Cleaning earwax with earbuds is always risky. There is always caution written in ear bud pack not to use it to clean ear wax. For detailed explanation read my health tip ear hygiene and cleaning on lybrate. You must consult nearby ent surgeon for further treatment as apart from pushing wax deep inside there's rare risk of damage to eardrum.

I am a teenager hand have sinus problem I can not enjoy many cold food which I want to eat please reply to my answer.

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
First thing you should go for ct scan of nose and sinus than treatment is based on grade of the sinus, if it is grade iv than no treatment is available or effective unless you get this corrected by surgery, surgery will give you nearly 80-90%. Than remaining you can treat with homeopathy than it will help. The bone of he nose gets deviated this leads to nose breathing problem if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusits and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusiits. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopic ally. But if the sinusitis is grade ii or iii than there are possibility that you may get relief from symptoms.

Poor oral hygiene, gum disease, tooth decay, or mouth infections can also be causes of halitosis. Smoking or chewing tobacco-based products also can cause bad breath. Medical conditions eg sinusitis, bronchitis or respiratory infections can also cause bad breath. I would suggest you to- maintain oral and dental hygiene. Use antibacterial mouth wash. Stop smoking. Get checked by ent doctor to rule out medical cause or if any medication required. Hope this helps you.

I'm suffering from nasal polyps. Is it mandatory to do operation or can be curable by medicine?

MS - ENT(Gold Medalist), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Delhi
It depends on extension of disease that can be assessed by ct scan. If disease is limited it can be treated by medication and nasal spray otherwise surgery (fess i. E functional endoscopic sinus surgery) is preferred choice for nasal polyps with less chance of recurrence if done properly and using latest instruments like microdebrider.

This is due to lack of mouth protection to bacteria, as of less of mucus in the mouth. This can be corrected by taking iron rich diet, and shakes, fruits, as mucus helps in trapping the bacteria and take it down into pool of acid.

Having sores inside mouth and tongue and constipation what medicine should I take?

MBBS, DGO (cal)
General Physician,
Would you little elaborate like, when and how it started, how long, positions of ulcers, your personal habit of food, occupation - these may help to arrive at some diagnosis. What I can gather you are obese and possibly do not do any physical. What I suggest are: 1) Start brisk walking at least 5 km daily. Do physical exercise like abdominal crunches and all others. 2) Take plenty of oral fluid (plain water) on regular basis. 3) Take high fibre food regularly. 3) Stop animal protein for about a month and stop high fat diet forever. 4) Once or twice week Isogel Husk 3-4 tsp inthe evening with water and take about 300 ml of water immediately after that. Or Mucibeal 2 Tsp in the evening with water and same way followed by 300 ml of water. If your bowels are well clear twice a week, that is enough for your health. But avoid stool to get hard. Gradually withdraw Mucibeal as the condition is improved 5) Hexigel - can be applied locally on ulcers. Add fresh lemon juice at least of one lemon per day, in your diet list. 6) Vizylac - 1 cap twice daily after food for about two weeks.

I am 31 years Male, Height 5'7" weight 74 kgNo any inherited disease record healthy yoga person. Problem lies here is with my Snoring at night, what should i do to get rid from this?

MBBS, cc USG
General Physician, Noida
I am giving you some health tips for snoring problem Lifestyle changes to stop snoring Lose weight. If you’re overweight Exercise exercising your arms, legs, and abs, for example, also leads to toning the muscles in your throat, which in turn can lead to less snoring Quit smoking. smoking irritates the membranes in the nose and throat which can block the airways and cause snoring. Avoid alcohol, sleeping pills, and sedatives because they relax the muscles in the throat Establish regular sleep patterns. Create a healthy bedtime ritual with your partner and stick to it Clear nasal passages. Ifyou have a stuffy nose Keep bedroom air moist. Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat, so if swollen nasal tissues are the problem, a humidifier may help. Change your sleeping position. Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing Sleep on your side instead of your back Consult chest Physician for further management

I am 57. I sometimes feel my body shaky and dizziness. Pl. Suggest alternative medicine.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Nashik
Hello. Generally dizziness and fatigue are related to less nutrition. As you are 57, body requires extra energy to replenish itself as wear and tear of body is on a higher side due to age. I would suggest two dates regularly in the morning and evening along with milk. Also try to eat at regular intervals along with proper rest. One fourth tsf sitopaladi churna with ghee and sugar twice daily after meals along with warm water will surely help for your dizziness. Although you should not b diabetic for using this medicine. I hope you will b alright with above advice.

Greetings lybrate-user, there could be multiple reasons as to why the recurrence is happening. A) low immunity secondary to anemia b) infection- either bacterial viral or infectious mononucleosis (all of which present with a more or less similar set of symptoms that you are suffering with. Advice - avoid street food, use sanitizer as much as possible and don't take chances with water. Second if you are already careful about the stuff I mentioned above then you may have to go ahead and investigate the problem. Step 1 - get a throat swab done for culture and sensitivity 2- test for infectious mononucleosis 3 cbp (complete blood test) based on reports you may have to start antibiotics or you may also have to undergo tonsillectomy. If you have more than 6 attacks of sore throat and enlarged tonsils or if you had 3 attacks per year for the past 3 years then you must undergo tonsillectomy. Hope this helps. Thanks.

You maybe suffering from allergic rhinitis and pharyngitis. You need to avoid the cause of your allergies and also take anti allergy medications. Please consult for prescription. If you have an infection and have fever you will need to do a course of antibiotics. For now do warm saline gargle and steam inhalation 3 times a day.

I have been suffering from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, sciatica and chronic sinus problem of streptococci. I feel that when sinus problem aggravates, a few days after my suffering of arthritic pain increases. Sinus problem is of frontal or maxillary affecting right eye which becomes red and itchy, painful. I am taking kali bichrome, hydrastis, echinacea. Please help me advising medicines for longer use.

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
Regarding sinusits main symptoms for maxillary sinusitis are thick nasal discharge, headache, watering eyes, forehead pain, recurrent infection of nose and mouth, post nasal drip, sinusitis, is nothing but a physiological disorder of nose which led by malfunctioning of aerodynamics of nose (temporary sinusitis, secondly it is because of repeated infections of the sinus (permanent sinusitis) sinuses regulations and air conditioning of the air which we breathe and to get the benefit of above we must have normal, well sized opened sinusitis and hence nose breathing is required, those who breathe from mouth, they have tendency to get more throat and lungs infections. Recurrent sinus infection, pollution, poor diet, spicy food, long term steam inhalation from nose, and allergies leads to thick discharge from nose. This thick mucus if stays in the sinuses, it leads to irritation of the sinus skin which is mucosa and this go on growing hence leads to permanent sinusitis this extra growth is called nasal polyps this is where patient needs surgical correction. If patient comes to nose surgeon at right time, doctor can revert his/her symptoms and surgery can be abandoned. Sinusitis if patient does not take serious steps to correct might lead to cardiac symptoms, lung diseases, etc. Once there are nasal polyps you have to go for surgery immediately.
