walk. Gear up yourself daily for a health walk which not only shed off your extra calorie, but also reduces the stress levels. 14: Take small frequent breaks for a quick walk in between as sitting for long hours together encourages the accumulation of fat in the body! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine - Schwabe's Phytolacca Berry tablets/ thrice daily 1/2 an hr before the meals for 3 months. Thereafter revert me back for further guidance. (Slow and steady weight loss is good. As we all know when you lose weight fast, it seems to jump right back on, whereas when you lose weight steadily over time because of changes to your diet and balancing your hormones out it tends to stay off.) , If hypothyroidism is well controlled with TSH levels between 3 to 4 mU/L, then efforts to reduce weight are successful. So please look at the TSH level and not as desired, then thyroxine dose may have to be increased. Plus you will have to control dietary intake based on ideal body weight and exercise daily for at least 1 hour. Thanks.

Hye, thanks for the query. For your height, your ideal weight is 48kgs. Firstly it is important to understand that weight /fat loss involves sensible eating. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals. Reduce your main meals by 1/4th the amount. Take a glass of lime water 10minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips.

1. Avoid all snacks and commercial products with sugar in them - biscuits, cakes, bournvita, horlicks, coke, pepsi, energy drinks, sweetened yogurt etc. 2. Cut down on your daily intake of tea/coffee and maintain it at 3-4 cups a day. 3. Try to add little sugar to any beverage (coffee, tea, milk, lemon water etc.) that you have and ideally you should refrain from adding any sugar altogether. 4. If you have a sitting job then ensure that you do not sit for more than 30 minutes at one stretch. Get up and move a little after every 30 minutes. 5. Try to work out for 20 minutes each day. You do not necessarily have to go to the gym. You can incorporate some pretty powerful exercises in your daily routine like - squats, skipping, surya namaskar and core exercises. 6. Do not eat for 3 hours before you go to sleep. Eating before going to bed is one of the main cause of rapid weight gain. 7. Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday but remember that tea/coffee are not substitutes for pure water.

This kind of excess weight is breeding ground for many diseases (blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, certain kind of cancers, arthritis etc), which can affect the quality of your life ahead. This is a lifestyle related issue and it can be surely treated with intensive lifestyle modification program. Most people who are fat are made to feel that it is because you lack will power, you are lethargic and a weak person. But that is definitely not true. It is your your hormones which have made you fat and keeping you fat. Unless we make correct diagnosis and and create a diet and lifestyle plan to correct that hormonal abnormalities you will not be able to lose weight for long term. Most diet fails because they are low calorie and low fat. Instead of correcting metabolism, they make you feel low energy or makes you feel excessively hungry. If you are doing regular exercise, it will increase your fitness but it does not reduce weight much. I am sure you did not gain this much weight suddenly but over a period of time. To achieve weightloss - think long term. Weight loss achieved over short term, always comes back. There is a general approach and a specific approach as per individual patients metabolic profile. Try this general approach (see below) for 4 weeks. If this works then continue. If this is not enough then revert for further assessment and customized approach. 1. Do not eat anything sugary or sweet. Zero sweetness in diet. 2. Eat plenty of salad in lunch and dinner along with other foods. 3. Do not drink any liquid calorie like cola or fruit juices. 4. Continue brisk walks or jogging for 45 - 60 minutes every day.

Hi lybrate-user - incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. 1. Dinner whole grain bread or chapattis, steamed vegetables and any seasonal fruit except banana and apple. 2. Do regular exercise like brisk walking (at least), running, swimming etc. Avoid sedentary and lazy lifestyle. 3. A glass of warm water mixed with the juice of half a lemon. A teaspoonful of honey can be added have it early in the morning.

Hello you need to understand the concept of weight loss. It's a gradual process that requires cut down in calories under the guidance of a dietitian and regular exercise. Don't skip breakfast. Sleep for 7-9 hours per night. Avoid fried foods, sweets, carbonated drinks and processed foods. Include whole grains, sprouts, seasonal fruits and vegetables, salad vegetables like cucumber, kakri, onion, tomato etc. Include green tea 4-5 times a day. Drink plenty of water. Take 3 main meals and 2 side meals. Take flaxseed powder 1 tsp with lukewarm water on empty stomach. Thank you.

Take high fiber low fat diet. Drink lot of water everyday Take small and frequent meals at regular intervals of 2-3 hrs. Avoid outside food completely.

Hi lybrate-user, the weight gain is quite due to your sedentary lifestyle. Try to burn maximum calories throughout the day by indulging in any kind of physical activity you like e. G. Brisk walking, cycling, dancing etc. For at least 30 minutes a day. The most important thing to remember is to be regular and consistent. Experts say'sitting is the new smoking' so please get up from your seat/desk as often as possible e. G. May be to fill up a water bottle, go to your colleague's desk to discuss office issues instead of sending an email, do not use lift/escalators wherever possible, go for 10-15 minutes light walk pre- lunch etc. Eating healthy and small meals every 3-4 hours is equally important to boost the metabolism. Avoid processed foods and stick to healthy homemade meals. You can consult me for a detailed diet plan and exercise regimen. Good luck!

मोटापा कम करने के घरेलू उपाय: Motapa Kam Karne Ke Gharelu Upay in Hindi

मोटापा एक ऐसी स्थिति है जहां शरीर में वसा का अधिक भंडारण होता है। मोटापा की समस्या सिर्फ भारत में नहीं बल्कि पूरे विश्व में बढ़ रही है। आज हम आपको मोटापा कम कर्ने के सरल घरेलु उपचार बताएंगे।

मोटापा, चरबी आदि होने के अनेक कारण हो सक्ते हैं, जैसे कि:

- व्यायाम न करना
- नीन्द पूरी न होना
- अधिक घी, तेल आदि चीज़ो का सेवन
- आनुवंशिक विकार
- हार्मोनल असंतुलन
- गर्भावस्था
- आसीन जीवन शैली
- तनाव
- बड़ी मात्रा में शराब का उपभोग करना

मोटापा बढ़ना जितना आसान है, घटाना उतना ही मुश्किल। केवल व्यायाम वजन कम करने के लिए पर्याप्त नहीं है, सही आहार का पालन करना उतना ही महत्वपूर्ण है।

इससे पहले कि आप अपना वजन कम करने का प्रयास शुरू करें, आप अपना बी.एम.आइ माप ले। बीएमआई आपको बताता है कि आपकी ऊंचाई और आपकी उम्र के अनुसार आपका वजन कितना होना चाहिए। यह आपको बताएगा कि आपको कितना वजन कम करने की आवश्यकता है। यह जानने के बाद आप हमारे बताए घरेलु उपचार का उपयोग कीजिए। आप कुछ ही दिन मे खुदसे हल्का एवं तन्द्रुस्त महसूस करेंगे।

1. पानी: हर दिन कम से कम 8 ग्लास पानी पीजिए, और आप जब भी पानी पीएं, आराम से पीएं. एक ही घूँट मे ना निगल जाएं। पानी में इलेक्ट्रोलाइट्स होते हैं जो वजन कम करने में सहायता करते हैं। 

2. शहद और नींबू: हनी और नींबू एक साथ शरीर के वजन को नियंत्रित करने के लिए अद्भुत काम करते हैं। गुनगुने पानी का गिलास लें, उस्मे शहद की एक चम्मच, नींबू के रस के 3 बड़े चमच और एक चुटकी पिसी हुई काली मिर्च डाल कर हिला ले। यह मिश्रण हर सुबह खाली पेट पीएं।

3. ग्रीन टी: ग्रीन टी एक शक्तिशाली एंटीऑक्सीडेंट है जो जिद्दी और कठोर वसा जलाती है। इसका सेवन रोज़ बिना चीनी डाले करें।

4. खीरा: क्या आपको पता है कि खीरे मे 90% पानी होता है? खीरे फाइबर समृद्ध और कोलेस्ट्रॉल मुक्त होते हैं। यह आपको ताज़ा रखते हैं, विषाक्त पदार्थों को शरीर से निकालते हैं एवं आपकी त्वचा में सुधार लाते हैं।

5.गाजर: पेट के मोटापे को कम करने का बोहोत अछा उपाय है गाजर। यदि आप रोज़ सुबह खाली पेट 1 ग्लास गाजर का जूस पी लें तो निश्चित रूप से आपका पेट कम होने लगेगा।

6. लौकी: लौकी भी खीरे की तरह फाइबर से समृद्ध होती है और उसमे बिल्कुल वसा नही होती. आप लौकी की सब्ज़ी बना के खा सकते हैं या इसका रस निकाल कर भी पी सकते हैं ।

7. अजमोद: यह आपके गुर्दे को डिटॉक्स करता है और इसके सेवन से पेट भरा भरा महसूस होता है जिसकी वजह से आप कम खाना खाएँगे।

8. गोभी: इसमें टैटरिक एसिड होता है जो चीनी और कार्बोहाइड्रेट को वसा में परिवर्तित होने से रोकता है। इससे आपके पेट और जांघों का मोटापा बोहोत जल्दी हटेगा।

9. जूजूबे की पत्तियां: जूजूबे की पत्तियों को पानी मे सोख कर रात भर रखा रहने दें। सुबह उठकर खाली पेट इसे पीएं । यह एक महीना करने पर आपको इसका असर दिखने लगेगा।

10. सौंफ के बीज: सौंफ के बीज वजन घटाने के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ हर्बल तरीकों में से एक हैं। भारी भोजन करने के 15-20 मिनट पहले एक कप सौंफ वाली चाय पी लें। यह आपकी भूख को रोकने में मदद करेगी।

Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. To improve the metabolism, try increasing the duration, frequency, intensity of your daily workout. Remember that maintaining the ideal weight is a lifetime commitment and not a short-term affair. Firmly believe that the pleasure of being trim and healthy is far better than the pleasure of eating unwisely.

Hi Lybrate user … Eat few these things for avoid over weight gain and fat. Apples: They are super foods that you can take three to four times a day as a substitute to carb-rich foods. Almonds: Rich in Vitamin E and has high fiber content that will make you feel full and reduce your hunger. Green Leafy Vegetables: They are rich in fiber and very low in calories. They will help in preventing water retention. Avocado: They are rich in high fiber and have high monounsaturated fatty acids that help in reducing belly fat. Cucumber: Cucumber is a vegetable that has high water content and is very low in calories. Watermelon: It is a fruit that has 80% water content in it and very few calories. They help in easily attaining desired waistline. Beans: This vegetable helps in improving digestion, as well as strengthening muscles. It will help in toning the belly by reducing hunger and prevent you from overeating. There are few good exercise for reducing belly fat. I. E. Crunches, Reverse Crunches, Twist Crunches, Vertical Leg Crunch, Side Crunches, Bicycle Exercise, Rolling Plank Exercise, Lunge Twist, Side To Side Bending, Stomach Vacuum, Captain’s Chair, Walking, Jogging, Running, Cardio Exercises, Swimming.
