Back exercises. Many people go to physiotherapists with back pain. Here are two exercises that help to relieve pain and reduce stiffness in the back: •Dear, 1. Lie on your back with both of your legs straight. In this position, bring your left knee up close to your chest. Hold this position for 10 seconds. Return your leg to the straight position. Repeat with the right leg. •2. Stand up with your arms on your side. Bend to the left side while slowly sliding your left hand down your left leg. Come back up slowly and relax. Repeat with the right side of your body.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your injury was around 6 months old and since then all tissues must have healed by now. Did you do a x ray after your initial injury to rule out a bony issue? my advise is: - do intensive ice packs 3-4 times in a day - take a short course of anti inflammatory medication for 5-7 days - start physical therapy like stretching exercises for your plantar fascia initially under supervision of a physical therapist - modify your footwear and try to wear well cushioned sports shoes or leather shoes with insoles to give extra protection to your heels. Normally this should take care of your symptoms, in case pain continues, please let me know. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Are there any exercises that can be done to cure chondromalacia? Do I have to keep myself away from sports?
Goodevening mam yes I ahve understood your question. Firstly you must start with a couple of isometric exercises for your knee. Place a towel while lying down under your knee and press it down till about 10 seconds and then release. Then you should raise your leg upto 45 degerees and hold for 10 seconds. Secondly do active knee bending and straightening of knee while in sitting position. Do these exercises every day twice. Please let me know how your feeling.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your issue could be in shoulder or muscular in nature. I will advise you to take rest which means slowing down of physical activity till pain subsides, ice packs, anti inflammatory medications, physical therapy, gradual return to sports once you are pain free with initial pre activity stretches, and gradually increasing your activity levels as per pain tolerance. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.
