Hi, your anxiety issues, apparently, stem from your existing stomach ailments description of which pertains to ibs mostly. Do take plenty of water and stay hydrated. Have a healthy and balanced diet, with fresh and juicy fruits at least twice daily. Avoid citrus fruits. Avoid high calorie foods including fast foods. Simultaneously, also take a good multi-vitamin rich in b-vitamins, vitamin c, vitamin d3, vitamin e, omega-3 fatty acids and trace minerals including zinc, magnesium, potassium, calcium etc daily. Avoid all foods that you are allergic to and those which probably worsen your ibs symptoms. Restrict tea, coffee and sugary foods including carbonated beverages. Alcohol intake, if any, needs to be restricted completely. Do consume well ripened fruits especially papaya & banana. Buttermilk, with a pinch of fresh turmeric added, and coconut water too are immensely valuable in this condition. Do exercise daily for at least 30 minutes. Walking, in open air, is the safest as well as the best should you have no other health related constraints. Early morning yoga, pranayam and meditation shall also help you keep focussed, relaxed and help you connect with yourself better. It would facilitate face things, as they come, with ease and also enjoy every moment of your life by being able to give your best, irrespective of results. Hope this helps. Should you have issues still, you may connect with a gi specialist for further traction. Take care and all the very best.

How To Deal With GERD

Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or gerd, as it is commonly known is a digestive disorder that is caused primarily due to intestinal distress. Gerd is caused in the muscle that lies between the oesophagus and the stomach, when the acid is produced in the stomach, it starts to flow backwards. For patients suffering from gerd, the acids flow back into the oesophagus instead of the stomach, causing symptoms like severe heartburn, chest pain and nausea, amongst others. So what does one do to deal with gerd? here's a brief list!

Obesity: being overweight and obese are two of the most important factors that contribute to discomfort in gerd patients. Working towards a healthier weight is a sure shot way of dealing with this ailment.

Alcohol and smoking: the muscle ring that can be found between the stomach and the oesophagus relaxes with the intake of alcohol or with smoking, which prevents it from closing to stop the stomach's juices from reaching the oesophagus. So, giving up both substances would be a good idea if you are a gerd patient.

Go gluten free: adopting a gluten free diet can help you cut out ingredients including grains and dairy products that contain more protein than what your digestive tracts can handle.

Other dietary measures: in order to handle gerd effectively, you will need to remove or reduce chocolate, fatty food, spicy food, and even oily and fried food from your diet. You may need the help of food with extra fibre, like fruit so that it can pass through the digestive tract faster.

Smaller and well timed meals: eating meals regularly and dividing them into smaller meals that can be digested quickly and more efficiently is one of the best ways of dealing with gerd to prevent the onset of backward flowing of stomach acids.

Exercise: ensuring that you do not take a nap or lie down right after a meal and putting in a small amount of exercise everyday will also help in doing away with the uncomfortable and painful symptoms of this disease.

Making lifestyle changes is one of the best ways to deal with gerd. Yet, it would be best to see a doctor regarding severe cases where the symptoms do not abate and medication may be required.

Dear Doctor,
I'm 15 Years and while running more than 50meters I'm having a pain at my low part of my Abdominal part...
Abdominal cramps are fairly common in new runners. To prevent it make sure you eat light before you start running so that there is plenty of room for breathing. There should be a gap of 2-3 hr between meal and running. Breathe deeply from the base of your lungs. Avoid getting nervous because it makes you breathe shallow. When you start running initially start slow to prevent cramps. Inspite of everything if there is still cramp ,slow down and exhale forcefully multiple times. The pain should go in few seconds.

Hi, Loose motion/gastritis/ constipation with stomach ache may be related to irritable bowel syndrome, Please follow these advice: 1. Eat healthy food. Avoid junk/ spicy/fried/oily foods. 2. Eat homemade food including more fibres in your diet (plenty of salads, vegetables, seasonal fruits, and complex carbs like Dalia, oats and whole wheat bread etc.). 3. Eat all your meals on time. 4. Take a light and early dinner. 5. Try to keep yourself active. Exercise, do brisk walk, take a break between works and stretch yourself in between. 6. Keep yourself stress free as much as possible, have meditation/ yoga etc, it will help in long term (don't expect short term benefit) 7. Avoid tea/ coffee, it causes gas. Medication - 1. Take Digene 2 teaspoonful whenever feel discomfort but not more than 3 times a day. 2. Tablet Pantaprazole 40 mg one hour before food once a day for 7 days. 3. Tablet Lactic Acid Bassilus two times a day for 7 days. 4. Tablet Levosulpiride 25 mg three times a day for 15 days. You may also start with urea 30.1-2 drops in luke warm water 4 times a day for immediate relief and get another test done after 5 days if uric acid levels comes down well and good else get ultrasonography done for kidneys suspecting stones or deterioration. Also drink 6-8liters of water everyday if you don't have swelling all over.
